Telarion Culture

Introduction
I was sitting around today at work pondering and thinking about how we have a french inspired culture from the lavoyards. Having had talked to brain earlier in the day about a new building project I have in mind, I was thinking how about a culture that is in Europe but opposite of the lavoyards. So I sat for awhile and googled around on my phone in the downtime and found my inspiration for it.When I get home tomorrow I will update this when I have much more time to write then I do now and have time to sit and discuss more of it in detail with brain. But for now I hoep you enjoy the teasers I threw in a image of the building as well.

The Telarion's

Tel-Ari-On's

"From the spray to the sea, to the till in the soil all work has its profits"

The Telarions are a group of people sharing the same belief structure and understanding of politics. Developing seperatly from those of the south over time and the lands of Avalorn to the north east. Banding together in a time of strife with the downfall of so many kingdoms trying to find solace and peace. Each coming from diffrent walks of life and each in turn welcome with open arms as brothers and sisters.

Society

Telarion society is broken down into three diffrent social classes the nobility, wealthy middle class and the average commoner. Each class preforms an important role in society and while one may be a peasent it is perfectly feasibly with ones own hard efforts and merrits. That they may rise slowly and steadily threw the ranks and better their lives.

Peasent Life
Peasent Life is a very rough and difficult life awash with sickness poverty and hard work. The lifespan of those in this life is often very short. Most work on farms, fishing, and other forms of hard labor that is very unskilled labor.

Living conditions in this life is not ideal to the very least facing no sewage to sport, trash left in streets sickness is a common thing and disease a daily part of life. A majority of those in this lifestyle bracket live in small thatched huts with one or two rooms usualy with very crude stools and tables.along with straw beds. Walls are made out of mostly timber or brick varying on what one could afford.

Education is suprisngly common part of life even in a peasent time church sponsored schooling is allowed by the priests of Silas. Though thier education is still restrcted according to what the family can afford. Those in these schools are taught how to read and write the principles of Silas and basic math.
Those that are able bodied and unable to find work are often frowned upon and can face harsh punishment. For being physically capable of contributing to society but choosing not to.

Diets often include very mundane vegetables and bread that can be grown from the ground on farms or from small gardens near thier homes. Fish and pork often compliment the families meal but only on special occasions or when they can afford it.

Middle Class
The Middle Class of society have it slightly better of then those of the lower class in itself. Mostly made up of those that have a unuiqe skill trait or profession that warrents a higher wage. As well as those merchant families that make thier way up to this class.

Living conditions in this class are much better families living in thatch roofed houses. With a finer timber or brick foundation and walls, thier rooms are three to four and usualy sport chairs and tables. Instead of stools and straw bedding usualy having beds of stuffed hay.

They even sport a small abode in thier homes that they can take care of their bodily needs. Usualy bathing atleast once to twice a week from water drawn from a well on property.

Thier children are able to attend the church schooling but once completed or during. They can often afford to hire tutors to further augment thier education. Many of th epeople form this class can choose members from the lower class as aprentices. Thus a cycle ofalways being able to rise threw your ranks based on your merits continues.

Diets of people in this class are much more robust then those of the lower classes. This class enjoys various fruits and vegetables fish and pork on a weekly basis. Ensuring that they are much more healthy and less prone to illness.

Nobility
This is the best of the lifestyle the Nobles in this class enjoy the best of what life has to offer. As long as they can afford it though the nobility is expected to hand out bread and food to the peasent class, as well give a monthly portion of thier income. This class is mainly dominated by those of the Elven race due to thier long lives and patience, though other races of all kinds are apart of this ranking.

Living conditions of this class are the best that this land can offer paved roads that are carefully maintained. Carefully laid sewage systems with drainage that often runs into nearby water source, or just down into the lower neighborhoods.

Homes of this class often sported chimneys for warmth of the large rooms. These houses are made out of the finest brick and timber that money can buy. Sporting more and more rooms the wealthier the patron, glass windows are a sign of wealth. due to the difficult process in making this material.

Education is at its finest at the best of the schools the church of Silas has to offer. Very commonly augmented with a swath of private tutors of diffrent languages, swordplay, horsemenship, archeyr, eticate.

