ARTIFACTS AND TRINKETS
Once a Divine considers an individual worthy of more of their power and trust, they are granted an item of divine power. These items are entrusted to that individual alone, and without proper care the divine may very well take it back.

Moving through the divine system, characters may come into possession of an Artifact granted by their Divine as a reward for their faith. Hitting Tier Two, you will receive an Artifact through the process outlined below, and hitting Tier Four allows you to apply for a secondary Artifact OR a Divine Trinket with an added [Ability] on your current Artifact. There is a possibility to find small divine trinkets in the world also, but that is not something you can apply for and if you find yourself in possession of one, it does not effect the ones applied for through the divine system.
Boons will also no longer be present - They are a remnant from the first divine system and not accessible to new characters. Therefore they are now gone, the powers faded.

Should you feel your Artifact does not work quite as you intended, or it has problems not anticipated, you may submit a rework of your item/a new item proposal entirely. There is no limit on the number of times you may do so as long as the frequency of requests doesn't pose an undue burden on the team.

The full list of Artifacts can be found { here }.
The thread in which to submit your item requests can be found { here }.

------

Artifact and spell effects in general are looked at in terms of how they affect agency; what they allow the user to do, and especially how they affect anyone trying to oppose them. Effects that directly limit an opponent's ability to react are generally avoided (i.e CC), as are effects that limit their ability to interact with you, and the question is always 'what can someone going against this do about it?' It isn't a zero-sum game, there's always going to be some element of advantage for effects to be meaningful, but it needs to be balanced to have counterplay to avoid frustration, and specific effects/their tradeoffs should be kept fairly simple to help balance remain consistent. Below are some examples of what we tend to avoid and why;

Blinding
- We do not want effects that render someone unable to respond for an extended duration, as it is effectively a stun and it allows for that character to be killed with no ability to react. Effects that give a sort of distraction, make it harder to see, etc - These are fine, but full blindness even if its temporary is a no.
Flight - We have spells that fly, and glide, but generally speaking we shouldn't be having Artifacts that allow for flight in full where they are not hindered by something. You cannot take your armour with you, you cannot carry another person with you, etc. This one is less a hard no and more something you can discuss.
Mind Control - Artifacts that directly take a character's actions away from them are a no. You cannot make someone abruptly leave the area, or stab their ally, or etc, there needs to be some way for them to control what they're doing or to have that choice in how they work with the effects.

- [ TIER TWO ] -
Upon reaching T2 of the divine system you are granted your Divine Artifact. Please submit the following form with your desired effects/descriptions and await Divine Staff approval. It may be used once it is approved and posted in the Artifacts thread. Divine Artifacts may only be kept in your characters possession.

NAME: Name of the item.
DESCRIPTION: A brief description of the item.
PASSIVE: A passive effect, like giving off heat in a small radius, giving off an aura of ease, etc.
[ABILITY]: A single ability such as being able to shift from bow to sword, or to send out a ring of decay, etc.
ATTUNED TO: Character name / IGN

- [ TIER FOUR ] -
Upon reaching T4 of the divine system you are granted a either an additional Divine Artifact (using the same form as above) or the option to add one [Ability] to your T2 Artifact and gain an additional Divine Trinket. Please submit the following form with your desired effects/descriptions and await Divine Staff approval. It may be used once it is approved and posted in the Trinkets thread. Divine Trinkets may be left in the possession of others.

NAME: Name of the item.
DESCRIPTION: A brief description of the item. Trinkets are generally just that, and not weaponry or armour etc. Smaller. Lanterns, rings, quills.
EFFECT: This can be a passive or an ability. It is a minor effect, however, and not something overly strong. Think more flavour.
ITEM HOLDER: Character name / IGN

+ This change applies to all current divine artifacts, to get them all under the same format.

Updated;

From now on, T2 will receive an Artifact, and T4 will be able to apply for a secondary Artifact OR a Divine Trinket with an added [Ability] on their current Artifact.

This is the only bump I will be doing - Several of you have not submitted your Artifacts/Trinkets in the new format and we're a week beyond the stated deadline. I will give until this weekend before considering the items null and void with nothing to replace them - If you are in discussion with me then you are fine but I needed people to reach out at the very least.
'For those in the current system; you will have until the 1st December to submit your proposals. Divine staff will review them and request changes if necessary before they are implemented into the new system. Do not worry if it is not approved by this date, only that an idea is submitted. '
