To fight with righteous cause, when no one else will, the realm is ours to guard!
Circa 2309

────────────────────────────
─────────
The Realmsguard─────────

The Realmsguard is a faction dedicated to traveling the lands abroad to provide help
when it is needed most. Originating as a band of likeminded followers of Valiant, their tenets
and practices heavily influence the code of honor, chivalry and justice that all members abide by.
With that said, other faiths have been known to join the cause under a banner of
righteousness.
──────────────Laws of the Realmsguard──────────────
All reputable faiths are welcomed if they pay homage to Valiant and do not conflict with what the organization stands for and against.

Recognize the laws of the land abroad before considering a course of action as justice takes on many forms.

Raise only your sword against a genuine enemy that has either threatened you, your compatriots and/or innocent lives.

Remain stalwart against personal temptations and grievances, stand united on all fronts.

Fight to stem the tide of heresy and profane ideals.
─────────Oath of the Realmsguard─────────
Those aspiring to officially join the ranks of the Realmsguard are expected to pledge themselves to an oath.
Following the tenets of one's faith and the laws of the land can be an arduous balance to achieve.
In the end, this ordeal proves a member's strong morals and strength of character as they travel.
An act of one member effects the integrity of all members, and thus, this ensures they're capable.

Before an existing member, an oath-taker shall raise their weapon of choice, reciting the following below.
────────────────────────────
Upon this day and ground, I stand before my peers and the storm above,
to recite the oath honored by those who came before me.

With this allegiance forged,
I observe our tenets as unbreakable, for they bind us together eternally.
This is our Law.

With this weapon in hand, I raise it to slay our enemies and defend the people,
with the wisdom to know when to use it.
This is our honor.

With this pact made before the skies,
I acknowledge and respect the storms of Valiant and his council, even as I follow my own faith.
This is our creed.

I hereby pledge myself to the Realm, and rise now, as a Realmsguard.

─────────Boons of the Realmsguard─────────
The foundation of the Realmsguard has always revolved around the worship of Valiant. Thus, they function much like a Cult.
They acquire certain benefits members may share through the function of Multi-faith, within reason.
────────────────────────────
[The Mantle of Conflict]
Cult members are unaffected by the smells of carnage and blood, seeming physically more toned.
On the battlefield they seem larger than life, easily noticed by friend and foe alike.

[Grace]

Their voices become somewhat louder and more commanding in tone.
Metallic items upon them occasionally hold a blue or red sheen to them.
Their touch can instill a subtle sense of bravery.

─────────Works of the Realmsguard─────────
As a prominent faction, the Realmsguard have been given the opportunity to create certain perks for themselves.
The purpose of these inventions is to either serve individual members in their affairs, or serve a higher purpose.

────────────────────────────
[Earthen Womb]
War heeds the prayers of a dying race, and births life to them anew.
Adult Earthspawn occasionally crawl up from the mud of the fighting pit in Blackrush.
They can speak Common and Eark'zian, but have no memories beyond a vague recollection of combat and endless war.
Initially they're semi-restricted; three are born each month, and who plays them is left to the Realmsguard's purview.

[Bonfire of the Valiant]

By dedicating a weapon to Valiant by building a bonfire around it and praying over it, members of the Realmsguard may cause the flames to eternally light in hues of red and blue.
After ten minutes of resting at it, any member of the Realmsguard or allied blessed of Valiant may warp to another such bonfire that they know of.
Stormy clouds envelop the area five blocks around the flames and vanish with the user, and they appear in a similar manner at their destination.
Each eligible person may travel in this manner at most once per day.
This bonfire provides warmth and protection to all those resting around it.
Those who fall asleep next to the fire find their dreams peaceful, and often featuring an armored figure lingering in background protectively.
The bonfire can only be created within or adjacent to shrines to Valiant, with at most one per region.

[Pseudo-Dragons]
The Realmsguard discover a new species of lizard in the mountains near Blackrush, dubbed a 'pseudowyvern' as they resemble a tiny dragon.
Complete with wings, horns and a tail that come in many shapes and colors, their size is generally that of a small bird's.
Members of the Realmsguard, Blessed of Valiant or long term citizens of Blackrush may tame and train in exchange for bribes of food and shiny valuables.
They are reasonably intelligent, and capable of navigation such that they can act as messenger birds for delivering letters and the like.
Otherwise they bear a temperament roughly analogous to an average dog, with the behavior and abilities than an average dog might have.