The diets of those of this class are the very best that life has to offer enjoying. A vast variety of grain, fruit, vegetables and meats that each family can afford to buy and supply.

Each family is expected to keep thier own houses in order and make sure that thier servants are well looked after. That they are fed and housed payed fair wages. Mistreatment of ones servants is immensly frowned upon, and can lead to consequences form the Church of Salana.

Goverment

The government of the Telarion is a very mixed form of goverment taking from Ethnocracy,Bureaucracy,Meritocracy,Plutocracy,Pedocracy, and Aristocracy. Taking from all these forms of government ideals the ruler ship of the lands and people is formed together, into a functioning system that works for the lands.

Definition of Each

Aristocracy: Rule by a hereditary class of people. Usually subsumed under a monarchy.

Bureaucracy: Rule through a system of departments or bureaus, arranged in a hierarchy of authority. Department heads and staff are usually appointed rather than elected or openly decided.
Ethnocracy: Government in which rulership is limited to those of a particular ethnicity or race.

Meritocracy: Government by those who demonstrate talent or ability in a certain position.

Plutocracy: Rulership by the rich. Although the wealthy always have power over government, plutocracy is explicit, literal rule by the wealthiest.

Pedocracy: Government by the learned or scholarly.

Telarion Government
The Telarion government has taken ideals from each of the ideals listed above and combined and meshed them into a working system. The lands are ruled by the Aristocrats only those of noble blood have true say in running of the lands and the decisions made in it.Out of these only the wealthiest and most learned ever earn a seat on the council of Tome and Chalice. This generally means that Elves take center stage having much longer lifespans then their human counterparts. Amassing the wealth and knowledge needed to be selected in their lifetimes,it is very hard for a non-elf to make the council but it does happen.

Out of this the goverment is run by established departments that handle each aspect of the lands. Each of these have a council member at the head of them running it, every request is handled threw these departments. Only the best based on merits are promoted to the highest stations proving that they are competent and able bodied enough to handle their station.

The Council of Tome and Chalice
The Council of Tome and Chalice take the name from both Silas and Salanas holy symbols both gods holding great importance to the council and the lands. The council is made up of eight seats each held by a well learned and very wealthy Aristocrat. Their is a ninth seat at the head of the table itself. The ninth seat is voted upon by the members of the council with weigh in of a priest/priestess of Salana and Silas. The person voted in on this seat holds the seat for life or until he is deemed incompetent by the council with over a fifty percent vote.

This seat is known as the seat of the chosen he rules in the capacity like a king or a queen acting to guide and balance the council with his wisdom and love. Residing in the Palace which serves the seat of the decisions and hub of the people. He or she acts as a diplomat and the face of the council often traveling to meet other noble house's in other lands.

Seats Of the Council
The seat of the Golden Coin:

This seat pays homage to the god Jax and its holder manages the coin of the lands and the balance of the books, the paying of wages of those in the service of the goverment. As well as the taxes of the people and of the nobles, and ensures they pay their monthly fees.

The seat of Shield:

The holder of this seat manages the defense's of the realm the keeps and holds and ensures that they are repair and of good keep. As well as manages the cities gaurd forces and recruitment.

The Seat of the Sword:

Philosophy

"The seeking of Knowledge Solace your soul, and the foundation of Love hold you firm"
Common Blessing

The people of the Telarion respect Silas and Salana revering them the most out of any other of the pantheon, holding their teachings above all other's their daily lives revolve around their worship and following of their teachings strictly.

Temples are common place and daily worship is expected of the pair twice a week at minimum, priests and priestess are often consulted about daily decisions in ones life. Striving to seek balance with the pair in all their dealings.

They view the zealous prosecution of those of the south with disdain and abhorrence at the blind faith followed by the inquisition in its dealings with others. The people view any of this organization with little regard and don't recognize their authority seeing it as cruel and barbaric.

If anyone is accused of heresy they would have to be kidnapped from the lands forcibly. The Telarion's preferring to examine the evidence and deal with the accused on their own in a court of unbiased summoned from both their lands and the south, rather then hand them over. Though they can ore then petition the council to hand over the accused to face justice in the south.

While they work the other gods into their society they do it threw the use of symbolize in their dealings and goverment. Using each gods respective symbol depending on the area of dealings. Such as the golden coin of Jax for commerce or use of chance.

