Morrowind expansion is pretty awesome and the dueling system/team death match is really cool.

So, if you're around and want to adventure in PvP with me, lemme know~

I miss Morrowind deeply. I loved it. I have eaten up lore since forever. From the mundane things to the deepest of conflicted canon (C0DA). Things like the dreamsleeve and Chim.

However, I feel it would be treasonous to my own sense of dignity to play an MMO that I wanted nothing to do with in the first place.

I only wanted to to play TES with friends. Like, Co-Op ala Phantasy Star, not for them to go all-out MMO. So I boycotted TESO.

I did give it a chance and played during the beta (shit it's been that long) years ago. Was thoroughly disappointed, but it still doesn't help the feeling that I'm missing out on the ultimate nostalgia party.

I will say ALOT has improved since beta. It's like a completely different game. I guess it depends on your style.

They rolled out a bunch of patches for it, which have changed it entirely. The only main problem with the game is the same as with every MMO, Expansions and Micro-transactions. But the Crown Store is completely unnecessary unless you want an early boost in the game, and the Expansions are alright. The main one now, Morrowind, I haven't touched, but I hear it is good, and then with certain things, like buying the Imperial race, it can get annoying. But yeah, main problems are just Imperial Race purchase and then having to pay double the price of the game so that you can be in one of the 3 factions and still play any other race. Otherwise, would recommend.

I've never really liked the MMO genre. I suppose that is some of the root of my problems with the game. I mean, don't get me wrong, I had a blast with WoW when I had upwards of 20+ people in my fraternity playing all at once. We had a solid group of like 10 guys that were good enough to swap around in PvP. But at the end of the day, it feels meaningless and hollow. There is no end-game, no ultimate achievement, and you're ultimately surrounded by strangers. Without my group of friends, I never would've played.
I don't have that same group of 20+ guys now to do that again.

But my greater problem is the market system of microtransactions. I don't have a problem with expansions, but I cannot support microtransactions. I don't play any game that has them. Even if they're cosmetic, it oozes with disingenuous feelings. I understand that a company must make money, but microtransactions remove any veneer of professionalism and just suggests they're in it for the dosh rather than the game. I don't like it, so I don't support it. Expansions (if they're proper and not half-assed DLCs) at least give us plenty of new content worth the additional money.

in games that are pay once to play forever, micro-transactions keep the game on. As long as they don't give an advantage i could care less.

I've also disliked every single MMO I have tried thus far but this is the first 'MMO' I actually thoroughly enjoy. Enough to spend months playing on it and I still do though on a console now since my PC cannot handle it. I had my reservations as well and when I played it early on after it was first really released- I hated it, though I gave it a shot again about a year and a half ago and I have been addicted ever since. It is a bit repetitive but there is something that keeps me entertained. Perhaps it's just the genre and franchise but it is definitely one of my favorite games.

I mean, HollowWorld also has those cosmetic microtransactions :p Yes, it's very different compared to a million dollar company like ESO, but most of the micro transactions are basically cosmetic or small little boons. The DLC content is really interesting as well and the new expansion that just came out is basically an entire different game.

I've played several MMO's including WoW for years, and I really don't put this on the same level that the others do. I don't even really like to consider it an MMO. PvP in this game is really fun too, and feels a lot less MMO like and more realistic, depending on how you play.
