Ironically, whilst people were in the zombie event of Storms Landing today, I was playing Project Zomboid.

Well your floor could use some TLC... Just saying... PS: You are likely going to die... Bites have a 95% chance of an infection.
You can usually see it when your character suddenly starts getting anxious after a while. Don't ditch your character though, they can get anxious for other reasons too. ;)
I do not know how to fix the floor. You can build floors: but the type is not the same colour as mine.
Furthermore: my character lived! Very lucky indeed.

I spent the first few hours culling a horde that wandered over to my base. This image sums that up quite nicely.

I also picked up a nice pool table for my home. I know I said "no more apartment updates" in my last post, but... I lied.

The pool table was not the only thing I found! I went down to the south West Point storage lots! Lots of paint there. I also found a few generators! For now, I put it in storage with a few jerry cans. Once the power goes out, I will need to use the generator to keep the lights/fridge on. I will build something on the roof for it later.

I've also found a pretty cool gun that I will keep on my person for a dead zombie survivor. I have enough ammo from the gun store in case of emergency too.

For some reason, Bacon and Lettace causes unhappiness in Lana. This deeply upsets me.

Anyway! I got to work on the roof! I built a staircase up to the rooftop, started cutting some wood to make it look better. Unfortunately, I am going to need a lot more wood than I would have liked. This game's main enemy is not the zombies, seemingly, but boredom. Having a project to work on keeps me busy and alive in the comfort of my own home~

Well. Until the need more wood, anyway.

I've never seen a zombie in your pictures. This 'zombie disease' is a hoax made up by the government to control us and keep us inside our houses!!!

Lana is dead.

After the power went out, I quickly realized that the generator was not going to work out for me. It was loud, attracting more zombies to my base. She could live in darkness, certainly... but the food in the fridge was now rotting. With plenty of canned food, I would last for quite some time-- but eventually, all the cans would run out. Thus, a journey needed to be made northward to a vegetable store near the school at the northmost part of West Point, in hopes of finding more seeds to plant. Surprisingly, I had very little.
As usual, we took the police car.

In the past, hordes have roamed closer and closer to my area. I dealt with them, the best ways I could. But many hordes of zombies, unknown to me until too late, were between the stores and where I wanted to go. I tried to clear most of them. My bat would eventually break. My car would begin to break. My spare weapons eventually broke too. On the way back home, my vehicle stopped working- so close to home, the zombies surrounded, I knew they were going to follow me back to my base. My last resort was the pistol~
But so panicked, Lana could not aim.

Here are the last images of my base before I start a new game =)
I tried to paint the walls, but ran out of red paint.

New Start:
Many new mods installed!

Meet Annie West, a fisherwoman from Riverside.

Annie had a bit of a rough start. As a fisherwoman, she would be well prepared for the zombie apocolypse if she was able to get a boat and a fishing rod. But she had neither. Thankfully, the first vehicle she came across had a key in the glove box. With it, she quickly drove to the outskirts of Riverside to the police station to report these damned zombies. Unfortunately, everyone there was undead.

A few days were spent driving around with no real direction, living in questionable locations.

Annie was even running out of storage space in the car for all the loot we were finding-- until we discovered this beauty.

In one of the houses Annie looted, there was a map stating there was a 'weather station' just outside of town. Generally driving in that location, she came across El Dorado.

With no zombies in sight, this unique location will be perfect-- at the very least until Annie can find a boat. Zombies cannot swim, right?
With so much storage, resources and safety in solitude until the zombies begin to migrate, this location is perfect. It does lack a sink for unlimited water, however... and lacking a bed. Not things we cannot find from the nearby furniture store in Riverside, however.
This location will be perfect-- it just requires a lot of time to move things around.

Not that I know of no...not yet... But they can burn... And you what's worse than a Zombie? A FREAKING FLAMING ZOMBIE!
Sorry, I know, it's not what you've asked, but I always wanted to say that ;).

Annie West has absolutely no idea what tea is, apparently.

After a successful resource run into town to find the furniture store, it was sadly locked and stopped me from entry. Zombies had no yet broken into that building. It is only a matter of time, however. I spent the next few in-game days staying at my new home, moving things around (seriously, they had too many office chairs). If this is going to be my home, I need to make it look good. A lot of cleaning up commenced.

Exploring the nearby area, I found an abandoned caravan and two garages-- both locked. I will break into them later. Thankfully, I am very close to the river (Riverside, after all), so I am able to fish (if I find a fishing rod) and place a boat easily should I find one.
I did find a bed, but sadly, I could not take it. I needed Carpentry level 2. I will come back for it.

I spent most of the time reading skill books and cutting trees, getting ready to barricade my new home to safety. Just in case!

My home was coming along, although the furniture was all in the correct fitting, I was running out of resources and food.

A long trip back into Riverwood that took me three days filled up a new vehicle I found with food, nails and other bits and bobs I found out there. The car kind of looks like Marge Simpson's car.