Each god is honored in their own turn for their contribution to life and the grand cycle of living. the only gods deemed not worth following are Crusade for his aggressiveness and love of combat. Skragg for the raising of the un-dead and his command over the un living and love for death and all things associated with it. As well as Jsihrim for he represents chaos, destruction and insanity, out of all the three he is the most feared for losing ones mind and knowledge is a great fear.

The Following of Silas

In their devote following of Silas teachings they hold his first four in the most reverence and love. Always striving to gain more knowledge and push the boundaries of what is known to the world, seeking to unravel its secrets for the benefit to their people. Though getting them to part with their secrets and knowledge is very difficult, most of the larger libraries are heavily guarded and have restricted access to all but the most learned and the priests of the order.

Seeking to always preserve the knowledge of the past so that none may forget it lest its mistakes be repeated. They are always actively seeking new areas to explore and uncover so that they may document them and preserve what they find in museums for all to learn from freely.
Silas’ Doctrine:
1. You shall respect the worth of words.

2. You shall endeavor to promote and spread Knowledge, Information- Harm not records nor history.
3. You shall do not to lie nor covet, for such things may twist the pure truth of Knowledge.

4. You shall remain faithful to thy pledged word.

5. You shall be rightfully generous in the giving of information.

6. You shall respect the Divine Law.

Following of Salana

Family and closeness of community play an important role in the daily life of all the Telarion's. Respecting ones father and mother not lying to them or any others of the family is a closely guarded value. One tells their family everything so that they may flourish and live together in harmony.

Song is often heard flowing out from be it the simple village or town in sweet melodies each and every citizen regardless of skill is encouraged to sing praise to the gods in his or her own way.

Adultery is immensely frowned upon in the lands it has sever and drastic forms of punishments. One should be faithful to his lover he or she chooses for life, status in life does not play effect on marriages. If one proves enough merit and skill to the person's family and both families agree to the marriage the union is encouraged, though once married it is life bound their is no divorce in the society.

In its entire history they have not once drawn blade upon a fellow Telarion unless it is for military spar or training. This is viewed as a deep rooted aspect for if any other draws harm upon a fellow citizen the punishment befits the doctrine and they forfeit their heart in payment.

Sallana‘s Doctrine:
1. Do not to worship any other Deities, for you only need to worship I.

2. Give prayers in song, and have the music be only pleasing to the ear.

3. Keep honourable to thy Mother, and thy Children.

4. When married, if the man doeth not to keep his family happy, the wife is permitted to leave and take with the Children, and take with half of assets.

5. Do not to commit Adultery.

6. To raise weapon against your own blood is to spill your own blood, and one guilty of this transgression has forfeit their heart.

7. Pay respects to the Divine Law.

The Dead
The burying of the dead and remembrance of them play a important and grand affair for anyone. If they be peasant or noble when a family member dies there is a state of mourning held for the family. They wear dark solid colors of their choosing typically a deep black or red.

The mourning period lasts for a week that is broken up into several stages in which the family is given a break from all work with pay.The first stage lasts two days where the family goes into a state of silence and reflection as the body is prepared for funeral. After this the body is then transferred to one of the underground family tombs for burial, while doing this the family takes instruments and to song. Singing of the members life and deeds and what they meant guiding his soul to the afterlife.

After the body is interred the remainder of the week is spent in feast and joy, more songs are sung and spent knowing that their family member is in a better place. Knowing their fate lies in that of the gods and regardless of what happens that they will be reunited in this or the next.

Magic
The Telarion's view magic with an mixture of great immense interest for its secrets and yet a fear of what they do no understand. They secretly covet and desire magic with an relish talking about it behind closed doors frequently.

Though they wouldn't tend speak about it publicly, it is said they would pay a high price for any workings of magic and offer great rewards for even the capture of a live mage for study to yield their secrets. Under the proper secure conditions of course.

Life
The Telarion people have a different way to view the world then the rest of Altera while they still respect the gods and worship them. They hold a personal view onto the world that there is a great pattern about the world that the gods themselves weave. Each person has their own strand that is woven into a great pattern of life, with each and every interaction we impart and entwine a little bit of each thread onto one another.

