Divinity Hub

1619451366057.png

Welcome to the overview of this new and exciting town called Praes Divina.
A town with a place for all religions.
No matter what God or Goddess you worship, you will find you've never risen through the tiers as quickly as when visiting this hub.

Praes Divina is divided into four districts, which coincide with the starting mundane tier and going up all the way to the fourth divine tier of Prophet.
Each district will have the accommodations necessary to allow anyone to follow their own Blessed path. All districts have one thing in common though: they are the places in which blessed folks show significant signs of worship to their chosen divines (since this is such an important iterative part of the process of becoming favored by the Gods). Because the divines differ quite a lot, such signs of faith take on a wide variety of spectacular forms. The town is heavily centered upon this divine progress and it is exactly this reason that has started to draw characters of all ethnicities to the city, coloring the city in wild colors and mixing cultures, foods, clothing, habits, and sports.

This is the place where any and everyone can show their loyalties to their true Gods and Goddesses!

= [ District One ] =
The Start Of The Journey

This is the largest district and is made up of the outer ring and lowest levels of the town. It is a crowded place, where everyone fights for their space to live.
People do their best to show their love to their deity and as such, their practices often clash with the ideals of other deities.
You rarely find children here, as it is a dangerous place and it often takes at least 16 years for someone to realize their true alignment.

There are public spaces to attend and host events at, which are of thematic significance to each of the divines.
Each of the divines has its own public space (think a forest for Shalheranna, a graveyard for The Grey Lady, etc.)

Separate from this, are places all around this district where one can perform notable acts in line with their divine.
The great hustle and bustle has attracted many merchants who have settled here to sell their wares (Jax).
There are hunting grounds (Theodra) and the list goes on, accommodating for each deity a path for a commoner to take and become blessed in good time.

In this district, you will find:
- The Grand Exchange -
- Stages to preach from, to show worship of a chosen deity -
- Event sites thematic to all the Gods individually -

= [ District Two ] =
Helpful Conflicts

The district of the blessed of the multiple Gods.
Although the district is open to anyone, you'll mostly find blessed characters of the first or higher tiers here and those who wish to gain the favor of the Gods.
Events hosted within this district are often of a more spectacular kind than the ones in the first district, sometimes even featuring blessed magic in the mix.
The people that walk around here are always recognizable by something they keep on them that represents their Divine personally, like clothing in the colors of their preferred deity.

People in this district vie for recognition from their deity and thus it is not uncommon for the sickly to enter this district in search of divine healers. Or for the poor, looking for a blessing from Jax. Nor even for the weak, looking for the strength of Valiant worshipers to help them in their struggles.
The struggle to impress their own deity has paradoxically resulted in opposite religions unwillingly strengthening each other; because when a Jishrimite releases a beast and a Theodra worshipper hunts it down and kills it, both have gained favor in the eyes of their divines. This is the strength of Praes Divina!

In this district, you will find:
- Shrines to different Gods, crafted by the blessed, with all sorts of thematic offerings on them -

= [ District Three ] =
Blessed Learning And Divine Powers

This is a district of great opposites and much greater extremes than districts one and two.
In this district, very conflicting things happen alongside each other. Some blessed mostly meditate and look inward, finding earnest and genuine faith in their Divine. While others show evidence of their unique understanding and outlook towards their own faith by wreaking havoc and destruction in the district (Jishrim). Others, in turn, build the city back up in the wake of the destruction left behind by those of other faiths (Korog).

This is also the district where the great Blessed Teachers reside. Mundane and lower-tiered blessed travel to this third district in the hopes to find lessons.
This is why the district is littered with barracks, dancing schools, workshops, and so on, all thematic to their respective divines, teaching their virtues.
Here in district three, blessed magic is common, and one who is not familiar with it may find themselves confused, as they experience feelings of great dread and great happiness in short successive order by merely walking the street from one place to another. This is why we advise any mundane character to be under the supervision of a blessed of their divine preference.

