National Novel Writing Month Challenge

So, there's this thing that happens every year that I just found out about a few weeks ago called the National Novel Writing Month Challenge, or NaNoWriMo for short. Basically, you try to write a 50,000+ word novel in one month. It's meant to be a super rough draft, so no real editing or anything, just slap words on pages till you make it. After the month is when editing and whatnot comes in. Anyways, here's a link:

It's late notice so if you want to join in you'll be a bit behind but it's not too late to get started. I encourage anyone looking to push themselves on writing to join in. I'm going to link my own attempt below, and if you want to join me, please feel free to link yours as well.


Here's the link to the google doc for my story down below. As said above, it's going to be super rough draft, as it should be for the challenge. I'll gladly take any criticisms or thoughts you might have, though they will likely not be edited in until after the month is over, unless it's something I haven't wrote yet like direction on where to go with the story or some such. that's why I jumped on it. I've been wanting to do some heavy writing for a long time but kept making up excuses and putting it off. this kind of challenge is what I needed to get actually moving.

Not meaning to double post, but letting everyone that has messaged me with interest in my story know that I'll be adding around 2k words or so a day, so feel free to check up on it every few days. If I start slacking feel free to hound me on it as well, hah.

How long is 50,000 words in size 11 or 12 font?

It's only an estimation, due to differences in spacing - heavy dialog requires more space than heavy setting description - but if my estimations are correct I believe it'll be on average right around one hundred pages, if using Arial font at size 11.