Each small action made in life weather it be killing of a animal to eat, talking to someone or buying a new necklace or plow. Each action rebounds threw out the world itself and is woven into the pattern of life itself, the current patterns that have passed and been woven are the following.

The Pattern of Darkness

This pattern refers to the age of Queen Grief when she threatens the world and constant battles were held Against her. This goes threw the leaving of the old world for this one up till the final battle against queen grief herself. Including the great upheaval of the Crown wars that tore the realm asunder with divisions.

The Pattern of Gold

This period was during the leader ship under Queen leminth after queen grief was defeated. Speaking to the golden age that was brought and the stability. All the way up till her reign ended and brought about the Pattern of Chaos.

The Pattern of Chaos.

This pattern is the time of after the crown and the destruction of port silver and the council. With so many kings empires and kingdoms popping up around the realm, causing great strife and chaos in the lands. This pattern has given way to the Pattern of the gods.

Marriage
Marriage holds a very significant part of the liviley hood of the people be they peasant or noble. Celebrated with as much ceremony and as lavishness both families can afford together not an expense is spared.

The ceremony involves a priestess of Salana for the ceremony as well as it's own special touch for the wedding. They are often held out doors in gardens or in large chapels these are then bound together in a small rendition of the following.

The couple often speak their own vows when this is done their hands are bound together with ribbons. The priest and or priestess bounds the hands with 13 different ribbons each having their own explanation.

1.Red signifies our passion and strength.
2.Orange is our bounty and mutual support
3. Blue is our patience devotion and peace
4. Purple is our power, but also our humility and responsibility.
5.Grey is our balance and solidity and unity.
6. Black is our wisdom and vision for the future.
7. Brown is our grounding in nature and home.
8.Pink is our honor and romance
9.Yellow is joy and harmony
10.Green is our service and prosperity.
11. White is our focus and purity of thought.
12.Silver is our values and inspiration
13. Gold is our energy, intelligence and life force.

All thirteen ribbons are laid across the hands lovingly and carefully then when the last one is laid upon them. They are all tied together and bound together till the end of the wedding only at the end when the wedding night is to happen are the ribbons broken.

The couple also drink from a chalice of wine representing Sallana and commitment of the two, each holds the cup for the other to drink out of.

Fashion

The fashion of the Telarion culture fashion was a direct reflection of how wealthy a person was,it was used to reflect just how much one could purchase in reflection to their power itself.

Wealthy-

Wealthy people can afford fine silks, linen and wool's that the normal person could not afford to wear. Each outfit was often bedecked in fine jewels and embroided with gold thread. Ruffs were often worn it symbolized the power and wealth of the person wearing them.

Noble Woman.

Wealthy Rich woman wore padded skirts held up with loops, over this was worn the a corset and then colorful floor length gowns. Ornate headdress with jewels and gold were worn as an added symbol of the persons wealth. If properly worn and a ladies figure should give a triangular shape. They often keep their hair from mid shoulder to mid back in length wearing them up in elaborate designs.

Noble Men: They wore typically white or vibrant color silk shirts, over these shirts they wore doublets which are like tight fitting jackets.that are frilled at the neck and wrists. They then wear pants that are often stripped and frilled that are called hose. They wear their hair close cropped to their scalps. Clean shaven to nicely trimmed goatees are commonplace in the fashion, often wearing black leather riding boots that come up past their knees.

Military

Military Introduction
The Telarion military is broken down into three separate sections of management that runs separate until the need arise's for them to coordinate together. While each seat is an expert and shown that they can more then handle the military branch they are put in charge. They are heavily encouraged to always expand their learning and knowledge to have at least the very basic understanding of how the other branches work.

Defense and Town Guards.

The Seat of the Shield over seas the management of all defenses of the realm be it castle's, walls, port defenses or the towns guard. This allows the rest of the council to deal with their other duties without having to worry.

Defense's:

The defenses of the realm are built with care and devotion a priest of Silas is present during every construction, offering his knowledge to the architects and to double check any plans that are laid forth.

Castles and strong holds are built in stone brick, with a large entrance gate that is flanked by two square defensive towers. The gates are made out of wood reinforced with Iron banding and studs to help strengthen them. A inner courtyard is present with stables located to one side, blacksmith to maintain the troops daily armor and repair needs, and a store house for water and grain.

