Charlemagne Lavoyarde

How can a man be happy if he does not serve the Lightbringer with his whole heart?.”
1529485925133.png

The Closed Fist of the Empire, they once called him. Primarch of the Federal Empire, the Holy Son of the High Imperateur. After that, he became known as Father Gregory, the Man of the Cloth. He has walked many paths and has seen many sights. He has lived a life of servitude, acting for the many and acting for God. As a boy, he signed his life away so that his Father could live again. He joined the Church indefinitely so that his Father could return and spread the Light of God once more. He set aside his ambitions and his future so that the Imperium of God would endure. A life of luxury and noble indulgence, signed away for the greater good of God's realm. In place of soirees and wine, he held mass and drank water. In the place of mighty declarations and prestigious honours, he held sermons and received little thanks. He did all of this with the knowledge and pride that his life, his very breath, was fueling God's Realm on Altera. For a time, at least, all was well.
However, as with all things good, God's realm fell apart. Civil war raged between fire and light and in its wake there was nothing. His father was gone, so too was his brother. Their once mighty Imperium lay in ashes. The oath he had spoken and the sacrifices he had made became worthless. Yet, to this day he still serves God with every waking breath. For thou shalt remain faithful to thy pledged word.

Where there is doubt, I shall sow faith
========================================
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE
Height: 5'11.
Weight: He may be visibly aging, but Charlemagne maintains a composed physique that suggests some level of exercise.
Eye Color: The deep royal purple of the Arcturian bloodline.
Skin Color: Fair skinned, blemished with an increasing amount of laughter lines.
Distinguishing Features: It is not often that one sees purple eyes outside of a moor's head.

Build of Body: Once an example of the Arcturian need for a combat-ready, Knighty physique, Charlemagne has since allowed the tolls of age and his profession to whittle away his musculature and yet, still he seems to hold an innate athletic build, particularly around the shoulders and upper arms. Perhaps built from the excess of physical labour he still does to this day.
Hair: Charlemagne's hair and beard has long since betrayed the signs of his aging, its once dark colour mottled with greying and silver throughout.

Where there is shame, I shall point atonement
========================================
PERSONALITY
Values: Family, honesty and order. If one is to live a good life, in the eyes of God and of Charlemagne, they simply need to follow these three principles. Love your family, remain honest even in the face of armageddon and always follow the natural order of things. For God made things this way and we must be thankful.
Education: During his youth, Charlemagne was tutored by the best in the realm, with his father being the undoubted singular power in the realm. Since then, his knowledge base has only expanded. He actively studies topics ranging from Law to Astronomy, taking great care in the following of each task at hand.
Languages:
- Common
- Lavoyarde
- Old Arcturian
General Attitude: Charlemagne tries to remain outwardly positive and honest. He looks to people with the respect and warmth that their ranks or titles demand, but beyond that there are very few that he will show human warmth toward. As such, his professionalism seems to paint him an overly serious man who cares for little more than God, despite that not being the case. Charlemagne takes great care and wonder in life's finer things, such as family, the rule of law and astronomy.
Religious Inclination: Ignis Synnove. His religious ideals follow closely that of the doctrine itself, respect and acknowledgement is given to later works, but Charlemagne sees them as secondary to the doctrine, always. The various codices have their contradictions, for sure, but one thing they do not contradict each other on is the nature of the Doctrine and the words therein. Truth is paramount, never can one falter into dishonesty, even in the face of oblivion. Nobility in heart and in status is the prime state of the human being, the glory and prestige that it brings is what all should strive for. Law and order should be upheld, lest the world be ruled by animals.

General Intelligence: Largely arguable dependent on how one sees him. He has been educated well and he strives to learn in many fields, but perhaps he is a jack of all trades and master of none.
General Sociability: He talks when he finds the need and has no qualms with meeting others. However, he is happy and finds solace in bouts of solitude.
Alignment: Lawful Good.

Where there is rage, I shall show its course
========================================
HEALTH
Illnesses: None.
Injuries: None.
Sleeping Habits: A good six hours each day, maybe seven or eight if it is Friday night.
Energy Levels: Surprisingly high for a man who is in his fifth decade.
Eating Habits: He eats well enough to sustain his lifestyle, with little in the way of excess unless the occasion calls for it.
Exercise Habits: Charlemagne spends a lot of his servitude to God performing physical labour such as cleaning, gardening and maintaining shrines. He finds his body aptly exercised and taken care of by such deeds.
Memory: Fairly fuzzy for the days of his youth, he simply remembers them as fond summer days with his family in Le Havre.
Unhealthy Habits: Not many.
Drinking Habits: Only when the occasion calls for it, otherwise he sticks to tea.

