About You!

1. What is your Minecraft username?
Ajax_Kingslayer
(New players can only use one account to begin with, so please don't list any alt accounts. You can apply for an alt account after being here for one month.)

2. How old are you
?
20
(Please note that the minimum age to take part on the server is 14. Due to the era of the role play there are some more mature themes which may not be suitable for anyone younger. We can't be held responsible should you choose to lie about your age.)

3. What country are you from?
The good 'ol USA
(HollowWorld is an English speaking server. People from around the world are more than welcome to join us and take part provided that they do their best to use a good standard of written English both in game and on the forums.)

4. Have you read the King's Law, Code of Conducts, Official Lore, and the Player Guides yet?
I have.
(There, you can find information about how our server is run, as well as the playable races.)

5. In your own words, how would you define metagaming and powergaming?
Metagaming is using knowledge that my character would have no knowledge of, either in a fight or relaying a message. It does not have to be a self-aware use either. Powergaming is when my character, or any, basically cheats like a super-hero, dodging all attacks or always striking first, never doing "attempt" in an emote.
(It is important to understand what these terms are and why they are bannable offenses in any roleplaying community.)

6. Do we allow X-Raying mods or X-Ray texture packs on the server?
Negative.
(This question goes for any method that can be used to unfairly find and mine ores.)

7. Name one of our current Mentors.
Niko.

(Mentors are designed to help you get used to the server; you can see a list of our current Mentors and what they can do for you under 'Code of Conduct!' [x].)

8. Tell us about yourself!
Avid r6 member, MASSIVE player of mount and blade warband. I've been pumping 700+ hours in that game, planning on getting 1k before Bannerlord comes out. I occasionally play some DnD, but that's a newer installment in the list of things, as well as playing billiards. Been reading some books by the current president as a case-study for a psychology class of mine, really interesting details in that one.
(Introduce yourself! Tell us some of your hobbies, what kind of music you like, other games you play, maybe any pets you have. We're not asking for anything too personal, but we would like to get to know you a bit better to help the application and transition. This question needs to be a minimum of five sentences and not focused on Minecraft.)

9. Do you have any examples of your work?
Negative.
(This question is optional! Are you an artist? A builder? A writer? If you want to show off some of your work, we'd love to see it! You can upload a file at the bottom of the page to attach some pictures if you like! If you don't have anything you want to show, that is perfectly fine. Don't worry.)

10. Did anyone refer you? If not, how did you find our server?
I was introduced from Auriel, though that was awhile ago.
(This question is also optional. If you were referred by someone, that person has a chance to get a referral reward.)

About Your Character!
This section is about the character you intend to use once you join the server. We ask that new players follow these guidelines during this portion of the application:

Character Name: The Mercenary
(Be mindful of the Medieval Fantasy theme when choosing your name.)

Character Age: 40
(Simple enough!)

Character Race: Anhalder Human
(Have a look through our Playable Races! Here's a helpful Guide!)

Appearance: A larger man clad in plated mail, he stands roughly at 6 feet and wears his damaged and scarred armour well. If one could see his eyes, they would be off-coloured blue, mostly due to the scarring over his right eye. His skin is a fair loam, his hair greying through the years.
(We just want to make sure things like hair color, eye color, skin color, and clothing is all fitting for the setting/lore we have.)

(Optional) Picture of the Skin:
(Attach a picture here if you have one. If you don't have an image, that's fine. Just make sure you describe it well in the appearance section.)

Written Test!
The Mercenary's tale.

The man once known as The Mercenary is shrouded in mystery. He came from a regular household of a a blacksmith and his wife. Their child grew up learning the important trade, though not skillfully to be called a master, of smithing. The young lad would eventually finding himself growing physically to meet the demand of a smithing life, but he yearned for something more. Every day, with his father's approval, he would go out into the woods and cut wood. This wood would not be used to fuel the flames of the forge, but would be used to further growth involving the family's income, which would be traded to miners for coal. With increasing amounts of adventurers around, his father's smithy grew to be an attraction, though the young adult did not see himself as a smith down the road. His first commission was a longsword, favored by many men of his culture, and he set out a personal journey and life-course to make this blade the very best, or so he thought. Regimenting himself, he would start every work-day on the blade the same, saying the same few words, doing the same few chores before working on each part of the blade. After three hard months of making a perfect blade for his quality standards, he set out in search for the soldier he made the blade for. Upon arrival, he presented the blade, much to the amaze of the soldier, thinking it was his father's work that made the blade. Upon the last look of the longsword, the young lad knew he wanted to live by steel and not by smith.

After deciding this, he set out making his own armour and blade, though told his father it was another commission from the soldiers. He toiled endlessly making the armour as tip-top shape for his skill, which was average enough for the everyday man. After making said armour, he knew a blade would need to be made, however money was short. He donned his plates and bid his family away; they prayed the young man they raised would make them proud. It is slightly unclear what happened from the time he was 20-30, but he did simple work for simple pay, living his life. Until the age of 40 did he fully come to be a swordsman, though never famous nor important to mark himself in the world. Setting out once more, he left his old name, using only the moniker of, The Mercenary.
(This is where you tell us a story of your choosing! Be creative. It should be 400 words minimum and use the character you've created above. This is what we use to judge your ability as a roleplayer. Show us how much you've learned by reading our guides and lore. Include anything you think will impress us!)

Hey thanks for your application to Hollowworld!! Do note that for your character we really only want to see the most basic of skills. Blacksmithing is a very tricky skill- and it will require a teacher in game to create steel and become any level of good at blacksmithing in game. You can start off repairing your weapons and armor assuming they are of a low quality. For fighting, your character will also have to start with a basic skill-level as well. This is to allow your character to grow and develop. Let me know if you understand this or need further clarification.

I do understand, I meant for moreso a makeshift steelish alloy of weaker iron anyway for upkeep purposes, if you'd like me to edit wordage for the word iron, let me know! I was just slightly unsure of how "Highly skilled" A character could be classified before it had to be server based, knowing that steel requires a high-degree of self-teaching or a teacher is good to know.

Making strong steel- requires a teacher.
Iron is fine.
