Codex of the Sun

Ignis Synnove

the-shining-light-11.png

Truth Shall prevail, Order shall Rule.

"The Lightbringer"
"Phoenix of the Sun"
"God of Order"

The one God of Nobility, Fire and Flame, Order, Light, and Truth.

-=-
As time has brought light to the truth of past deceptions, the time has come for a new Codex to be brought forth. A new direction for the Faith. May all of Her Holiness' servants learn from the words that the Codex hopes to teach. We serve one God, we serve the Sun.
These are the words as written by God's chosen representatives, and as such shall be law. To refuse this Codex is to refuse her Holy truth and to refuse her Holy truth is the most heinous of heresies.
-=-

Her most Holy Doctrine:

1. Thou shalt believe true all words of the Light, and shalt observe all its directions.

2. Thou shalt never lie nor bear false witness, and shalt remain faithful to thy pledged word.

3. Thou shalt respect those who are wealthy and powerful, for they are such due to the grace of the Light.

4. Thou shalt pray upon each Sunrise, to give good thanks that the Light bathes thy lands upon once more!

5. Thou shalt not recognize any other Gods or Goddesses, for the Light is the one true Divine.

6. Thou shalt give due respects for the orderly inheritance, heritage and succession, to honour thy Father and Mother before thee.

7. Thou shalt bring persecution upon heresy, to preserve the Order of the world.

8. Thou shalt see murderers without cause have forfeit their own life before the Light, and their belongings entitled to the family of the murdered.

9. Thou shalt burn the dead so they might not rise as demons, or worse!

10. Thou shalt respectfully observe the Divine Law.

Arthorius
I - The Man silently enters the sanctified halls of the holy grounds, deeply thinking. Only his muffled footsteps can be heard echoing through the saint Ecclesia Cathedrali as he almost ceremonially makes his way towards the holy altar sitting at the very center of his dynasty's entire work, the man straightens his posture and the manner in which he holds a tome that could make rise or destroy decades of belief, blind faith and empires that succeeded each-other. No, it cannot all have been for nothing, all those years spent, he tells himself. Now, at the tip of what seems to be the most threatening hour of his faith and perhaps his entire terrestrial life, the man stand silent, deeply pondering over the words said, and actions taken.
"Will you not stand by me to kill our Lord's murderer?!", The other man said.
"The Sun Lives on...''
The Man would lower his sight towards the tome at the though of those words pronounced a short while before. The Lord is too strong, immortal, he cannot just be -gone-, the man though. Saying the opposite would be heretical, and would be turning faith from the unending Sun. Even if He, in His greatest wisdom, ascended to an even greater form, would it not still be an holy gift as to give your soul to him? To lend your arm to bear his standard, to lend your Faith and strengh for the Sun's Crusade, to Burn, Purge and exterminate all that would stand in His way, such is the way of Redemption. The Sun has turned his sight from us once again, testing us, disdainful of the lack of faith we hold in Him. The Prophecy would be the center of all of his work, the man though... And no longer would he leave others to care about works that they cannot achieve, only himself should hold the highest offices, with the fall of the Magisterium.
Such were the Man's thoughts, as he slowly opened the tome once again, and slowly read the Prophecy contained within once again. Those were the words of the Sun, he knew it, the words of all that is holy, and what is destined to rule the entire mortal world. the Man now understood, understood why his Lord disappeared. He knew from the bottom of his heart the the Sun was waiting for the moment where the world would be his to rule, where the fire and the light would reign supreme over anything else. From that moment, the Man knew he would have to quite radically act to bring Faith to Altera, or die and be removed trying. After slowly standing back up, the man turned around, hiding the tome under his cloak, and walking towards the exit of the Cathedral. Not long after, posters could be seen in key locations of Haven, with scriptures written in Lavoyarde going as this: ''By order of the ruler, King-Magister Thorius, worship of all deities in the holy realm is to be outlawed at the exception of the Sun and his Angeli, Sun's luck, Sun's Knowledge and Sun's Craft, Jax, Silas and Korog''
II - Silent they stood, looking at each-other, faiths colliding and wills unbound. The two men, those of Ecclesia and Regium, standing over the abyss and fighting over what could be the rebirth of a glorious Imperium, the quest for Justice remade, or what could be the fall into darkness of an Odyssey. Vigilant they were, holding in their hands the fate of perhaps thousand of Faithful brothers and sisters, those that would follow the Sun to the Nether if He deemed it necessary. So were the Champion and the Griffin, both ever more righteous in their acts, both deeply disagreeing with eachother. At the tallest height of the Castle, they argued, foolishly overlooking His will, one wanting endless retribution above all, the other seeking personal advancement. As the embers of one of the Artefacts flew, yet fiery but torn apart, both of the men had their sanctified blades drawn out, ready to defend to death and oblivion their faiths.
Then, at the height of the day, on noon, the Sun stopped its holy course.
''Let this madness... end''
A single whisper, yet not of mortal nature, could be hear through the skies, atop the holy fortress and the lowest of alleys alike. We had dishonored the Sun's might once more, but in His greatest wisdom, decided to give us a sign of his Holy presence. As the men raised their heads towards the shining sphere, an elemental of pure heat and light flew from the highest reaches, accompanied by thunder and lightning. The being slowly descended upon the men, a sanctified sight. As it slowly approached the platform, its true identity could be recognized, as nothing else then the old Harateth himself.
One of the men fell to his knees, while the other one looked at the apparition with utter surprise. The being, was still the Sun God in soul, but had somewhat... changed. It was more fiery, and while weakened, seemed to regain more and more strength. Eventually, the Griffin asked; ''Sun, what do you wish of us?'' and was answered with orders truly worth of holy worship, as the Sun consumed one of the Relics to prove his holy might. As the Sun spoke, the man would touch the Tome he held next to his heart, the Prophecy that would usher His return on Altera. At the bottom of his soul, the man always knew the Sun would not die, and was near immortal, as his Faithful on the mortal world were Legions. As a verse of the Prophecy stated...:
''I will return... I will bring Light...''
As the Phoenix of Light began fading away, his last orders could be heard... ''Prepare for the day... March on a Crusade for the Sun'' . And so, as the last glimmers of fire slowly dissipated, a last, quick whisper could be heard.
''Ignis... Synnova''
The Faithful turned, and soon, the Griffin spoke;
''Praise Ignis! Let us crusade to the fields of valor and war for our Lord! Stand into the Light, brothers and sisters!''

