| A History

The Althams trace their history back to the Arget Isles of the old, Northern Kingdoms; their family historically lied just above the middle of the strict Silver Elven caste society, forming a sort of low-nobility. They served as diplomats and scholars, with various family members living throughout the continent. Beginning with Bancroft Altham, the family was lifted to a higher, middling nobility, with his youngest Eastoft Altham serving on the Silver Council of Arget and his eldest, Royston Altham, serving as a key diplomat in the north of the new Eastern Kingdoms.
The family established a small estate on the coast southeast of Storm's Landing in the early 2300s, and the son of Royston, Leighton, had grown a small fortune shipping goods throughout the southeast of the continent.
The course of the Althams was forever changed in the disaster that befell the Arget Isles in 2306, and having been in the region, their few merchant ships were the first to arrive, scouring the ruins for survivors. Returning to the small family estate southeast of the Landing, these survivors began to construct homes of their own and grow a city around the estate, creating the city of Eldpoint, with Leighton, the owner of the estate, being named as Count of the city and the successor to Lord and Lady Cerridwen on the Silver Council.
Continuing to grow the city's dominance and influence, prosperity befell the people of Eldpoint through profitable exports of tea, marble, and quartz, as well as other manufactured goods. At this time, the hamlet in Verdant Valley was established by a close family friend, Thryss Vendolyn. Having two separate Lavoyarde families marry into the house, the family has been influenced by their traditions and culture.
Still now, the family has continued to grow in influence, uniting the many regions surrounding the city of Eldpoint under a single banner in wake of the threats of the realm, forming the Kingdom of Aethel Deira.