If you want a rough idea of how much I took, the Megamart was completely looted. It was zombies galore, but the undead are nothing more than a careful obstacle for Annie West's nailed bat.

Returning home, I had the resources to board up every window and generally make the base look kind of nice-- though its a long way from done. I may build a fence around the entire compound, just to be safe.

The main building is where I moved all my resources to, the warehouse now being a large garage and overflow storage if the main house becomes too full. Here is what it looks like currently after my long trip into town:

After all the zombie killing, Annie took some time off in her new, somewhat safe home. Plenty of skill books and VHS videos were found, so much alcohol was consumed during her day off.

Riverwood is becoming barren. With each scavenge trip I make to the town, the less I seem to find. No generators, barely any food and plenty of zombies-- especially around the houses. Annie has now defeated an entire birthday party, football group and survivor group of zombies... not including the generic hordes I found around. Doing one final sweep of the town, I came across the final reward-- a final prize Riverwood could gift me.

A boat.

Hooking up the trailer to my van, Annie quickly took it to the gas station to fill with fuel before taking it back home.

Unfortunately, the forest around the weather station is simply too dense to reach the river through. I had to drive the boat all the way back to the town, put it in water, drive the van back home and then walk back into Riverwood to get the boat.

It was very much worth it.

The boat sails slowly down the river. With this, I will be able to reach Kingston Island.
The boat has a bed, oven, fridge, humble storage space and access to fishing (with a fishing rod aboard). Sadly, with such limited storage, even if I made it to Kingston Island, I would be hard pressed to bring anything of worth back. Regardless, Annie believes Kingston may be safe from the virus and zombies: thus that is where she will sail soon. Further problems: the boat is stupidly slow, the gas tank is small and there is no dock near my home.

Annie is thinking about building a dock.

It is time for Wake's monopoly on this thread to end.
Build 41. New Game. West Point KY. Survivor Game Mode.

Character: Woody Carver
Profession: Carpenter

Traits:
Sunday Driver - Means Woody can only drive at the Speed Limit. Gives an extra trait point.
Fast Reader - Takes less time to read books. Costs two trait points.

Day One -
First things first. I turn off all of the electrical devices that I can. I try to cover up all of my windows with curtains or sheets. I explore my house for goods. As I find an electric bass to use as a weapon, I hear banging at the door. I open the bedroom door only for a zombie to strike immediately. I am hurt. Its likely already a writeoff, I probably won't survive long. I apply a bandage anyway, knowing it will not stave off the wound for long. I'll keep an eye on things, but I need to find a new house already- this one is compromised.

Leaving was a mistake. I headed North and found the town high street. I was swarmed immediately. It's over. I'm food.

=====

That was fun. Time to try again.

Day One -
Well, it seems I've woken up in some other dude's house. There's a dead zombie in the living room and a broken window. I grabbed a watch and set out to try and find some supplies. It took mere moments for a horde to appear at my heels. I have been running for ages. I can't stop, they'll find me- but I'm exhausted already, I'm not used to running this much.
I've found an unlocked car- but the keys are nowhere to be found. I can't leave. They're outside.
I think this is it.

=====

Ok. I hope I spawn in another house, this time. This was less fun.

I've tweaked some settings to make this game less masochistic.

Custom Sandbox - West Point, KY.

Character: Barry King

Sunday Driver - Means Woody can only drive at the Speed Limit.
Hearty Appetite - Needs to eat food more regularly.
Short Sighted - Smaller view distance.

Dextrous - Transfers Items quickly.
Fast Reader - Takes less time to read books.
Nutritionist - Can see the nutritional value of foods.

Cook - Can Cook.
Brief Backstory -
Recently graduated High-School and studying to be a Chef in college. They've come back home in the midst of a family tragedy. It is here that Barry finds himself when the outbreak occurs.

Day One -
First things first, cover up the windows, turn out the lights. I need to make the apartment secure before I can take stock of what I actually have. I'll be the first to admit this isn't what I expected when I came home for a funeral. I start to secure the others, I don't see anyone, but they'll thank me later. As I'm checking the rooms, I find a gun. Its from that brute across the hall. He'll kill me if he knows I've taken it, but I don't much care right now. I've covered most of the windows of the hotel rooms, but the lobby and the restraunt are going to be another beast altogether. I don't much think I'll be able to block those windows with some sheets, but I'll give it a go.
Alright, the whole building is curtained up- including those bigger windows -and I've managed to look at my supply situation. Its pretty bleak. That said, I think there is a car outside. I don't know what state it is in, but its worth checking out. Car works. Its too late to go out for a drive, I'll sleep and head out in the morning.