Samuel
I - On a cold morning, many men of both nobility and common birth came together in a march, a movement of people on the path towards the Funeral of King Thorius a faithful man who lead 2 crusades in the name of the Light. The men piled around the pyre, offering gifts and kind word to the now motionless man and stiff man. As the fire was blazed under the logs scented with fine oils and herbs; A flash of light; A flash of flames; Wings appearing and touching the men surrounding the pyre, a figure appeared a women merely inches away from the spirit of Thorius, the voice calling out to him;
“Arthorius! You have come to join the faithful, but your heart is not within thus, Arthorius why is this?”
the man peered over to her, as the followers of the Light kneeled in her presence with prayers being spoken in many different tongues.
“My praised Lady, I am summoned from the Heavens, compelled by a fiery will to accomplish your will, I beg you, my soul is yours for eternity, grant me time to do your bidding, Queen of the Sun!” He called in reply. “The place of yours lies empty in my realm, Arthorius, A faithful must fill it!”
Many men stood and offered themselves in exchange for Thorius’ to be granted another live, such as the Prince Charlemagne, Prince Barthelemy, Princess Anastasia, and finally Duc Emeric de Courtnay, yet the offer of his youngest son appealed most to Ignis as She peered from Charlemagne to Thorius. “Would you give up your youngest son, in exchange to serve my will?”
''My beloved Lady! The physical body of my youngest son would be a suitable Phylactery.''
She nodded a single cold nod, flames spinning around her as she disappeared into the night.
II - Many years ago now, the god of goodness and light, Harateth fell to ash, and upon that day we saw the rise of a new deity, Ignis Synnove; We saw the phoenix rise new from the ashes God of Light, Harateth, upon the wings of fire and for that we sing praise for her, as her wings of fire bless us her followers and grant as the sun to repel the darkness of the night....
''Ave, Amen, Praise the Lady. Remember her blazing Knights, her Crusaders of old, led by the first Saints, those born from Gold. Natus ab Aurum, generantur ex bellum. We shalt always honor the courage and sacrifice of the First of the Faithful, those who stood in front of Corruption, War and destruction. The men of the South, those of the Golden Bull of Arcturus.
-Praise be unto Saint Magnus, he who commands the word of the Heavens unto the mortal, voice of the infinite Light
-Praise be unto Saint Elazar, he who commands the Legions of Her Crusaders, Highest Paladin of all
-Praise be unto Saint Mallor, he who architects the bricks of Faith and Light and melds the Cathedrals of Sun
Honor thine divinely-guided ancestors, Children of Light. Pay your homages to thy's Saints, for the memories of such shalt keep your path forward, protected and divinely sewn. Thy's faith is what make thy's humanity, and the Heathen's apostasy.
Ave Sun, Ave Light, Ave to the Lady of Synnove. Amen.''