─────────Record of the Righteous─────────
There is an ever-expanding list of notable deeds that show what the Realmsguard are capable of accomplishing.
Either representing the organization or individual members, these acts are what anyone should aspire to emulate.

────────────────────────────
Assignments & Significant Acts[Eldpoint Revolution - Finale III: Sieging the City] [Link]
Coordinating with other attackers to breach the city of Eldpoint, the Realmsguard split into two as one group sought to infiltrate the north wall while another made their way through the northern gate. Fighting through the insurgents who overthrew the original government and the mercenaries that they hired to bolster their ranks, they eventually made their way into the city streets, enduring attacks from afar and up close by the desperate defenders. Eventually, they were able to cut down their numbers enough to break morale, causing many to retreat and cripple the stalemate. Some time later, they were recognized for their heroism in a
celebration at Astrakhan, promoted by one of their allies who fought alongside them as they were rewarded with a laurel crown symbolizing their victory.
[Bannerlord Arc Act I - An Act Of Justice] [Link]
On a patrol route along the roads neighboring Blackrush, the Realmsguard had encountered a scene of a mysterious murder that took place, accompanied by the local guards that held two suspects for questioning. Taking up the task of solving the murder, they investigated the crime scene and questioned the two suspects to gather information regarding the victim. After much discussion, they came to the correct conclusion that both suspects were guilty.
[Bannerlord Arc Act II - An Act Of Sacrifice] [

The Realmsguard were led to travel to the ruins of a former cathedral upon hearing rumors of mysterious happenings in the area. Upon entering, they were met with a hostage situation, several groups of people were being corralled into pens while large boulders were hanging precariously over them, held up by their kidnappers. At the center was the setup of a gallows, where they were met with an infamous individual known as the Judge. They demanded that the Realmsguard act as judges for two other hostages, lest all would die if the order wasn't met. Reluctantly, they agreed to hear the hostage's supposed crimes, and came up with a verdict accordingly despite their personal reservations. With the Judge seemingly pleased, they released the two hostages and called upon two members to take their place. Raelur Fen'Shal and Leonhardt stepped forward to be hung at the gallows. They awaited an end that didn't come, as the trapdoors beneath them didn't open as the lever was pulled, another vile ploy at their expense. The Judge made a hasty departure, but kept the others who held the boulders above the hostages to stay, requiring the Realmsguard to persuade or coerce the men above to step down peacefully to let the hostages go. Eventually, they were able to rescue everyone with no deaths.
[Bannerlord Arc Act III - An Act Of Assistance] [Link]

Another patrol from Blackrush had led a group of the Realmsguard to another peculiar sight, a disabled carriage kept to the side of the road surrounded by strangers. Wary of deception, they cautiously approached the men to see if they required help, only to be attacked in another direction by arrows. Thinking quickly, they hurried for cover as it became relevant that they were being assailed by two different groups, bandits and mercenaries alike. Through this three-way battle, they managed to overtake the mercenaries before they could sustain lethal injuries, taking a few prisoners who found it better to surrender.
[Bannerlord Arc Act IV - An Act Of Liberation] [
Link]

Tragedy had struck the Realmsguard when one of their own had a family member taken hostage by an illusive group, their only evidence of where to find them being that they're in Nid Arach. Accepting an opportunity to redeem themselves after facing defeat by Arachians prior, they entered the expansive city to look for clues. After some chatting with locals, they discovered the kidnappers hideout, an unremarkable cave. Braving the unlit depths, they encountered the kidnappers, fighting them in the enclosed space and forcing a few to surrender as their prisoner. After the fight was concluded and the bodies were burned, they rescued the hostage. However, they had learned that the trouble was far from over, as the Judge was the mastermind behind this, seeking the support of Demons in the Nether, with one in particular called the Wither.
[Bannerlord Arc Act V - An Act Of Courage] [
Link]

