Dominant Hand: Left.
Handwriting: He writes his name pretty well.

Appearance
Height: 6'3
Weight: Heavy.
Species: Homo sapien.

Apparent age: Middle-aged.

Hair Color: Brown.
Hair Length: Long.
Hair Type: Voluminous.
Hair Style: Parted down the middle.

Facial Hair: Long and fierce.

Health and Image
Wardrobe: He dresses warmly, but not richly.
Equipment: His primary weapon is a partisan spear, with one long and thin point in the middle of two outstretching arms on either side, and when he has this he will also have his shield on his person, which is a simple coffin shield with a boss. But also on his person is a short bearded axe and a more utilitarian seax. Hartwin also has an old spangenhelm with cheek guards but no nasal guard with some odd runic writing on the inside of one of the cheek guards.
Trinkets: He has a little leather cord he uses to tie his hair back before battle. Hartwin hasn't died yet, so he thinks of the leather cord as being lucky.
Piercings: n/a
Scars: He's lost some feeling in his left hand from some old nerve damage, his face has lots of little scars from battles long past, and he probably has other scars sort of spattered across his body.
Tattoos: n/a

Diet: While he has a favorite dish of fish and cheese, he'll eat anything on the table if he's hungry enough.
Exercise: Mostly just from practicing the same fighting motions again and again.
Fitness: He's fit enough for his purposes.
Hygiene: Clean enough.
Martial Arts: Familiar with the spear and shield, as well as the axe and shield.
Posture: Stiff.
Dexterity: While not exactly nimble, manual dexterity speaks nothing for his speed. He is fast and decisive in his motions, as someone in his line of work should be.

Voice
Accent/Dialect: A very subdued norvagen accent, bastardized with something that passes for whatever a Lavoyardian accent would be.
Pitch: Deep.
Range: His voice cracks if he tries to sound too high.
Volume: He does not often speak, but when he does he has trouble keeping to a whisper.
Laughter: Boisterous and abrupt, a guffaw.
Impediments: n/a

Psychology
Languages: Fluently speaks Common. An "understanding" of Lavoyarde, and a similar "understanding" of Rede. He knows a few words, or at least thinks he knows a few words, in the ancient language of his forebears.
Memory: Good.
Temperament: A rather calm and slow to anger person.
Learning Type: Aural.
Emotional Stability: While he is slow to anger, when he gets there it tends to ruin his mood for a long time to come.
Bodily-Kinesthetic: He has good hand-eye coordination.
Interpersonal: Hartwin likes to keep a small, close-knit group at hand, but he often feels like an outsider amongst others. This feeling of being on the outside looking in with most people has lended him a kind of emotional distance from others that enables him to look at intricate social webs more objectively than he would otherwise.
Intrapersonal: Hartwin often feels unease with himself.
Linguistic: The prospect of learning another language intimidates him, and this mental block belies his fascination with strange exotic tongues.
Logical-Mathematical: Hartwin is more naturally inclined to flights of fancy, but he can look at things in a cold way too if he has to.
Musical: Hartwin enjoys parsing out the individual rhythms of a song that make up the whole, but cannot read sheet music.
Naturalistic: As could be expected of someone who became a guard when a young man and who has honed his craft over the year, while Hartwin is accustomed to looking as much as feeling like he's bored and overweight, when it suits him he can be perceptive and cautious of threats in his environment more than the average bear.
Spatial: Hartwin has a good grasp of his person and his surroundings, but as far as fighting goes this only extends to the weapons he is especially familiar with.

Perception
Audition: Hartwin is good at listening to the subtle vocal cues in other people that lend him an edge in social confrontations, but beyond people Hartwin has hearing that's about average for a man of his age.
Gustation: He's a real licker, he is.
Olfaction: His sense of smell is average.
Taction: Hartwin has lost feeling in half of his left hand, but he can still move it just fine. His sense of touch is otherwise fine.
Vision: Hartwin has good eyesight. He is able to see perfectly, a bit above average over the normal person, something like 20/15 vision (what an average person could see clearly at 15 feet, Hartwin could see at 20 feet).
Intuition: He has a good feel for people and what he expects they'll be able to do, garnered over years of making a good run at predicting them.
Synesthesia: Hartwin's senses are all as appropriate and distinct from one another.

