The Strand family is a pure-blooded northern house of mostly human lineage. They trace their roots back across the Sea of Storms to the northern kingdoms, where they are descended from a line of hunters, a name unknown until First Chieftain Querig Tryggvi Strand first founded Vinterhavn in the Northern Kingdoms, and later Stoltfar in the Eastern Frontier. Despite being northerners, they share no heritage or culture with the northern cultures rooted in the old Anhald and Lavoyarde empires. In the current age, the family rules over the Strandir, their clan which sits in the north as a power dedicated to neutrality and non-expansionism, acting as stalwart guardians over the Whitelands and Theodra's doctrine but rarely interceding in the political affairs of the realm.
Their colors are blue, black and green, and their full coat of arms is a teal snowflake centered over a green lozenge, cradled in the antlers of a front-facing stag, on top of a black field with a blue border. Their house words are,“Wisdom Guide Our Strength,” taken from Theodra’s holy words. The saying is often used as a formal farewell, or in a more shortened form in more informal situations, simply "Wisdom guide." An extended form is often said at the close of prayers to Theodra- "May wisdom guide our strength, and may our aim always be true."

The bastion of the Strandir dedicated to be the ancestral home of the Strand family, situated on the barren northern coastal tundra of the New Frontier’s main continent. It consists of a Keep which serves as the stronghold and Strand family home, as well as a fishing and cargo port, a small town inside the outer walls and a Sacred Wood, a walled in area of boreal forest and tundra plantlife with paths running through it and a gathering area surrounding a large pyre, which serves as a holy place of worship to Theodra.
Family History
{Querig Tryggvi Strand} - First Chieftain
The first chieftain of the Strandir and the founder and first earl of Stoltfar, Tryg first established his family name in the Northern Kingdoms before the Undead invasion, when he founded the northern hamlet of Vinterhavn as a vassal to Lord Alistair and Lady Niah Kane. This oath was not renewed when Niah suddenly died and their daughter Alison usurped control, and while Alison never attempted to force fealty from Tryg, the First Chieftain would hold enormous disdain and hatred for Alison for the rest of his days. After Tryg took his people to the Eastern Frontier and eventually founded the bastion of Stoltfar, he devoted himself to becoming Theodra's first Blessed, acting as a paragon of her doctrine and fighting alongside the myriad other forces of the realm to preserve it for his own people. Over the course of his life, he developed few close alliances and few dedicated enemies - but for him, both friend and foe alike would remain entrenched in their places until his death. Though in the realm at large he is equal parts loved and hated, among the people of the Strandir he is their First Chieftain, and a proud father to the very end.
{Odette Strand} - First Chieftess
The first chieftess of the Strandir. Odette, like Tryg, came from the Northern Kingdoms, but was not always tied to the first chieftain. Though their paths crossed many times and they were always good friends, it was not until shortly before they traveled north to found Stoltfar that they began courting and she became truly devoted to him. Though they both fought through many hardships, Odette undoubtedly suffered the greater between the two, and it made her infamously fierce and violent where Tryg tended to be more level-headed and stable. Sometimes referred to as the "Mother Bear," she is seen by the Strandir as the embodiment of mercilessness and undying dedication to the protection of one's family.
Segar Strand - Chieftain and Earl of Stoltfar
The eldest offspring of Chieftain Tryg, Odette is not his mother by blood. He was instead born to a woman named Dunamis, to whom Tryg was engaged but who later abandoned Segar as an infant with his father for unknown reasons. However, because of the familial traditions of the Strandir, he is treated no differently from his younger sister Eleanor, bearing their family name and holding the same status as a full member of the family. As a chieftain, he has entered the position with a determination to balance his dedication to his family name and his desire to do right by his parents with a desire to distance himself from the grudges his father collected over the course of his life, and use his clean slate to seek better relations with the other northern powers for the sake of making it a more peaceful and stable region for the future. As Earl of Stoltfar, he also has direct dominion over the daily proceedings of the bastion.
Eleanor Strand - Chieftess, Warden of the Hunt
The second offspring of Chieftain Tryg and the only child he fathered with Odette, Eleanor was raised alongside her brother Segar and came of age to rule three years after him. As a chieftess, she is generally quiet, leaving much of the talking to her older brother when they are together and following his lead on many things, but not without having wisdom and strength of her own. She is clever and cunning in her own right, and more than capable of taking the initiative on addressing matters, whether they fall within or outside of her clan. As Warden of the Hunt, she also has direct dominion over the Whitelands lying within the claims of her clan, overseeing all hunting to make sure it abides by Theodra's doctrine, as well as watching for trespassers, and planning any potential future projects and holdings outside of Stoltfar proper.
