The clan is built upon devotion to Theodra - The Huntress, Divine of the Quiver, Truest Aim of them All. As it currently stands, this is far from a mandated religion, though the worship of certain gods, namely Jishrim and Crusade, is forbidden on lands controlled by the Strandi and outlawed within the clan itself, and the worship of false gods is persecuted as heresy.

Many Strandi worship Shalherana as a secondary deity, and for some even as their primary deity instead of Theodra, paying respects to her as the All-mother who granted life upon the land both for them and for the plants and animals that sustain them.

There is no structured religion within the clan, with no regular mass or required worship. Worship of Theodra is focused more on honoring Her by applying Her doctrine in life and dedicating actions in Her name, in ways such as respecting and honoring the hunt and the land and protecting your honor and kin.

Her word and the lessons it entails are spread mainly through families sharing wisdom from the older generations to the younger, and through the local folklore and stories especially.

The Sacred Wood of Stoltfar is the
de facto center of worship, and is considered sacred ground dedicated in Theodra’s name. It is a gathering place open for people to spend time in meditation and prayer. Occasionally it is used as a place for public displays of a wide variety such as ceremonies, celebration, duels, or executions if such is called for, as these acts are also carried out in the sight of Theodra to ensure they are done in display of the clan’s strength or to protect the clan and one’s family.

Folklore and Legends
  • It is said that the Aurora that often dominates the night sky of the far north is created when Theodra is happy, and She dances across the heavens with the All-mother and the spirits of the Wilderness, creating the brilliant shining ribbons of green and pink that ripple across the sky over the open white tundra and the icy northern sea.

In line with worship of Theodra and Shalherana, the people of the clan hold a deep respect for the land and the beasts that share it. They do not think of their holdings as ownership of the land, but moreso as controlling a part of it as their territory, and their ability to hold and protect that land is a testament to their strength in their eyes. Holding more land than you can defend is considered foolish.

The Hunt is an integral part of society for the clan. While most of their food supply comes from the sea and things that are imported, the hunt is where the few hunters of the clan show their strength and wisdom in survival. How one hunts is a reflection of their personality; while a trapper is patient and methodical, preferring to bait their prey into making the mistake of falling into a well-placed trap, much like a defender lying in wait to ambush a carefully lured enemy, a hunter who tracks and stalks their prey to strike at the right moment when they are vulnerable is like a warrior who goes on the offensive, seeking out their enemy before they get the chance to come close to home and striking with precision. The most skilled hunters can do both, assessing their situation and adapting their method to their prey and situation.

The Hunt is solely used for providing food and resources for the clan. To hunt in excess or without respect for the prey and the land is taboo and brings great shame and dishonor upon oneself. Because of this, it is expected that hunters use every part of their quarry that they can. It is custom to take anything that is left over and either leave it back in the Wilderness it came from or throw it to the sea to be consumed, or sometimes sacrificed over a fire in rituals or ceremonies.
