General Information and Location:
Ardent is possibly one of the younger settlements in the Eastern Kingdoms, being very recently founded northwest of Storms Landing. It is located in the midlands of the continent, at the mouth of the middle-rivers where it opens into the northern and southern holdings on each from the swamps to the mountainous plains.

The roads begins at Ardent, then runs northeast past the fork before finally reaching Storms Landing on the eastern coast. The road also forks off from the path to the Obelisk at the reefs, going northwest so travelers might see from the nestled valleys that make up the natural protection of the Valley of the Lords.

Ardent is the seat of the lesser house of Lothryne, who holds no fealty to any current house or hegemony throughout the Eastern Kingdoms. The settlement is also notable as the site of the star-driven entities, as well as the home of an order of alchemists that as of current has no public renown.

General Rules:
Be respectful of other town members and the player base in general.
No stealing or griefing. (IC is something else altogether, to be handled on case by case basis.
Don’t build or modify builds without permission. An exception is within your own home. Just inform people if you're trying to build a nuke under the city.

LAWS AND CULTURE
LEADERSHIP

Culture of the Valley
Those inhabiting the valley of Ardent are a generally kind but reactionary people, focusing on the balance between nature and themselves. Their beliefs have been passed on since the beginnings they had in their original island territories, having never truly changed since their founding. While the people are referred to as vagrants, bandits or farmers, upon asking them, they would say they are simply people of the land. To be its people is certainly a way of life, coming as natural as breathing, as the cycle of nature itself; and all of it's facets. Their origination from the Sorrows in their once tribal society lends to general survivability, but not to any great degree.

The people of Ardent are believed to be pacifists, but that belief is one to be untrue. While they do not accept duels nor fight without reason, the peoples do fight when in self defense, defense of family or lands, or if absolutely necessary. In the situations in which they do raise up arms, they are bound to using blunt weapons, the most common of which being a staff. The followers believe killing is not the absolute way, finding themselves taken over by extreme guilt if their opponent is killed at their hands if unjustified. This same can not be said for the case of war, believing it to be natural order and as such, fervor and great mirth is had at the blood of the enemies of the State.

The settlers here are easily recognized through their appearance of relative wealth, and the book or occasional bottle of liquor usually kept on their packs. The clothes and armnaments and weapons are both usually unique to each follower, either in color, design, and/or material. The combination is not something required by the followers, but is a tradition; wherein the keeping of ones tools and self is an utmost sort of thing. The nature of these people shifts as science and the concept of metaphysics are introduced to the general population..

Laws Of The Land
The State of Ardent and all who are within it are bound by the legislation within this Codex. The purpose of this Codex is to act as a general reference for legislation that was put forward by the Enlightened Flame or by The High Council of Ardent. legislation may exist outside of this Codex and this Codex must exist under the Writ of Governance as the Writ is the supreme law of the land. All further legislation has thus been hereby approved and enacted by the reigning lord or lady at the time. This was written in short in order to allow for a fair and just state.

Henceforth, what shall be declared as 'Tier One Crimes' will be the following:
- Public disturbance
- Vandalism
- Vigilantism
- Slandering the nobility/guard
- Impersonation
- Fistfights
- Physical assault or uncalled-for brawling.

In addition to such, clarification upon 'Tier Two Crimes' are what follows:
- Illegal weapon possession; as to what weapons are illegal are to be left up to the current ruling state official(s).
- Illegal armor possession; the same rules from the first are to apply.
- Illegal Wizardry or 'Summoning' without granted permission from the ruling government.
- Slandering the rule of the governing body.
- Physical assault on official statesmen or any politically-affiliated individual.

And, thusly, what is considered to be of the highest of criminal acts 'Tier Three Crimes' are categorized with:
- Physical assault on any appointed noble figure or designated individual charged with an authoritative position within the various clans that make this their home (in form of low nobility), or the High Council.
- Murder.
- Using one's affliction, either by beastly or parasitic means, to evade capture or to cause anyone citizen harm or misfortune.
- Feeding the curse by means of involuntarily consuming the blood of anyone citizen of the idyllic, elysian realm; criminals are exempt.
- Conspiracy against the state; be it supportive of the enemy during wartime or lending information to a potential outside or internal threat.
- General treason; something which is able to be determined by appointed consul or official.

The following is what can be expected as a just punishment for each tier of crimes:

'Tier One Crimes':
- Warnings.
- Fines.
- Light incarceration.
- Mild beatings.

'Tier Two Crimes':
- Public beatings.
- Public flogging.
- Branding.
- Extended incarceration.

'Tier Three Crimes':
- If Under Other; brutalization and treatment as an animal. (Under express orders of the ruling governance.)
- Execution (Under express orders of the ruling governance.)
- Maiming (Under express orders of the ruling governance.)
- Even more extended incarnerations. (Most Common. For this does not require a trial.

LEADERSHIP.
High Council: The Lord-Protector, as well as his appointed high council.

(To be expanded on in the future, RP to be done on the subject.)

The Elysians are a group dating back before recorded history within the Realm of the Aesterlands (a coloquial term for Sorrows expeditions pre-exodus), home of the Elysians people. The Elysians are believed to be originating from the Principality of Valkael, a peaceful islander people focused on self preservation, equality, and peace. These beliefs come from The Elysians similar ideals, as well as their commonality within their once prosperous fungal isles, rich in resources, materials and more.
Unfortunately, culture submissions are closed right now. You would have to talk with Squid, as Lore Coordinator, about this. Especially since that isn't actually part of Alteran History, and shouldn't be magicked into existence.

It’s hard to take this as serious as you write it out when it’s been magicked into existence. Since before recorded time? Really?