D A I L Y - R I T U A L S

Instilled within him during his time as a member of the Ecclesiarchy, Charlemagne's day is extremely regimented. This is a brief, generalised, view of his daily rituals.

0600 | Morning Prayer - Before dawn, Charlemagne wakes. He dresses and moves to one of two places, based on the season. During the warmer half of the year, he will take to praying outside before the Sun itself, knelt toward Sunrise, praying out loud in Old Arcturian. During the colder half of the year, Charlemagne takes to praying indoors in the chapel, still facing East and chanting aloud in Old Arcturian. These prayers are recited and recorded, they are the same each Morn. These prayers are not to ask for guidance or beg forgiveness, these prayers have the sole purpose of celebrating the new day and God's great dawn.

0700 | Morning Meal - The first meal of the day is consumed, often with Arielle. A brief prayer of grace is given to God, for providing the meal for them.

1200 | Midday Prayer - As with the morning prayer, when midday strikes, Charlemagne is found in one of two places; outside or in the chapel. As the Sun reaches its zenith in the sky, it is able to see all. So this is the time that Charlemagne takes to reflect and look upon his actions, praying for guidance in matters of faith and research.

1300 | Midday Meal - Luncheon is consumed, often alone in his office. A brief prayer of grace is given to God, for providing the meal.

1315 | Tutoring with Arielle - This can take many forms, from practical lessons in the ways of ettiquette to discussing religious and court rhetoric. A prayer before and after is given to God. The first asks for assistance in helping Arielle to understand the lessons she recieves, the last asks for God to guide her in using these lessons in her daily life.

1500 | Servitude - During this time, Charlemagne serves God in a physical and laborious display of devotion. This often takes the form of keeping his chapel holding clean and maintained. Other times it takes the form of gardening, whatever actions Charlemagne takes, he uses the time to meditate and think about his service to God.

2000 | Evening Meal - Supper is consumed, with Arielle. Talks about the day are had and they each give gracious thanks to God for their meal.

2100 Evening Prayer - This prayer is almost exclusively held within the chapel. Charlemagne takes to sitting alone upon a pew to pray. It is during this time that his prayers are tailored and personal, often kept to secular and tangible issues. Prayers of thanks, of penance and requesting answers are often held during this time.

2130 | Nightly Research - After his prayers are complete, Charlemagne takes the little free time that he has to research. This takes various forms, secular and clerical. As of late it is split evenly between astronomy and writing up drafts for the formation of the new Church and its Holy See.

2300 | Maintenance of Equipment - During this time, Charlemagne polishes and otherwise maintains the relics of his youth, so that they may be ready should God call upon his services. His golden plate and his various weapons are kept pristine and pure.

2345 | Free Time - Charlemagne's free time is extremely limited. It is during this time that he will take to reading for pleasure or playing games of Ur with Arielle.

0000 | Rest Period - Charlemagne has an allocated length of 6 hours to rest and dream of the day he will enter Paradis.

========================================
We have burned cities and taken hundreds of lives. What shall we say when they ask why?
Is our only response to simply say "I am right, so you are wrong"?
The answer is, it does not matter. We are right and they are wrong. It is a simple truth.
========================================

========================================

We must proclaim this truth to all that we meet. We must bring God's wrath against
those who refuse it. Not because we wish for their lands or their wealth, but because
they are harbingers of dishonesty, through ignorance they spread lies.
We must illuminate and educate them, by the grace of God.

RELATIONS:
- Ignis Synnove

The love that Charlemagne has for his God is one that is hard to put into words. Throughout his entire life, devotion to Her will has been paramount and put above his own whims and wishes. Oaths made to Her when he was a boy have held him in place, even as tragedy has wrought his family apart. Yet, Charlemagne believes that all is part of God's plan and that through his faith during these testing times, God will provide. He knows that his family is held in high regard and will always be seen as paragons of the true Faith, seekers of Order and bringers of Light.

- Arielle du Lavoyarde
The closest thing that Charlemagne has to a daughter. He has raised her from infancy and hopes that he has imparted unto her all that she needs to know to bring glory to the Lightbringer. He knows that he, at times, has crossed the line of mentor and surrogate father and finds himself wondering if it is truly a bad thing. She is the only family that he has left and he means to cherish her wholly. Elz

- Podric Flanders
God's latest chosen. He hopes to work with the man in the future, once God recognises the devotion and work he has put into reforming the Church.

- The Kanes
It is interesting for Charlemagne to see the next generation of Nobles grow before him and it has always been an amusement of his, to see how they act. He believes that the Kane twins are capable, yet cold. However, he values their power in the North. Lannis NIAH

Various updates.

I want to make this look cooler, give me ideas below.
Add theme music, use more of those fancy dividers to make it easier to read.

Perhaps a personality test or ambition tracker.

oh, and add Otto to relations.