Around this lies a moat that runs around the entity of the castle itself the sides are shored up with brick to protect against erosion and to help protect against efforts of tunneling. The moats are a standard minimum of ten feet deep by thirty feet wide to ensure that no man can easily walk across the bottoms. A single wooden bridge connects the castle or fortification to the land around it, kept in good repair but two large ceramic jars of tar are kept near it. For the even of a siege the tar can be broken and the bridge burned.

Around this moat is a space of fifty feet and the outer wall, no buildings are allowed in this radius, to offer substantial lines of open area for archers to fire upon without obstruction. A outer wall is at this point built to the specifications as the castles own walls with a similar moat and bridge system.

This is all built around a central keep that over looks everything and where the local commander or lord resides with his family. As well as a barracks, kitchen, privy, dining and meeting halls. are located here the stairwells here only offer room for one man at a time to come up them.

Port Defenses:

Port cities commonly have the main castle and citadel at the heart of them, and smaller defensive castles located at the port itself. Usually a main castle defensive structure right at the heart of the entrance to the port itself. With two more located on either side of it it offering a triangular defensive look. Walls are constructed between the defensive forts with towers dotting every twenty feet. Man built land is shored up on either side of the port where two large defensive towers are built. These pair of towers offer a dual purpose of defense and also act as light house's to guide ships in bad weather. A sea chain links the two towers to be raised up to block ships from entering in the case of siege.

City Guards

The city guards in all city or towns wear a unified uniform wearing a purple cotton coat with green pants. The sigil of the god Rahas is sown onto their right arms, they live by the motto "For the People". They take oaths against corruption and misdeed living to help out the common people and make sure the laws are enforced.

They commonly wear a steel chest piece over their coat, and carry a short sword at their hip and a Halberd with a common poultice kit on their belt. They tend to travel on patrol around the city in groups of four. Two of the men are outfitted with longbows and arrows while the other two carry the common gear.

Each city guard is run by a commander who reports directly to the Seat of the Shield and makes sure that his guard keeps the peace. In the event of disaster or rioting he can request other guardsmen for the other cities from the council, and military support if needed.

The seat of the Crimson Wave: This seat upon the council manages the Armed Naval ships and and personnel. He over seas the order of new construction of ships, their building supply and maintenance. As well he coordinates with the Seat of the Golden Coin to produce and build the trade fleet, and to ensure the routes he selects are properly secured.

Ship's

The ships of the Telarion navy is navy is split into two separate style of ships the Galleon and Schooner. The galleons form the fist of the naval power dueling rival ships for their immense power in combat when met. The Schooner's act as scout ships and raiders being the eyes and ears of the galleons.

Galleons:

The ships built under this class are generally three decks tall with a forecastle, with elaborate decoration and enameling in the wood for decoration. each deck tends to have ten guns each resulting in thirty per side to sixty over all, with four swivel cannons, two fore and two aft.

Schooner:

Acting as the eyes an ears of the fleet being able to go into shallower bodies of water. The design of these ships are rather basic made to be shallow and fast. They tend to carry a compliment of six guns on each side of the ship and two swivels to the aft. Offering landing troops closer support fire and ability to get closer to shore before having to row, servin as well as the main merchant vessels of the Telarions.

Sailors/tactics

Sailors of the navy wear white cotton short sleeves, with regular breeches cloaks are provided for use during heavy storm weather. Heavily disciplined and drilled relentlessly to perfection these sailors work like well oiled machine. When out at sea ships tend to run with four galleons and two schooners as support. Communicating via ship signals during the day and lanterns by night.

When engaging a enemy fleet they schooner's keep distance and secure the flanks of the fleet to prevent the enemy ships from slipping behind their slower moving brethren. The galleons form up in a line to preform rolling broadsides to pummel the enemies into submission.

The seat of Sword overseas the Land Military making sure that all the militias are properly trained and prepared. That the active military force is ready for service well equipped and payed for. Making sure the troops participate in yearly battle drilling and mock sieges so that troops get practice in their craft.

Heavy Calvary:

The Taleron heavy Calvary is one of immense pride to the Taleron people horses and knights wear the finest and most ornate plate that can be made yet still retain function. Carrying lances for their charges, and short sword for close range engagements. Often nobility fulfill these roles, being the only ones able to afford the costly armor.