With this district being one of such extremes and with blessed folks struggling to prove themselves to their divines, this is the district with the most inner conflict.
It can be both a place of peace as well as a place of great anguish and is the largest source of change that seeps out into the wider world of Altera, as blessed go to great lengths here to attempt to gain favor with their divines.

In this district, you will find:
- Thematic 'schools' which are made and used by the blessed to teach and learn, so they may both rise in the ranks of their deity -

= [ District Four ] =
The Purest Of Pure

At the heart and very top of Praes Divina resides district four. The district where the most divine of prophets watch over those on the tiers below.
Yet, not all of them have reached the ultimate blessed position and a fair deal of them are still struggling to get to that final marker.
Those that reside here have a significant presence in the world as an embodiment of the virtues of their divine.
They show a constant effort to guide and foster their faith through significant personal acts or active participation in events in the other districts.

People who travel to this district come to hear the words of their great prophets about their own unique views and understanding of their divine.
The blessed compete in sanctifying areas and regions of this and other districts in the name of their divine and sometimes even create larger secondary shrines or churches.
The district is filled with people who are part of organizations they often created themselves, dedicated to their divine.

These unique blessed prophets show a special differentiation from other blessed folks by showing what faith means to them personally.
District four is well visited as a tourist attraction, as the prophets often make a show out of a great personal offering gifted to their divine, which is sometimes of such significance that the deity itself comes to attend and accept the gift personally, to much "oohs" and "aaahs" from the crowd.

In this district, you will find:
- Larger churches and places of worship than anywhere else in Praes Divina, made by the prophets -

Disclaimer: yes, I stole the text-dividers from Elz's post about the Divine Tier system, cause it's heavily based on the tiers (made spatial). Only seems fitting.

The many tarps of faiths and trades in District One form Praes Divina's "Grand Exchange" [link].
A visit shows you all sorts of exotic items, from unprocessed wood to finely processed silken garments.
It is here that one must go to check the prices of their wares and acquire necessities to create new equipment.

Finally, all the tarps are done! Can you guess which one is for which God or Goddess? :)
I really hope the Jax, Korog, Theodra and Valiant invite posters will help me to get people of the respective deities to help to fill the areas below the tarps with wonderful divine related things!

Galaxy helped me dig out some of these tunnels. Now people can traverse Praes Divina and avoid any particular religions they don't want to pass through. As such, these tunnels and the main square here are neutral grounds. Killing, maiming, threatening or any of the kind is therefore heavily frowned upon and will gain whoever tries that the disrespect of many (probably even including their own faith).

All these different shrines in one place really do look better than I had ever imagined. It's a thematic journey to walk around the platform!
It's only Korog, Valiant, Shalheranna and The Grey Lady left :)

A campsite has been made down at the entry of Praes Divina. All who wish to stay for a few more nights can set up their own tent (yes, you may build your own little cozy campsite) on one of the small platforms near the stairs.

Quick question: How does one add an expansion/addition to Praes Divina? Is there a specific process? And how detailed does one have to he in making an addition?

Oh if you got perms there already you can pretty much go ahead if you keep it around the same size as the others have made in the tier of your char :)
The region's been inactive for a while, sorry for that, but you're free to use it!

I've submitted Praes Divina for the region refund list. They'll turn it into a ruin. It was always the plan to have it be destroyed in the end, but that plan was to do it through events. Unfortunately things didn't quite work out. So if you still have stuff in there that you'd rather not be lost, now is a good time to take it out. For instance particular items, books, or heads. If you really want certain blocks back, please can you do so without griefing the area (by placing back other blocks if you take your blocks out) that'd be amazing.

I've asked for your shrines to be spared during the destruction/turning into a ruin. :)

Praes Divina has been annihilated.
The feeble foothold of the Gods was left abandoned for too long.

Although the power of the deities who were worshiped there has protected their respective shrines, the city is ruined.
The exact events that occurred there are vague and range from Qlippoth's creatures overrunning the place to Qlippoth itself wreaking havoc upon the stronghold.
Whatever happened, the result remains the same; Praes Divina has been fatally wounded and now serves as nothing but a pilgrimage destination for the shrines that remain intact.