Philosophy
Religion: Hartwin's parents could have been called Norvagen, but Hartwin himself considers himself distinct. With their recent passing, he has since moved on even more from his heritage, distancing himself in his grief. He believes vaguely in the fundamentals of the classical Norvagen philosophy and feels conflicted at the worship of the gods of the people around him, but has kept this hidden and only vaguely hinted at anything of the sort.
Devotion: Hartwin is after meaning in life, but doesn't know what that meaning is.
Superstitions: Lots, but no major overarching one or any theme to tie them together.

Allegiance: Hartwin owes loyalty to the d'Everaux clan, who have treated him fairly and paid him well for many years now. But he sees this more as a continual contract, and it would only take a few weeks or months of ill treatment and them not fulfilling their own obligations for him to seek greener grass elsewhere.

Morality: There is a strong sense of balance to the man, seeking to balance some cosmological check book as it were. He repays his debts, honors his obligations, and is a responsible man who is caring when he can afford to be. But this sense of balance goes both ways. He feels the same need to balance things out in terms of vengeance and repaying bad deeds with the same behavior. But he takes no joy in the darker side of things, and feels that people should be inclined to the same sort of peaceful behavior he, ironically, seeks out despite also pursuing a martial tradition.
Alignment: Neutral.
Etiquette: Hartwin is often composed, but unfamiliar with the customs of people outside of his immediate vicinity more often than not.
Attitude: Take things as they come, leave them as they go.
Outlook on Life: Hartwin is unfulfilled. He looks at the people around him who have pursued simpler lives and how they, despite not having seen the world, have left things behind nevertheless. By contrast, Hartwin is the last living son of his father, and has been out of touch with his cousins for years before the last great migration to the eastern continent. He is worried that he will leave nothing behind, and wants to make a mark on the world, even a small one.

Philosophy: There is wisdom in the world, and if Hartwin could understand even a part of it, he feels he would understand more about his own place in it.
Vices: He smokes a pipe now and again.
Virtues: Dilligence, and a deep sense of responsibility.

Character
Primary Objective: He wants to find a deeper meaning, or more likely stumble across it while doing something else.
Secondary Objectives: Continue serving the d'Everaux clan. Further hone his craft and trade. Some day, retire. Perhaps pursue his father's trade of being a warsmith, but not now.
Priorities: Fulfill his obligations.
Self-Confidence: A healthy level.
Motivation: It's hard to suss out the why of motivation, but he wouldn't admit it's mostly just a sense of personal responsibility that leads him to do much of what he does, instead of anything larger in the word that drives him.

Desires: Hartwin wants nothing more than to be a good, moral man.
Wishes: He'd like it if a lot of things weren't how they were or were how they ought to be, but he does not believe in wishing.
Lures: The usual.
Traumas: The death of the culture of his forebears, leaving him without a sense of identity and no heroes to aspire toward being alike.
Worries: Standard stuff, not being able to fulfill his own personal morality.
Instigators: Unfair callousness for its own sake.
Soothers: Places with a sense of familiarity and comfort to them.
Savvies: Being a guard, being around others, being the loyal retainer of people needing protection.
Ineptitudes: He is a incredibly reactive person. He does not actively seek out very much, and when it seems like he is, often this in and of itself is a result of his reactive nature responding to some motivator inside himself.
Soft Spots: Vulnerable people, because he wants to be some nice big protector guy.
Cruel Streaks: I mean once he kicked a cat but that was in part because it kept walking under his feet and it was mostly an accident.

Ego: He is not an overbearing person, and is quick to concede he may be wrong.
Mannerisms: Brusque, but polite.
Patience: A fountain of it.
Phobias: Deep water.

Combat
Ability: He'd rather fuss out a fight is about to happen and de-escalate than bring his full might to bear on someone, but as a guard he is responsible for the safety of others under any conditions. He is able to fight, not as much as a learned duelist, but well enough for his purposes with spear, axe, and shield.
Strengths: A rather defensively minded fighter, reactive as in his nature, but able to be sudden and decisive if he sees an opening.
Weaknesses: While experience is on his side, he has no natural aptitude and is too old now to devote the next twenty years to martial pursuits.