Foot Soldier:

The common foot soldier wears a unifying uniform of green and red cotton cloth. A simple steel chest plate and helm. The soldiers are broken down into four groups pike men, swordsmen, long bowmen, and crossbowmen and then artillery. Each support eachother on the battlefield working by alternating depending on what they are up against.

The normal draw of the battle line flows like the following, Long Bow men stand in the front ranks having laid down caltrops, and stakes into the ground to help break up calvary charges. Behind them stand cross bowmen these units do not fire their bolts, saving them to volley in mass to help break up any potential charge.

Finally located right behind them are the pike men standing ready to step forward as the the archers and crossbow's retreat behind these lines. Located behind them are swordsmen with shields ready to engage any infantry in close quarters combat.

Located behind all these lines sit the cannons firing from afar to soften up enemy armies before the primary engagment. Prefering to hold stationary ground and pound their enemies into submission. The heavy calvary sits on the flanks of the army itself to protect it from any form of calvary attacks or to flank the enemy army when it proves advantagious.

Pikemen: The pike men carry ten foot long pikes tipped with iron tip that had serrated or what is called cheeks upon it. They carried a steel chest plate and concave helm as well as a dagger on their waist.

Swordsmen: Swordsemn carry the same armor compliment as the pikemen the change in their outfit is. The carrying of short swords and steel unlike their pikemen brethren these soldiers do not fight as a unit but singular once the battle is joined, wearing daggers on thier hips as well.

Longbowmen: The Longbowmen use a english style longbow the length of these bows varry upon the man themselves. As the bows tend to be as tall as the man wielding it, as well they carry atleast at a minimium fourteen arrows. Allowing a commander atleast fourteen vollies, though their men may carry more if they wish or commanders may add to the count. They also carry two wooden stakes three feet in length and a pouch of caltrops.

Their armor is relativly simple as they wear leather bracers to protect thier wrists from the bows string. They wear leather aprons over a lightl chainmail armor and cotton shirts and breeches. They wear steel capped helmets, and have daggers on their hips.

Crossbowmen: Crossbowmen wear the same uniform as their longbow breathren, the only change to this is of course the crossbow itself and the reloader.

Battle field set up:

The set up upon the field of battle is prefered to open plains where they can make effective use of combing their artiller and archers to hold an enemy in place. While their heavy calvary close in upon the flanks to smash the enemy over and over like a smith striking a forge. Extremly patient and not over brash they will wait for moments to strike.

Archers set up their stakes poundings their stakes into triangular lines that alternate to creat wedges, making sure to pound the stake in firmly atleast a foot. A gap of two feet follow behind the stakes before laying down their caltrops six feet deep evenly spread. This allows a gap so that any horses falling over steaks do not waist any of the caltrops, any horses makign it over or threw will still have to maunever the clatrops themselves.

The Longbow men then set up four feet from behind the caltrops themselves creating a gap from the archer line to the stakes of twelve feet, that the enemy has to negotiate to make it to them. Archers put their arrows head first into the ground beside thier feet for easy reach standing in a even line.

Standing behind the longbowmen by a distnace of one foot is the Crossbow men loaded and ready. These men and woman wait patiently for the enemy to commit themselves, once the enemy has breached the stake line the archers step back as the crossbowmen kneel and take aim. Once the enemy is half way threw the caltrops they open fire in mass unison to help break up the charge.

Behind the crossbowmen stand the pikemen who stand two men breath apart in distance, creating shallow lines that the longbowmen and crossbowmen can retreat into. As they retreat the mand from the closest edge to the gap, and the third step forward to close it. The first row of pikemen drop their spears strairt out front, as the second rank then drop their pikes up at a angel between the right shoulder of the man ifnront of the and the left should of the man on their right, creating a porcipine effect.

At this point the swords men hang back and wait for any gaps that might fill into the pikemens formation and fill in the breaches, to fight them off supported by the crossbowmen and archers firing into anyone they can find as targets that open up.

Behind all of this stands the artillery peices of cannon, they stand in groups of four seperated by ten feet alternating from the left flank cannons, moving five feet forward and back.To ensure that the peices are offset as well and not set as a striaght line making it more difficult for enemy artillery to take all cannosn out having constantly adjust range to do so. Theses pieces fire from left to right following thier naval counterparts creating something akin to a rolling broadside.

