Getting Started with Dwarf Fortress - Lazy Newb Pack / Tutorial

I'm pretty sure there's a "Convert my Dwarf Fortress to a Minecraft Map" esque thing out there too.
This game is so addictive. But difficult to learn all the different things you need to do and build.

SoundSense is cool and DwarfTherapist is a godsend. I almost embarked on a glacier the other night but thought better of it considering my skill level!

Do some research first. Read as much as you can about it and watch some lets plays / tutorials. Its a very rewarding game.
