The boy lived a life of luxury, more so than he did as a Prince of Tuali. He was seen to a proper teaching on how to be a prince, how to court ladies and how to strategize war plans. He grew up to be a strapping young man, with a intelligent and inquisitive mind. His 30th birthday was a day like any other, he did not celebrate with other preferring to spend his time alone. He had lied about his original birthday so he had two every year. One with a great banquet and another with bread and butter. It was going to be a calm and boring day of holding court with the king, hunting and sword practice.

However it was not going to be like Surin planned, he was discussing about the southern-men in the war-room with the king when it happened. There was a sudden large explosion which shook the entire castle, a guard rushed into the room panting. "Your liege, th- the southern-men are attacking!"

Surin ran out onto the battlements, his king beside him. There were many fires in the distance, all throughout the city. Looking down he could see a group of soldiers defending some villagers from an onslaught of Southern-men.

The Southern-men were pushing the soldiers further and further up the street nearing a dead end. Surin turned to his king, "My liege, i must assist the guard!".
"You have my leave, keep safe." said the king.

Down near the gate house things were out of hand, the guard were struggling to keep the gates closed; a loud banging could be heard from the other side. Surin rushed up to the nearest guard, "Who is your commanding officer here?"
The guard looked at him startled and then ran off as he saw some Southern-men climbing over the walls.
"I would be the commanding officer here" said a guard beside him "Prince Surin we need assistance, the gate cannot hold much longer!" shouted the officer. True to his word the gate started to splinter as the battering ram broke through. Southern-men started rushing through the remains like ants. "The Southern-men have breached the palace!" he heard some one shout,
"We must hold them back, they cannot reach the king!". There was no time to waste, he needed to get back to the king before they were overun, he started off in the direction of the throne room but was blocked by 3 Southern-men. With no time to waste he swung his sword at them, taking the head of the first one and disemboweling the second. The third with a look in fear in his eyes ran off but to only be shot in the leg by a crossbowman.

The doors the throne room was strewn aside, they lay in splinters on the floor. Am i too late? Rushing in he saw General Laxon beside the throne. Good he thought, Laxon can help me defend the king. Surin paused for a moment, Something was wrong. Laxon had blood on his clothes and an look of dread on his face, there was something slumped in the throne. It wasn't until he got closer he realised what it was.