Mathieu
I - In the later years of the first reign of Alison, Queen of Kaltstaat, the one true God sought out Her faithful subjects from across the land. At that time, the Queen of Kaltstaat's court was filled with young men willing to die for her and her husband, yet few seemed to hold God in the same reverence as the men of Anhald and Lavoyarde before them. Those few that held God close were actually held to a certain disregard within the court, yet their faith did not waver. It was at this time that one such Knight, the young de Courtnay, found himself plagued by nightmares. Sleep became rare and scenes of great destruction and ruination seeped into his mind. For many nights this continued and despair had just began to settle when, a week later, the dreams finally ceased. In their place the young de Courtnay found himself overcome with a newfound confidence and determination, for the power of God was with him. Mathieu had been blessed by the Sun and had found himself eager to profess his gratitude and loyalty to the Lightbringer above. All those who would listen were called to stand as audience before him in Storm's Landing to hear Her word. A pyre was built and an altar of pure marble was constructed in Her honour. The young priest began, his faith in God apparent to all that had gathered. These are the words that he spoke that day.

"We have all heard it said that the Divine are no longer with us. That in their absence they have plunged Altera into a pit of darkness and turned their backs upon us. We have all heard this, and not one finds a cause to dispute it.
Yes, there were those who even sought to act upon it and those people brought forth swathes of darkness and a plague of undead unto our lands. We were forced from our homes and into this new world, this Gottland. Forced to coincide with beasts unseen and an entire history unlived.
For decades we have lived amongs darkness and now, we are plagued by creatures of evil and wars ravage the land. For too long have the ears of our God been untouched by wholesome prayer. We have abandoned our most holy empress of flame and in exchange, we have been given naught but despair.
Yet, I tell you that this is not the time for despair, as whilst this evil is not yet over and far more and far worse evils are yet to make their way unto our lands, let us not fall into despair and hopelessness for we are not alone. Let us once more turn to the heavens, to our most holy empress of Flame, and beg of Her mercy. Only when we open our eyes to Her holy light, will we truly be able to best this darkness.
Let us denounce our heretical ways and beg for our forgiveness, only then will we be cleansed in the eyes of god. Let us once more turn to our Lady’s doctrine and follow such to the letter, as doing so will not be in vain. God will send unto us a gift, I have seen this, a gift in the form of repentance and saviour.
May those of heretical persuasion lament, as their times of hiding away in the dark is over. Light has come, we must prepare for the day that ends this night."