When close combat is engaged the cannons continue to fire on the rear of the enemy to help stem the flow of reinfrocements to the front bringing their fire inwards as the heavy calvary, hems in the sides of the enemy to creat a goblet effect.

Noble House Conduct.

Noble houses of the Talerion culture are quiet varied and different to each founding family that arise's. As varied from mercantile, Political, Military and well respected houses of learning, all these houses so different yet so alike in many ways.

A typical house is ran jointly by man and wife who work together to constantly better their house and their status in life. Family is the biggest import inside a noble house protecting ones family members from harm, and not keeping secrets from them is a big part of life.

While no secrets are kept often inside of a house their are levels of knowledge inside the house. The heads of household know all the comings and goings within the household itself,as well as any secrets that need to be kept safe. As a member of the family grows older and show merit and the ability to handle knowledge they are, enlightened with knowledge. Where as a family member who tends to gossip or have a tendency not to be bale to hold a secret is often not entrusted.

Courting
Courting within a noble house and relationships inside a noble house while a difference between noble blood and common blood is oft overlooked. It comes with a very strict set of rules and guidelines that must be followed to the letter, if a single thing is breached a family can find grounds to call off a courting or in the future find a breach in a marriage.

1. A family must meet the person who is courting their son/daughter and their family so that all may get to know each other.

2. No contact of a romantic nature may happen between the pair courting, separate rooms and areas to stay in must be provided when a courtier is visiting.Kissing and holdings hands or hugging is more then fine.

3.Private encounters that are pre arranged are encouraged to help the pair to get to know each other, while encouraged the pair are entrusted not to break the courting rules.

4.Lasts about one year at least for the couple to get to know each other, and the families to be comfortable with everything. Oft can be shorter time lengths it is rare.

After a period of courting or even about halfway threw when the courtier feels comfortable he or she will approach the opposing family. Open up the discussion for engagement this includes a dowry, which vary depending on the status of the family being courted. Though being practical dowries do not have to be paid in one lump sum but over a period of time.

Pastimes

Many pastimes occupy the Telarion's way of life the most popular of these are riding, sword play, and archery, as well as chess.

Riding is one of the most favored pastimes of the people the wide open plans and expanses leave much space to go riding upon. Long rides into the country side, or competitive riding in fast paced races are very common leisure activities.

Archery is another pastime that the people enjoy often from horse back using specialized horse bows. Tests of skill of shooting placed targets along a riding course is fairly common show of skill.

Swordplay is a very common place and a often practiced art many disputes in nobility are often settled with sparring matches set to points. The ability one has with sword and type of sword short sword being most prominent is a symbol of status with skill.

Politics
Politics are often very difficult and full of intrigue to the often untrained or unskilled in knowledge, they can be a web hard to navigate. Often politics is refered to as the web many may say one thing and mean another, double meaning in words are all to common of a thing.

Political maneuvering is difficult and must be well thought out, rushed things often meet disaster from rivals. The political scene is full of lower class as well as higher class seeking to improve themselves and their station.

The highest stations ought is the council and their seats, every family strives for these seats or to prevent others from reaching them. In rare cases families will seperate themselves from politics and obtain wealth and power without a second thought.

Daily Life
The daily life of nobles are expected to carry themselves befitting their station, to control their anger and emotions outwardly. They are expected to be just and fair in all their dealings and set an example to the lower ranks.

Nobles are expected to give out money and food to the lower suffering classes and make sure they are taken care of atleast once a year more if they are able.

House Protection

Each house and rich family is entitled their own house or family guard these personal guard vary immensely, depending on the house ranging from archers and swordsmen to Calvary guards.

The size of ones guard also varies immensely they can be very few from one to six personnel to larger small sized armies. That each contributes tot he defense of the lands as a whole, in the political game these can be very important. While no Telarion would shed the blood of the other highly skilled duelists and champions of each discipline of the combined arms is much sought after. As duels to first strike are a common practice, horsemanship or archery contests to settle feuds or grudges are held.

This is all brilliant but there are barely enough players to support the kingdoms we have now, are you sure you want to start this now?
