The Heavenstones

The following report is a compilation of confirmed knowledge and many of the current theories in regards to the Heavenstones. This report is based upon my own tests, myself being Duchess Elizabeth Kane of Queensport, as well as the gathered information by those who have come to me with their own findings.

These heavenstones are identified as brilliant crystalline structures that fall from the night sky, and are housed in a stone and metallic like outer casing. Their rocky exterior seem to have no properties beyond mundane applications. The stones themselves glow brilliantly.

Any scholars and researchers willing to work together are welcome to visit the shores of Queensport for discourse.

Arcane Nullification

This facet of the stones has been documented and disseminated to the public already, but it is worth repeated discourse that the heavenstones have an active and a passive nullification of arcane and divine energies. Spells cast directly upon the stones are negated, and it seems to weaken its structure. The glow lessens each time a spell is cast directly upon it, bearing the implication that it is using its inherent energy to fend off these magical advances.

In addition as previously mentioned, the stones negate passive effects based on a rule of proximity. With only one stone present, various abilities wane and become inefficient at various distances, depending on the effect. Even enchantments lose their ability upon nearing the stones, but return to normal functionality upon leaving its radius.

When more than one stone is present in a confined area, the negation becomes stronger. It has been noted as negating even the boons given to the Mortals by the Pantheon themselves.

Power Sources & Effects

As noted above, these heavenstones seem to bear an inherent energy as indicated by the glow. The glow lessens the more it must fend off magical interference, until it becomes null and depleted. At the latest impact site, west of Storm’s Landing, the reports state that the large gathering of stones produced a manner of curious effects such as the transformation of native flora and fauna.

Current studies, to my knowledge, have not been able to replicate this mutation and seems such is only possible with a concentrated gathering of the stones. One stone alone has no bearing on the properties of the flora around it. But amid several stones? It is not recommended that these stones are gathered and kept in the same area to avoid the effect strengthening and altering nearby surroundings.

Current theories suggest that these stones are full of the raw, innate power that mages use to cast. The essence of magic itself, which does, it seem, correlate in some way to the manner in which the Blessed interact with their own abilities. Such theory is supported by the way in which Elementals interact with them, which is extrapolated and expanded below.

Elementals

Elementals are creatures of predominantly of anima that dwell largely in the Planar Infinity, but have the capability to manifest within the Material Plane by manner of manipulating their correlating affinity. These beings are neither good, nor evil for the most part, although there are certain notable exceptions of extreme cases. Their nature is to grow and to consume more sources of power. They are, at their very base, entities fueled by a greed for more power.

It has been discovered that more and more elementals have begun manifesting in the Material in order to consume the energy contained within these heavenstones. Because the elementals are feeding upon this source of power, it can be extrapolated that the stones have an energy that is similar in nature to the power arcane users, as mentioned above. Within my own arcane school of study, elementals feed on the innate power we offer in exchange for services, yet these stones seem to be an unfiltered and pactless source for them to grow from.

After they feed upon the stones, the crystal is left depleted and the elemental goes on its way. For the larger and more mature elementals, it is ill-advised to try and interfere with its feeding process. Older and larger elementals, such as the one at the recent impact site, will not seek to harm the mortals actively. It will, however, fend off any that try to interfere, or get too close, with its feast. So long as the elders are left to their own devices, there will be of no harm to anyone in the area.

However, it is the smaller and more juvenile elementals that pose the true threat and danger. Young as they are, they are desperate to grow in power and size. Whereas the stones are small sources of power to the ancients and the elders, consumption of the stones is a large opportunity for the younglings.

If one encounters a small elemental, do not allow it to feed from any stones you may have in your possession. Should they feed from the raw power stored in the crystals, they will grow in size and power. The ancients and elders will leave mortals alone if they are in turn left alone, but the juveniles may become desperate for more sources of power in which to rapidly grow. While small elementals can be easily contained, and may appear harmless, it is not the case should they be allowed to get a taste of the raw powers within the stones. They could become hostile, and even attempt to feed on the power held by mages of any school.

It is yet unknown if the heavenstones can or will alter the elementals in ways similar to the flora and fauna of the material. If there are any abnormalities or aberrant behavior noted, please send word to Queensport immediately.

Yes, a lot of this is already known. And Gerry did write a lot of this already, but ah... Hard to read. ( Jeroxia ) But this one has the added information after a choice meeting with Evelyn regarding the elementals

I don't know what you're on about. Gerry's writing is perfectly legible.

Do expect him soon. There are one or two addendums that appear to be missing here. Nothing major, but perhaps worthwhile.
