Written Test!
An old northman, hailing from the far reaches of Halbed, harkins his way through the thick and fierce snow. The pilgrimage for the man has been taken by few, though for few have lost so much in these times. The man journeys south to warmer lands, if only for a time - though he leaves behind a terrible burden, and walks forward into the storms ahead. Hard, icy roads block his way, so he takes the path of the lake, as he knew it as a child. He knew it to be safer, as the storm was not as fierce to the west. He would have waited for it to pass, though he feared it was too late to turn back - the fool! Carefully, he traverses it, as a frayed step into the lake would pierce his frost touched boots, and peal to the bone of its marrow. Should he plunge into icy and cold waters, the very flesh that rested against his cheeks would explode; his mind dying before it could touch the land again. A shiver erupts from his feet, like tiny bombs that go between each root of hair. The man recoils, almost tripping in the process. The lake looms beneath him like a ghoul, reaching out and calling his name. He recovers, pausing for a moment, then harkins on.

“Ignis, guide me with your strength…” he mutters, clinging onto his heirloom in that moment. “Let me see the sunrise once more on these old bones.” And with another step, he goes.

The ice is slow. Though not in the way you would think. It was once thought in the mind of this man that little ice greylings lived beneath the bergs, chewing away as a man would walk across it, feasting a great feast that lasted a thousand generations. Nonsense, of course. Though it held truth in the ways the old wives told it - something the man would not understand. The way seemed clear enough, though, the man would think to himself, and he would take meticulous steps, feeling for the thicker parts and avoiding what would be a certain death. The crunch beneath his toes seemed to tickle his fate. The snowflakes ever softly falling seemed like anvils against his back. The wind, like dancers in the air, disrupted his fraughtful gaze. But he held; though as foolishly as he was, he held.

But then he saw it. The light, promised by his god, peering from the sky. What fool to wish for the strength of light when he would wish for speed! But the man was no fool to the suns promises - the promise to melt the thing that kept him from his death. Halfway from shore to shore, he quickened his pace. The crunch of his boots trns to cracks, while the wind yells and hallows and screams, and turning his waist round and round he goes and goes and goes, ever so gently nudging his feet to fail his way; the wind, pushing harder for the man to fall, frantically moving, practically shaking, muttering madness, while moving only so fast as to not crack what kept him alive so far, but with vigor in his eye and the greylings feasting aside he moves and paces and suddenly -- falls! Down he went. Though the man was lucky. His face, crunched up like a crusty rag against a white yet cold blanket, lets out a balming sigh.