He spoke with Her voice, with her will at his heart for God stood beside him, guiding his speech. When the time came that his speech had ended, a member of the crowd caught his eye. The man was a known liar and a self-professed Prince who dirtied God's holy nobility. Mathieu pointed toward the man, and asked him whether his words had been truly heard. The false Prince denied him, claiming that he needed proof, for his faith was not strong. God had chosen this time to glorify herself, for She was the first of the Divine to return to us. The Prince's proclaimed heresy and insults toward the Sun did not go unpunished, for She answered most spectacularly. The very Sun above them seemed to blink as a great pillar of God's flaming fury barreled down from the heavens unto the False Prince. God was with him, as she is with us all.
Not long after this speech, the young de Courtnay was set upon by the forces of Kaltstaat. A member of the crowd had saw fit to orchestrate an attempt on the life of Alison Kane and the priest was suspected of involvement for he was friends with the assailant. Mathieu was bound and shackled, brought to the northern city of Queensport. Not once did God leave his heart. It was eventually determined that Mathieu would be exiled as punishment for acting against the realm. The young de Courtnay was forced from his home, to travel East to the lands of Lyon, to live out his life in exile from all that he had once knew. However, the forces of Kaltstaat were not as forgiving as their monarch. They demanded that Mathieu pay the highest price for the involvement in the attack on Alison's life. They came forth and took Mathieu's brother to their home of Oren. They held him there and sent an ultimatum. If Mathieu did not travel to Oren, they would murder his brother. The time came that Mathieu travelled North to see his brother freed, for in the pursuit of Truth self sacrifice is expected. The northern house that held his brother were true to their word, they freed the other de Courtnay, and saw to it that Mathieu died for his supposed crimes. Upon a holy birch, at dawn, Mathieu was hung.
II - Many months passed with the faith seemingly set to dwindle and die once more. Yet, God was not done with the young Knight yet. She saw to it that he rose once more within the City of Lyon. This young Knight, now a Duke, called to him his closest friends. For the nights had grown long and the faith in the light had begun to waver amongst Her people. They gathered in the dead of night as three worshippers of the Sun came together. Darkness surrounded their makeshift shrine. It was here that they presented their most illustrious offerings to Synnove for the first time. Each man stepped forth to the shrine and made to burn their offerings upon a large pyre, to honour the sun and flame, calling out their everlasting praises. The young Duke set aside a blade long since revered by his family, the Flanders set down the banner of Amalfia to commemorate their victory over an infestation and the Lord of Thorne set down a small collection of crops. Each offering was consumed with fiery tendrils. Flames rose into the night sky, the shrine was engulfed in Holy fire and, for what seemed like only a split second, above the pyre the flames seemed to drift and form into great wings that fluttered and dissipated into the night sky. The pyre continued to burn, and the men found their faith bolstered. God was truly with them.
-Edit below here-
III - Many more weeks and even months passed until Mathieu was ready to again call for the faithful to join him. He feared what may come to him, he feared what they may do. God was with him, She strengthened his heart and resolve so that he may once more spread Her word to the masses. A pyre was built, and many more offerings came forth from himself and the crowd that had gathered to honour and bask in the glory of the Morningstar. Eventually, he began his sermon. Long and heartfelt, the now heavily injured priest called for the attention and love of his God. As his speech drew to a close he turned to the pyre, and once more pleaded for God to heed his calls. Again, the Sun seemed to answer his will, down came another pillar of crashing sunlight onto the Pyre which promptly erupted into great flames. The Crowd stood by in awe, and one man proclaimed his faith truly changed always. God was truly watching.
IV - Not long after his Storm's Landing sermon, Maceo found himself in the possession of Knight's Haven, a great castle that he hoped would serve as a worthy gift unto heaven. He called forth his faithful friends and together they sought Ignis' Grace once more. They stood within a newly crafted shrine, as a brazier of fire burned before them. Maceo and Pierre began their sermons and soon enough, the pillars of the shrine almost began to sheen and glow, the air became hazy around them as though warped by some unseen heat. Wisps of smoke rose from the scabbard at Maceo's waist, and when he removed his sword it's entirety seemed to bask in a blazing light. Sharp motes of blinding light seemed to etch and dance around the blade, and the glow finally dimmed leaving behind two words, gracefully proclaiming "Verum Illuminat" or 'Truth Illuminates' in Old Arcturian. God was truly bountiful.
V - High atop the Marien mountains, Maceo commissioned a great monument be built in honour of Synnove and to celebrate it's completion he decided to hold another sermon for God; to present his gift. Accompanied by the squire Isaac and the newborn child of du Beaumont, Maceo began his service. He and Pod praised God above and then continued to offer their services and that of Isaac and the child, in the means of knighting Isaac and induction to the faith for the babe. Yet, for some unseen reason, their gifts and calls were left unanswered and the congregation were left in the rain.
VI - Nestled within the walls of Haven, the faithful gathered before a great bonfire. At the behest of the Pontifex, stories were shared of exploits and actions done in God's name and when the time came, he shared his own. A truth long since buried in dishonesty and darkness, Maceo brought it to light. Yet, once more for some unseen reason his call and tale were unanswered. It was only when Maceo began to doubt the truth that he had discovered that God above revealed her hand. She verified his tale with a singular action. The blank side of Incandescence now reads "Veritas Praevalebit" or "Truth will prevail" in Old Arcturian.
VII - The Crown
VIII - The commandments of his God were as fresh in his mind as the day he first heard them. "Thou shalt pray upon each Sunrise". Every morn he had risen before the Sun and knelt before its glory as it began to plot its course across the skies. Every morn he had knelt and prayed in everlasting gratitude. Every morn his prayer was left without response. There was no reason for this morning to be different, but still he did as his God bid.
He began his way toward the throne room whilst it was still dark and arrived just as a light glow seemed to crest the distant skyline. His uneven footfall took him toward the window and without hesitation the man knelt. Every morning was the same, he would pray, he would wait and nothing would happen, but He was okay with that for it was what God commanded him to do.
As he began to open his mouth to speak, dawn broke all across Le Havre. The Sky was aglow when only moments prior there had been darkness. On the horizon the ever radiant Sun could just be seen beyond the hills and mountains. Light bathed the land.
All of a sudden, before the man could even begin his prayer, his words were interrupted by a vision most divine. A great searing light shone from just beyond the window. The deafening roar of fire and flame filled his ears and all else was lost to him as his focus lay solely on this epiphany before him. A great seraphim hovered outside, its great wings beat and flapped at great speed. There was no mistaking this for anything but a vision from God on high. His arms rose in submission and praise to the great apparition before him, only for his eyes to be drawn back to the ground. The being was surely too Holy to be looked upon by his mortal eyes. The man trembled before this most divine sight. Every morn he had come to pray, and every morn he had received no sign of Her recognising his prayer. After all this time he had been answered.
A sole voice broke through the great cacophony of roaring flame and trembling of wings. Somehow, this voice managed to be louder than anything he had heard before. As though a thousand roaring cannons had fired. As though the flames of a hundred Suns were burning before him. Yet, its message was most certainly unmistakable.
"Telarion moves this day in line with my devices. My devout are needed upon their venture."
Duty called and the man rose; for when God calls all men must answer.