Day Two -
Woke up starving. I don't know if its today or yesterday, really. I can't keep laying here with my stomach roaring like this. I have to do something. I think there is a food market across the street. Oh god. I saw them. I didn't make it to the store, there were too many of them- so I ran back to the car to see what I can do. Alright, in the history of bad ideas, this has got to go down as one of the worst. I thought to drive off and lure them all away- but what I didn't think about is how I'd get back. I'm now stuck doing loops of the town square.
It hits me. There is a house at the edge of town- by the river. It's rented out to folks who come here on holiday and want to spend time fishing. I'll go there, its far away enough that I should have enough distance between me and the horde and I'll be able to find my bearings there at least.
I set up the usual- the curtain sheets and the lights are off. Now its just a case of worrying about food, again. I'll have to go back into town tomorrow, I bet. What's that noise? Oh god, they've gotten in, again. I can't get out. I'll have to shoot them.

=====

Poor guy died on the outskirts of town, gnawed on entirely.

This is a lot of fun to read, I am glad somebody else on Hollowworld is trying this game-- especially you Brit =)

West Point is the most densely populated location on all the map, I believe. It is absolutely annoyingly insane how many zombies there are, usually about 6-7 per house in my experience. That is not including the shops. As a recent redditor posted on the r/projectzomobid, "you do not know stress until you clear out the West Point megamart."

Making the zombies shamblers is a really good idea! =) Just remember that zombies are attracted to literally everything you do. You killed a zombie? They can sense the corpse. Turned on a light? They can see it too, always close the blinds of a house first. Cooking with a microwave? God forbid!
I streamed myself playing Project Zomboid a few weeks ago and my friends were laughing their asses off because Lana was just sneaking everywhere. Rarely did I press 'c' to unsneak!

Never. Ever. Use a gun. Unless you are extremely confident and far away from your base with an escape route...
I just collect guns and keep one on me just in case I accidently run into a horde with no way out.

Been a while since I have posted here, despite the fact I have been playing on and off. In truth, I did not think I would survive long in a new game.

I was wrong.

Near a month in now, the electric will soon come off- so I am in need of a base. For a while, I was living in a caravan!
Lana 2.0 is currently building herself a home. It is a long and tiring process.

In terms of items, I have collected plenty. I am very confident in this run. Though there is a lot more walls to build before I am fully content..

I've been almost addicted to "They Are Billions". I've played it 25 hours and lost 11 games before finally on the 12th game I succeeded on 42% score factor. It's a really good take on RTS with zombies. one tiny mistake and they take over your entire base. You've got to plug all the holes or you'll be doomed for sure. It also has a campaign that looks a bit like Project Zomboid, in the way that you control a single character from bird's eye perspective.
1625385664778.png

I've also bought a new 'boardgame' yesterday called "Smash Up" where there are 8 different factions, one of which are the zombies. In this game you choose 2 factions, shuffle the decks, and that becomes your army. It's SUPER fun! The art is amazingly beautiful. It's one of my favorite games already. The zombies rise from the dead constantly by being able to draw from the discard pile. So since you combine zombies with another army, you can also draw those of the other faction back into your hand or play them straight into the game. I did Zombie-Dinosaur yesterday, gonna try Zombie-Alien today :)

Good to see you still posting every now and then on this thread. I decided not to buy the game myself because I believe I wouldn't enjoy playing it myself as much as I enjoy watching you struggle haha

It tests my patience quite a bit.

Today I spent much of my playtime cutting trees. That sounds easy on paper-- yet to avoid exhaustion, you can only really cut one tree at a time-- not to mention to carry all that wood back to base BEFORE turning them into planks AND THEN building the wall.

A while of that and I really wanted to kill some zombies. So-- I grabbed the good guns I had collected, though only brought ammo for the shotgun. Big iron on my hip!

Before I headed out, I documented my character and base for progressions sakes.

My intention was to head into town to clear the zombie hordes in order to get some of that sweet, sweet loot. Unfortunately, I ran into a small horde on the way. It was a good thing, however. By the time I had killed just over 50 zombies outside of a McDonalds, I was almost out of ammo...
And that is where I stopped playing today because I wanted to RP =)

Gun next to the fridge - Check
Ammunition on the floor - Check

Typical NRA office detected :D
I honestly just began dropping things on the floor because I realised things do not get damaged, do not despawn and the floor is more infinite than anything else. The fridge I stole from a nearby house (I call the "dumping house" because its where I dump all my useless items like tin cans) to store like.. three pieces of meat I found.

Progress is slow and steady in Zomboid. Not for a lack of trying, mind you. It is slow because the weather makes it look like Silent Hill. Try NOT being afraid of zombies when you cannot see the amublance in your own safe zone.

After clearing out all those zombies around the petrol/gas station not far from my home, I decided to spent most of today building more walls around my base and clearing out the nearby houses. One said house contained a Corna Virus supply of toilet paper. If toilet paper becomes the currency in this game, I have struck gold.

When the weather clears up, it is back out there killing zombies. I can deforest all I want with a seemingly unlimited supply of wood--

--But I am running out of nails.

So its back to killing zombies next time.
