Yeah I've had some pretty harsh complaints with many of our campaigns- primarily due to the stories being switched up/left unfinished.

One thing I didn't get was the event how the Makani was introduced. It all seemed like there was a natural disaster coming for every settlement due to how the events were named, but we ended up with a new race.

Something I'd always wondered was why Deester's personal Campaign Events had to be pre-approved by Events.

I was under the assumption that, as he was on the lore team at the time of conducting the event that he'd be allowed to run it as a non-server campaign event, and continue with the campaign as his personal project, rather than needing approval of the Events Team (which I was not a part of at the time).

On the flip, having spoken with Deester during a time where I was under the impression he was still a full functioning member of the lore department, I was surprised to learn he was unaware of certain Events Team initiatives that I was assured was approved by the entirety of the Lore Department.

I will avoid specifics, of course, but I feel strongly that this question deserves to be answered for the forums at large.

Why does lore have to go through events, but events doesn't have to go through lore? Or were 2/3rds of lore all that were required, if they kept Dee out on purpose?

Events and Lore should really be one team, or simply have complete exposure between the two, if there's this level of information disparity.

Now I don't know anything about Lore did this and Events did that, but it seems that considering the two define the roleplay aspects of the server they should be inextricably intertwined.

Just throwing a curve ball here, but maybe you could fill a player-based Lore Council with people who are knowledgeable about certain aspects.

Magi for magic (like they already are), smiths for smithing, alchemists for alchemy, etc.
That way ppl who mastered certain things can answer questions. In most cases, those people would be able to just relay the answer Lore Team gave them a while back.
Ofcourse Staff can always overrule someone, but this could help cut the waiting times by a large amount.

No-one likes to wait 1+ month to be told no or yes waaaay after they actually wanted to use that info.

EDIT:
This would cut both the waiting time for players and the workload for Staff. Ive seen plenty of questions that I got an answer to from Staff a while ago, yet I tell them to ask Staff either way just to be sure.
And some people are in the physics, medical, etc. world and will often be more accurate with their responses than page 1 of Google.

EDIT 2:
And, ofcourse, it allows those who don't have time for everything being Staff includes to still actively contribute to the community and Staff team.

It's really starting to feel like you're trying to change what the server and community is without veering away from the trademarked name. The only classic things appropriate to what our world and our community used to be seem to be the gods, the elementals, and the players.

Essentially what I mean is the vision ongoing appears to be like a reboot that's completely different to the past while using the name for its value. Why do this instead of just changing the foundation behind the scenes and in the lore? It would certainly come with less backlash.

I think Archbishop is a great staff member and an abysmal pick for lore. He should have moved to the position of in game tech coordination.

Now that part I'll disagree with. I don't really care who is in-charge of lore. Personally to me, regardless of if it's Arch or Dee, from personal experiences they've both got downsides to them getting any sort of "coordinator" position, but they've also both got qualities that are nice for the position. I'm not going to talk shit about a person earning a position, especially if they haven't even been given a chance to prove if they're good or bad for the position yet.

Give it a chance, see how it goes, then decide whether you're upset with the choice or not, based on the decisions they make and how they do in the position. That is how I'll be doing it, at the very least; and I hope other people give Archbishop a shot.

It's concerning when I find myself agreeing with everything in one of your posts, Glados.

You put me on the same level as Ced, who hasn't done anything in over half a year.

As a public FAQ, since I was not made privy to these changes until after they were decided in the staff forum, I'd like to hear the planned approach on:
  • Fixing Magic; pacing is imbalanced, the disciplines are fragmented with some not even having a dedicated Magus while certain spells in particular are complete nonsense.
  • Catering to old server lore; since no one else would consult Mich or reach out to the old Loremasters to fill in gaps that are documented outside the forums.
  • The plan for the Divines and cleaning up the current alterations and retcons to the mythos that is still on the server lore and had players that still play characters from that time.
  • Finding a way to do so with Events bridging the gap instead of witholding information.
I shifted you to an advisory and aid position. You know why, we talked about it and agreed to it. We were trying to work things out but I needed to move on in the time I have right now. I could not leave things as they were because you chose to step out by choice already. @All who are asking about it- Dee's got a good heart and he's a good part of Lore, but a coordinator of Lore needs to be a coordinator of Lore. I've given Dee a position where he can actually focus on what he wants to do for Lore and this server instead of focusing his attention to other things and other people.
  • The only one lacking a dedicated magus is Formistry that I gave you reign over to find. You're waiting to spark people by personal choice, but I'll assume things will pick up after it. Our magi are busy. Ones an event coordinator who's students have been inactive in Anima, ones internet is troubled with Cogi but will return and there's another who can teach there, and another is busy with college but has a Master aid who I'm assuming is going to eventually teach more than just one person who're waiting on Evis. Pacing is here and there, obviously. But if it's going slow, we'll step in to talk to the Magi players. Our intention is still here to make sure the skills are balanced to their specific schools.
  • We're reigning in what gaps there are properly and record things that will and have occurred.
  • Divine plan is still ongoing. Everyone's noticed they're somewhat back, but not in the way they used to be. They are subtle and approach things in the background of server happenings at this time. The pacing is also extended because of actual life and school being in the way, but it's being picked back up.

Hands have changed, Staff have changed- I don't believe everyone should expect this server to stay the same as it was 5 years ago or 2 years ago. That's the explanation I can give for your first part. Second, I'm not sure much about- seems to be more of an opinion and a suggestion to which I'll say I've seen it.

..I distinctly remember you saying the same thing about me in the public threads when I was handed the position of Owner of this Server. You said something along the lines of me deciding what's best for players, that I may not be a good choice for an owner and that I think I'm better than people. Has the opinion changed? If it has, then I'd like there to be a chance given to Arch- because he's up for the challenge. If it hasn't, then I leave you to your opinion.