Ecclesia
I -
The Faithful of God
This is how we shall act, as one Church, to honour our God above and continue to give Her the praise that She deserves. We will gather as Her faithful to glorify Her name under the banner of the Sun. We, as Her church, shall be the representatives of Her faith upon this realm and as such we must act as worthy ambassadors of Her will. We must be a strong and unified gathering, for that is what pleases God. The faithful of God should always act with reverence of Her Holy will in mind.
The act of Prayer
Prayer is the conscious act of communicating with God above. One can find many reasons to pray, be it simply wishing to offer praise to the Empress of Flames or to beg for forgiveness for sin. Prayer is a sacred and Holy act as it shows submission of one's self to God's wisdom and will. It is for this reason that when you pray there shall be no using any false names of our God, for She is a jealous God and may believe your misinformed prayer to be misguided heresy. The names that Codex accepts are as follows: Ignis Synnove, Ignis, Synnova and God. The titles that the Codex allows are as follows: Empress of Flame, Phoenix of the Sun, Firebird, Lightbringer, the Light, the Truth, the Sun and God of Gods. It is important for us to remember that when we pray, it is always better to pray together because our voices are louder when we are together, and the loud and sincere praise of Her faithful pleases our God. One is expected to make prayer before the Sun or a depiction thereof upon the rising and fall of the Sun each day. This pleases God for we are giving the due thanks for her bathing the world with light, and begging her to return again tomorrow to once more bestow upon us her graceful radiance. The act of prayer should always done before an image of Her grace, be that in the form of a shrine, Holy symbol or the Sun itself. This is because these things honour God and will bring Her great joy to see.
The importance of Shrines
In our worship we shall ensure that all shrines are to be uniform to better illustrate how we are but one body, one being of faith. Each shrine shall serve its own purpose, if one is building a pyre to glorify God it shall not look as though it is a pyre to burn the dead. If one is building a pillar to strengthen their faith, it shall not look as though it is a pillar to strengthen the foundations of one's home. If one is to build a shrine in their homes they should seek out only approved and Holy materials of marble, quartz and gold as these are things that are pleasing and pure to God's eyes. If a shrine is built that is of a lesser material, one shows that they are not willing to expend their worldly goods in the service of God and this is displeasing, God has given us all that we have and it is only right for us to give Her the gratitude that she is due. All designs and inscriptions upon such shrines are to also be uniform, for an unified front proves that we can obey and submit to Her most holy Order.
The building of Shrines
The purpose of the shrine shall greatly influence its appearance and components, for certain jobs require differing tools. The main types of shrine shall be defined as: Pillars, Basins of Flame, Pyres of Offering, Pyres of Mourning and the Ringshrine. The Pillars shall only be constructed out of the finest marble without any defect, with the central Golden Sun being cast out of only the purest of Gold to be found, its basin of flame shall be fueled by scented oils or birch wood, for the burning of these fuels please God in their purity. The basins of Flame shall be constructed only out of fine marble or steel and fueled only by scented oils or birch wood. The pillars and the basins of Flame shall be considered the standard shrines of the Faith, for they depict both of God's Holy icons and are suited for any gathering save for funerals. The pyres of offering shall be constructed upon a great pile of birch logs and shall depict the great three pronged Cross of the Artesian church carved from birch wood without defect or deformation. The pyres of mourning shall be fueled by birch and other such logs to better feed the flames. The Ringshrine shall be constructed only out of the finest of marbles, quartz and gold, with its central basin fuelled by birch logs soaked in scented oils. Upon the pillars the word of God's Holy doctrine shall be carved and inlaid in solid Gold so that all may see Her word and know her law. For this shrine is to be used for means of spreading Her will unto hearts and minds that do not yet know of Her presence.
II -
The Great Temple

