Candlewood is structured in a series of "Circles" dedicated to pursuing one part of the aforementioned knowledge.

Candlewood is focused on discovering new ideas, processes, and inventions.
As such - Candlewood has created many new inventions.

FACTION TECH 1/3: AIRSHIPS
The scholars of Candlewood have discovered a new approach to an old technology in their research to rediscover the science of airships; an enchanted form of birdwood that, given a sufficient size and the proper application of heat, seems to defy gravity. It's finicky to use and has to be just right to work, but in tests to determine feasibility they find that they can integrate it into a small boat and sail it about in the air as they would in water.

Candlewood unlocks airships. The technology only goes so far; it only works to make small ships, at most fifteen meters long, and doesn't work well for much else. These ships don't require a balloon, and can look more like normal ships adapted to sail the skies. Flying in them is risky, and not for the faint of heart. Piloting an airship requires a Mind+Handling check to get it to go where you want, which is generally necessary once per flight unless the flying conditions change enough that a DM deems it necessary.

The difficulty of this check increases with altitude as the winds become stronger; each 50 meter increment increases the required number of successes by one. Flying between 0 and 50 meters off the ground requires one success, flying 50 to 100 meters requires two, etc. Failing this check by one means that the airship is drifting aimlessly. By two, and the airship starts to either ascend or descend by 50 meters. Three, and the airship starts to nosedive, but may be recovered by a successful check. Four or more and the airship is catastrophically out of control, and is heading for a crash.
