Occasionally, Core Races of HollowWorld will be phased out. This can be for a number of factors- no interest from the playerbase, issues with the races as a concept, or simply to fit the setting. Regardless of how they got to this point, Races that become endangered or labeled 'extinct' all follow the same rule:
1. No New Characters of [Race] may be created. Existing characters are free to complete their story arcs.
While these races are not technically yet 'Extinct', it is the presumption that they eventually will be within HollowWorld's lifetime. You can find the old archives of information on these endangered races archived in this very forum section!
No endangered race will be returned to HollowWorld while the problems that put them here still exist. As unfortunate as it is, this is the sad truth of the situation. To try and give the community as much freedom and candid, respectful consideration as possible- Races that are being overviewed for potential Endangerment will also be listed below the currently "Extinct" races.

-The single exception to this rule is it if two physically compatible existing characters of the race decide to create offspring. Even then, it is not a guarantee!