We will erect a great temple that is wholesome in its devotion to God on high. It shall be pure and noble, with no taint of Angelic or Demonic worship. We shall build this great temple within the heart of our society and it shall be called
[Insert cool holy name here] for it is in this Holy Place that God shall dwell among us for as long as we serve her. This grand temple will be a place of purity and ritual and it shall be the only one of its kind to concentrate the gathering of our Faithful. It shall be built in the manner that I describe, so that we may always honour God in the same orderly fashion. The temple shall be clearly split into three; the gathering place, the Holy place and the most Holy of places. The gathering place shall be built below the Holy and most Holy place, for it is here that all may come and gather before God's grace. The Holy place shall be built upon a raised platform so that it may look down upon the gathering place as it is here that God's ordained priests shall hold their services and rituals to glorify God. The most Holy of places shall be constructed beyond the Holy place, and it shall be inaccessible to all but her chosen.
The Gathering place shall be large enough to hold great sermons and gatherings before God. It shall contain pews and lecterns for Priests to teach the word of God. Built within the centre of the room shall be a Ringshrine that bears the doctrine of God, written in golden print. The shrine shall have in it, a great flaming brazier that burns scented oils. It is here that offerings of any kind can be made to show gratitude to the Light.
The Holy place shall contain braziers of scented oils that will burn at all times, for the flames will honour God. In this room there shall be the means for an ordained Priest to cleanse their hands, feet and face so that they may be pure before God. There shall be many candelabras to shine light on our lives, so that God will see this as a beacon of our faith.
The most Holy of places shall contain braziers of scented oils that will burn at all times, for the flames honour God. Upon each of the walls there shall be depictions and iconography of God's Holy images; the Flames, the Sun and the Pillar. This imagery shall be created by inlaying jewels and golden panels in such a manner to honour God with the wealth that she bestowed upon us. The room should also contain two golden chests, placed at opposite ends of the room from each other, containing the Commandments of Harateth and the Commandments of Ignis Synnove. The chest containing the word of Harateth shall be placed beneath the image of the Sun and the chest contianing the word of Ignis Synnove shall be placed beneath the image of the Flames. This will please God. Beneath the image of the marble pillar shall be a throne. This throne shall be made of marble and gold and shall bear the inscription as follows "God of Gods. Truth shall prevail, Order shall rule." for these words honour and glorify God above.
Entering the Great Temple
Whilst all may enter the temple, there shall be laws for those who are inside. Upon stepping through the threshold, the word of God outweighs all else. Her voice, Her doctrine and Her blessed are to be revered as lawgivers. Only priests may enter the Holy place, for God knows their hearts and God knows that they are Hers. To enter the Holy place, one must wear their priestly garb and be cleansed before the eyes of God and man. They may not step upon such hallowed ground without having done such, for it would be an insult to God's pure and noble nature. Yet, only the Blessed shall be allowed entry into the most Holy of places. But only once a month may they enter without extraordinary cause. In this time, they shall engage in loud prayer and reverence of God whilst they refuel and relight Her Holy Flames and ensure that any offerings of a special nature are offered up in the correct manner. If, when the Blessed tries to enter the Most Holy of places, the door handle is too hot to touch, they are to take it as though God does not wish to allow them entry to Her Holy place, and must leave. Each of Her chosen shall try the doorknob before entry, to ensure that God is accepting of their entry.
III -
Conducting Services