After some time of trailing after the Judge, they eventually cornered them in the Ashlands. They had discovered them travelling into the fort which had been erected to surround the infamous rift into the Nether. With haste, they stepped into the rift themselves to give chase, travelling across the fiery realm to discover a fortress teeming with fiends. Realizing the danger of being outnumbered in such a hostile place, they were made to sneak their way inside, evading patrols and sentries, while killing a few that spotted them before they could raise an alarm. Deep inside, they came across a peculiar platform, the center of which contained a golden scroll suspended by chains as it was left dangling over a lake of lava. With some careful planning, they were able to get one of their own to climb the chains and retrieve the scroll, departing afterwards with their scouting of the territory complete. They would then prepare to return in full force to combat the evil that was brewing inside.
[Bannerlord Arc Act VI - The Final Act Of Shielding [Link]
With their previous mission a success, they returned back to the Nether rift some time later in greater numbers, prepared to slay the so-called Wither as it threatened a land already burdened by corruption. Upon reaching the fortress once more, they were oddly met by fiends and imps retreating rather than attacking, fleeing a threat far greater than themselves. Wasting no time, they embraced the danger and walked ahead to inspect, finding a suitable place to fortify their position as a foreboding sound grew in the distance. As the source of the sounds neared, they saw the Wither floating in the air as it approached them, accompanied by large skeletons ensnared with black mist and wielding great swords. As the battle commenced, the Realmsguard greeted the enemy with scorpion bolts from afar and divine might up close, narrowly evading lethal strikes of fire and misted blades as the ground collapsed from blasts which gave way to a lake of fire below and certain death. With consistent strikes from their united weapons, the skeletons fell to divine lightning and ice, leaving the Wither to desperately blow the remaining ground to split the group. In a final charge, a few were able to corner the demon and slay it, finally offering peace to a tormented soul. They all had made their way back out of the rift, weary and singed, but alive with no casualties.
[Distress] [Link]
In the swamplands of Bol'tn'thar, the Realmsguard had heard rumors of a spirit harassing local travelers to and from the area, and decided to investigate the matter themselves. Eventually, they had located the spirit in question, but realized that it wasn't entirely hostile, being kept in the land of the living due to something which troubled them. It had pointed to a hut nearby, as if encouraging them to enter it. Taking the opportunity to solve this mystery, they discovered that inside was a gruesome scene. Along the walls were markings of blood, as the bodies of three were left upon the floor, two of which appearing to be robed cultists, while the third, having a likeness of the spirit as they were sacrificed in some dark ritual. Along the side of a now breached wall, was an odd trail of red plants, as if the land was turning into something otherworldly. As they gave the bodies their proper respects, it allowed the soul to leave in peace, however a new mystery opened up to the Realmsguard. Following the trail of red plant matter, they discovered an imposing Hoglin walking about, spotting them and reacting violently. Taking it to the sword and evading its charging tusks, they were able to slay the creature, subsequently stopping the strange corrupting effects around them.
[Uninvited Pests] [Link]
Accepting an assignment posted by Eldpoint's Chilvary Office, the Realmsguard had traveled into the the city's crypt in order to clear out a swarm of spiders which settled themselves in a particular chamber. Surprisingly, they were first met with wavering spirits which acted as if lost in moments of time, faded memories of what they once were. Bearing with their odd peculiarities, they traveled deeper within, eventually finding a doorway covered in webbing signaling that they were close to the source of trouble. Upon making their way inside, they were met with a dozen or so spiders supported by a broodmother sitting atop a statue. The spiders had surrounded them, but they were able to cut down their numbers before they could be overwhelmed, grappling against the broodmother as it descended with its numbers slain. They were able to slay the broodmother in the end and burn the remaining webbing and spider eggs, claiming the reward for the bounty and offering the living and unliving a place of rest with less arachnids.
[What Lies in the Darkness] [Link]
Acquiring an interest in studying the legendary dragons, the Realmsguard had travelled into the Sorrows upon hearing a possible dragon sighting in the region. Through some unremarkable locale, they discovered the sight of a camp filled with cautious travelers. They had explained to them that they've been under attack by some unknown force, all the while an unnatural storm brewed above as they retold their accounts. Lightning struck close on several occasions around the members, spotting an eerie glow originating from the trees. The source of the storm made itself known as a Wyrm, several in fact as it turned out that the campers had accidently attacked one of them and drew their ire ever sense, forcing the Realmsguard to fight them to prevent further harm. With sharp teeth and electricity, several were injured and stunned, but eventually they endured the ire of the creatures and cut them down, earning them their bones as they recovered from brief moments of paralysing shocks.
[Lighting of the First Flame] [

