Considered by some to be the most Prominent Halfling House many half kin can trace at least some connection back to the Halflings of Lydel valley.

House Lydel is a house only in name. In truth it is more of a family but it was elevated to house and noble status in (year) under the reign of merchant king wollston stirling of Tambry for Cedric Lydels service to the royal family.

The family history's wail detailed in more detail below is a long and well documented succession of halflings beginning long ago under house Marr in the lands know by the same name of Lydel.

The family of Lydel has long departed from the wayward traveling ways of its brothers in favor of the "flatfoot" lifestyle. Because of this the family has settled in many locations most often plains and valleys where best they can grow crops and tend gardens.

The family is currently settled at Aurum Orchard under the Abermore royal family in the south.
These lands by right belong to the eldest Lydel and any standing exalt of the family's patron god Jax.

Lydels in later years often grow fat and plump in the face. This is largely because the food Enjoyed by the family is historically sweet. Nearly all lydels have a deep rooted love bordering on obsession with food and dessert in particular. Here is a few that are unique to the house.

SEED CAKE

Light fluffy sweet and very fatty with a slight hint of brandy. Seed cake is enjoyed twice daily in Lydel Holdings.

Lydel is known for having many musicians among the family. A few of there songs have become popular to play in courts and taverns.

"A Hymn for Habin" - Auntie Fori Lydel
Written By Habin's Sister Fori on the day that would have been his 90th birthday. The song has become a common birthday and holiday song. Traditionally when played the dancers are asked to remove there shoes and dance in the grass.

"A cry from Cochran" - Sondivi Mistbitten-Lydel
The song was wirrent shortly after House Stirling Bought the lands of Lydel and constructed over them. The blame for the sale fell upon Habin's Eldest son Andel Lydel and afterward he was disowned by the family. The Lydel's Wept for Lydel and for years lived in poverty of The Cochran slums of Tambry. Sondivi has said the composition is meant to reflect the unwavering hope coupled with the despair of that time.

House Lydel is sometimes known for it's keeping and raising of "Lydel bull hounds" (OOC Saint bernards)

The reason this has become common knowledge is the comical size difference between the halflings of lydel and there loyal bull hounds. The Dogs can grow nearly twice as tall as there masters. Lydel's train the animals as companions more than anything, Not being naturally aggressive and tending to be extremely lazy in there adult years the animals are of little practical use beyond shepherding or sentry work

(Would use them as riding dogs if I got clearance from lore.)