When one orchestrates a gathering of people to honour God, they please Her greatly. Worship alongside your brothers and sisters in faith should always be considered more Holy than one's personal prayer. For it is in joint fellowship that we please God the most. The Church shall strive to glorify and raise the name of Ignis Synnove on high in all that it does, in all of their gatherings. Yet, as with shrines, there are times when a specific manner of worship is simply not feasibly compatible with a certain purpose. One would not praise God on high with song and offerings when one is burning the dead, for it is disrespectful to the life-fire that has been extinguished. Instead, we are to follow these guidelines for services so that we may worship God in a proper and respectful manner.
Baptisms and Funerals
The first and last services of anyone's journey as an Ignite should be the baptism and funeral respectively. The baptism celebrates the ignition of one's faith and the funeral respectfully commemorates the extinguishing of one's service. The baptism service should follow these words in deed and prayer, so that God may know that Her influence is to shine upon a new soul. First, they who mean to join the faithful are to spend a day among priests and Holy folk, so that they may meet and connect with their new family 'neath God. Then, they are to be cleansed before the Priest who is to oversee the procession. The aspirant shall be marked with a Holy cross made by the ash of burned birch wood, in the same manner that Harateth rose from the ashes as Ignis Synnove, so too will they rise from the ashes of their sinful nature into a faithful member of our Church. If the aspirant is of an age of adulthood they will be expected to accept the marking of God upon their forearm, so that all may know their true allegiance. The funeral service should follow these words in deed and prayer, so that God may know that one of Her faithful is to join Her in paradis. The dead shall be laid in state upon a marble table for an entire day and night, so that all may come before them and mourn privately. Candles and scented oils shall burn all around the corpse, so that they may enter paradis smelling pure and proper. Then, after the mourning period is over, the body shall be taken to a funeral pyre and marked with the Holy cross made by the ash of burned birch wood. This is to represent Harateth's death and ascension into the realm of Ignis Synnove. When this is done, the pyre shall be lit and the priest shall call upon God's grace so that she may know that Her child comes to join her in paradis.
Betrothals and Weddings
These services shall only ever occur whilst the Sun still shines. Nighttime weddings and evening betrothal ceremonies shall be unheard of. For these are occasions on which we celebrate unity to each other, and this unity pleases God, for it spreads Her influence further. We celebrate whilst the Sun shines to show that our intents are truthful and just before God on high, so that She may see Her children blossom. The betrothal ceremony should follow these words in deed and prayer so that God knows the intentions of all present and may help them stay true to their pledged word. The two who are to be betrothed shall be brought forth to a priest of God by their respective house patriarchs. The patriarch of the future groom is to place his hand upon this book and is to swear before God that they shall not renege on the betrothal. The patriarch of the future bride is then to place his hand upon this book and is to swear before God that they shall not renege on the betrothal. Then, the two who are to be betrothed are to exchange gifts in the form of a golden necklace that bears their counterpart's initials engraved onto an amulet that depicts the Sun. The priest is then to give thanks to both patriarchs and is to lead them in a prayer of gratitude so that they may give due thanks to God for all that she has given them. This is how all betrothals shall lawfully be performed, for this will surely please God. The ceremony of marriage shall follow these words in deed and prayer, so that God may see that Her children are intent on spreading Her will onto new life. The couple who are to be wed are to come to their priest before the Sun reaches its zenith. The priest shall lead their ceremony before the nearest shrine of appropriate celebration, so that God may witness the oaths shared by the Bride and Groom. The two shall exchange golden bands to not only signify their marriage to each other but also to the faith of God, as gold is a most Holy material and pleases God greatly.
