Laws of The Eisenfaust.




Murder


The crime of murder is the slaying of another party outside of wartime or duels.


01.a - If the criminal is a denizen, and the victim a denizen, they shall be executed
and their possessions shall be given to the victim’s local nobleman.

01.b - If the criminal is a denizen, and the victim a merited nobleman, they shall be
executed and their possessions shall be given to the victim’s next of kin. If the nobleman
does not have a next of kin, the possessions shall be given to the High Lord.

01.c - If the criminal is a merited nobleman, and the victim is a denizen, they shall pay a
fine of the victim’s weight in gold to that denizen’s local nobleman. [OOC - 1 gold ingot
for every ten pounds the victim weighs, found on their character sheet. If they have no
listed weight, 160 pounds is assumed for women, and 180 for men.]

01.d - If the criminal is a merited nobleman, and the victim is a merited nobleman,
they shall be executed and their possessions shall be given to the victim’s next of kin.
If the nobleman does not have a next of kin, the possessions shall be given to the High Lord.

01.e - If the murder was accidental and can be proven so, a denizen criminal must
surrender their arms and armour to the crown permanently and serve a three week
sentence. A merited nobleman receives no punishment.


01.f - The length of time after a murder in which the murderer may still be tried is
indefinite, as per the wishes of the victim’s next of kin.

Assault


The crime of assault is the attempted slaying or injury of another party outside of wartime or duels.


02.a - If the criminal is a denizen, and the victim a denizen, they must surrender their
arms and armour to their local nobleman permanently and serve a one month sentence.
02.b - If the criminal is a denizen, and the victim a merited nobleman, they shall serve a
period of one month in jail, and a fine of half the victim's weight in gold in addition to
the prison sentence.
02.c - If the criminal is a merited nobleman, and the victim a merited nobleman, they
shall pay a fine of no less than 1000 radiants, subject to the Noble Court, to that
victimized nobleman, and possible forfeiture of an amount of land to the victim as
determined by the Noble Court.

Treason


The crime of treason is acting against the state whilst being a member of the state.

Many crimes can be considered treason if they are judged to be so.


03.a - If the criminal is a denizen, they shall be executed and their possessions shall be
given to the state.
03.b - If the criminal is a nobleman, they shall be granted the choice of death or exile
and loss of their dominant hand and foot.
03.c - If the criminal is a nobleman and chooses exile, they shall be granted their
possessions and family members with the exception of their eldest son or heir
and their arms and armour.

Unrest


The crime of disturbing the public by causing a scene by means violent or untoward.


04.a - Public outbursts of sheer drunkenness and/or disorderly conduct by a denizen
will result in the offending party being warned by the guard.
04.b - Ignoring warnings issued by the guard will lead to a night spent incarcerated.
04.c - Repeat cases will lead to a fine of 100 radiants per night spent incarcerated,
with each night stacking with each offense.
04.d - If the criminal non-violently resists arrest for any crime (I.e. Running away),
a fine of 200 radiants will be placed upon them.
04.e - If the criminal violently resists arrest for any crime, a fine of 500 radiants will
be placed upon them, in addition to any punishments they may possibly accrue.

Damage


The crime of damage is the breaking of property possessed by another party or by the state.


05.a - A denizen criminal shall serve a sentence of one day for every 50 radiants
worth of damaged property.
05.b - A denizen criminal shall serve a sentence of one day for every 10 radiants
worth of damaged property belonging to a nobleman.
05.c - A merited nobleman shall serve a sentence of one day for every 150 radiants
worth of damaged property belonging to a nobleman.
05.d - If a denizen is guilty of arson of a home, they shall serve a three week prison sentence.
05.e - If a merited nobleman is guilty of arson of a home, they shall serve a fine of
radiants equating the worth of the home in question.
05.f - If the criminal is guilty of arson of a state building, they shall serve a
five week prison sentence.
05.g - Arson of a state building may be tried as treason as the Noble Court sees fit.

Theft


The crime of theft is removal of property from another party without permission.


06.a - The robbery of travellers is theft.
06.b - The robbery of homes is theft.
06.c - The robbery of denizens and merchants is theft.
06.d - If the stolen property is worth less than 100 radiants, the criminal must
return the stolen property and pay a fine of half its worth.
06.e - A denizen shall serve a sentence of one week for every 100 radiants worth
of property they have stolen.
06.f - If the stolen property is over 1000 radiants, the Noble Court may choose
between the full sentence, a half sentence and the loss of the criminal’s offending
hand, or a half sentence of indentured servitude to the victim.
06.g - If a denizen has entered a home and confessed to having the intent to steal
but has not stolen property, they will serve a one week sentence.

Banditry


The crime of banditry is the removal of property from the state without permission


07.a - The robbery of carriages, caravans, and merchant shipping is banditry.
07.b - The robbery of banks, castles, and storehouses is banditry.
07.c - The robbery of noblemen is banditry.
07.d - If the stolen property is worth less than 100 radiants, a denizen must return
the stolen property and pay a fine equal to the stolen property’s worth.
07.e - If the stolen property is worth less than 100 radiants, a merited nobleman must
return the stolen property or pay for the replacement.
07.f - A denizen shall serve a sentence of two weeks for every 100 radiants worth of
property they have stolen.
07.g - A merited nobleman shall reimburse 300 radiants for every 200 radiants
worth of property they have stolen.
07.h - Banditry may be tried as treason if deemed necessary by the Noble Court.

Indentured Servitude

The act of a servant to provide willing services for a noble.

08.a - A contract must be signed by both the servant and noble party.
Showing that the servitude is willing and finite, unless such is agreed upon by both
parties in a Noble Court and signed by the High Lord, or as ruled by the Noble Court.
08.b - The possession of a servant without the proper contract is nonlawful,
and punishable as the Noble Court sees just.

Heresy

The crime of heresy is speaking or working against The Pantheon, outside of reason.

09.a - Any and all heretics no matter of status will be tried and executed as the court sees just.
09.b - Attacks against those under the influence of Jishrim or Skraag are not considered
heretical.

The Noble Court

The governing body in place at the time of arrest.

10.a - The Noble Court reserves the right to make changes to this document at anytime,
for any reason, and without notice.
10.b - The Noble Court may rule that a crime does not fit any of the crimes listed above,
yet is still punishable by the court. As such crimes are unknown, the sentencing will be
in response to said crimes.
10.c - Any person who is not being tried for treason may appeal to their crimes and put
forth a sentence to suffer in the stead of the original ruling. Upon which the Noble Court
will decide a new just sentence.
10.d - If a crime was committed in service to the Noble Court then a member of the Noble
Court may see it as a justified course of action.
10.e - If the Noble Court is convened to handle a case of a Nobleman against a Nobleman,
the losing party is to pay a fine of 500 radiants per hour per noble to the Court.
10.f - If a Nobleman cannot pay for a fine of any kind, they are to be lowered to denizen
and charged as befitting their new caste.​
