Inclusive Community
Veraci is a very inclusive, welcoming community open to existing and new characters. You do not need to make a new character to live here, or join our house. However, if you do want to make a native character, this thread is for you!

Overview
Veraci is themed off of late medieval/early Renaissance Venice. When you make a Veracian, just think whether your character would fit in to such a setting. Of course, our community has some elements of fantasy, so you should feel welcome to incorporate said elements into your character creation.

House
You do not need to join our house to live here or make a Veracian Character. Before you decide not to, know that joining House da Veraci simply means that your character is from Veraci and is a citizen. There is no royal family or important blood. So, joining the house is up to you!

Race
Because our house is simply a network of characters who are all from the same place, there are no race requirements. If it makes sense for your character to be from Veraci, then race is irrelevant.

Names
This one is a bit tricky, because we have to balance racial names with regional names. Veracian characters have three names, Given, Surname, and da Veraci. So, my character for example is Giuliano Mercante da Veraci. In game overhead names only allow 16 characters, so don't worry about putting da Veraci overhead. If you do not join the House, you don't use da Veraci at all.

If you choose to use racially appropriate names, that's fine. If you join the house, stick the da Veraci at the end and you're done.

Should you choose to use regionally accurate names, then you should stick to the "Does it work in 14th century Venice?" question. Speaking of which, here is a great website to use for naming: https://www.s-gabriel.org/names/arval/venice14/

A Bastard born in Veraci takes the Surname da Canal. So, Giuseppe, a Bastard native Veracian, would be Giuseppe da Canal da Veraci. His overhead and nickname drops da Veraci. If he has not joined the house, he does not use da Veraci at all.

Appearance
Humans are encouraged to incorporate a Mediterranean look/ Venetian look.

All other races are encouraged to incorporate some minor differences that still fit race lore. If it doesn't work, just roll with staying within your character's race appearance rules.

Closing Thoughts
If you have any questions, feel free to ask! While bloodlines do not matter for the house, I do encourage related characters to trim the number of orphan assassins.