Members of the Realmsguard convene to establish the first Bonfire of The Valiant, offering a weapon as a catalyst to receive the God's blessing as they recite a prayer. Afterwards, some discussions are held regarding the threat of Demons and Corruption and thoughts to deal with it.
[Earthen Womb] [Link]
Realmsguard members and a community of the remaining Earthspawn gathered to foresee the renewal of their race. Placing severak offerings and the golden scroll recovered from the Nether upon an altar, Mylohk Danik called upon the powers of Valiant, or rather Murkztob in order to call forth new Earthspawn. After a brief flashing of lightning, three Earthspawn appeared upon the fighting pits, eager to start a legacy of their own.
Lectures & Meetings[First Drafting] [Link]
The Realmsguard had established themselves officially through their first meeting, having recruited some interested members prior in order to have them gather in one place to discuss certain issues and plans for the future.
[Sword and Scale] [Link]
Raelur Fen'Shal had taught a lecture to other members of the Realmsguard on the various types of supernatural beings they may face during their assignments. The undead, from the commonplace zombies of the Sorrows to the predatory ghouls were introduced, establishing their abilities and weaknesses. Spirits were a separate category also mentioned, as they varied in type, behavior and methods of disposal. Afterwards, copies of books were shared to the learners, so they may refer to such teachings in the future.
[Infernal Insight] [

]
Raelur Fen'Shal had invited the public to a lecture in Eldpoint's cathedral to discuss the sudden rise of corruption. He informed those who attended the nature of Demons and how they affect the people they possessed, mentioning their abilities and how to dispose of them through an exorcism.
Miscellaneous[In Honor of Concord] [Link]
Several members of the Realmsguard attended a celebration in Astrakhan dedicated to the efforts of those who fought during the Siege of Eldpoint. They each received a laurel crown and a favor from the Basileos while they participated in several of the games that were run.
[Rumors of new flying creatures?] [
Link]
Following a lead of peculiar occurrences involving stolen pies and other valuables, several members of the Realmsguard reluctantly decided to travel the roads to inspect for any sightings of the culprit. Eventually, they spotted activity of critters along the path, nestled along a mountainside. Upon further inspection, they realized they uncovered strange, lizard-like animals with wings. After some coaxing with food and other appealing items, a few were able to be taken for further taming and inspection.

─────────Record of the Wicked─────────
Acquiring enemies is a certainty as the Realmsguard fight against heinous and unnatural forces.
Grudges form against those who've strayed from the path of justice or conflict with what the faction upholds.

────────────────────────────
Organizations
IndividualsMelarue Lydril [In-Progress: (Link) (Link)]
An infamous possessed, who has returned from death to continue the spread of corruption whilst serving Demons. She is known to have caused the possession of several individuals, through her knowledge of ritualistic summoning and the use of accursed objects.
Breakers of Oath & LawErwin Eindridi [Resolved: A trial in Eldpoint was held (Link)]
A former member of the Realmsguard who broke a faction law: "
Raise only your sword against a genuine enemy that has either threatened you, your compatriots and/or innocent lives."
This violation occurred during the
Siege of Eldpoint when the Realmsguard had been fighting in the city streets against mercenaries and insurgents as crowds of citizens were fleeing in a panic to escape the conflict. During one altercation, a citizen had gotten to close to one of the hostile defenders, and was held against their will to act as a living shield. Unfortunately, Erwin had decided to strike at the citizen as they fought to get through the enemy, killing them in the process. He was promptly detained to await trial, however, he had neglected to mention their injuries acquired during the fighting, and subsequently bled to death. Some time later, he walked among the living once more under the alias "Arne" while bearing a curse wrought by Valiant in the form of red and blue shackles. He was eventually arrested and brought to Eldpoint to await their trial once more, with the verdict being reached of them being guilty of murder. As punishment, they were executed.
