~— Forlorn Flora —~
As a result of the events that transpired during the Forlorn Crisis, where terrible plague rooted itself into the minds and beings of the realm, several species of plants mutated. Though the crisis is over, and Qlippoth slumbers deep below the surface, the Ashen Blight changed some plants for the foreseeable future. Now, these mutate plants seem to be coexisting in the current ecosystem as stable and identifiable species.

~—~—~

Bioluminescent Lichen — A type of lichen that has been forcefully mutated by Blight, but exists free from it and exhibits only shadows of Blight behavior. It glows an aquamarine color, visible at night or complete darkness, and found to grow in small patches of forest, or more commonly in caves. Illuminates to the effectiveness of small candles, inferior to glowstone or other proper lighting sources. Not found in dry climates.

Medicinal uses: it acts against swelling, non digestible.

Ashen Bloom — A mushroom that resembles a blooming rose, ruffled ridges, teal blue in color. Glows faintly at night or complete darkness in the same color as the above. Illuminates to the effectiveness of small candles, inferior to glowstone or other proper lighting sources. Rare — found only after weeks of rainfall, and only in certain areas in temperate or maritime climates.

Medicinal uses: acts as a strong psychotropic and carries many of the qualities of mescaline (active chemical in peyote) — hallucinogenic experiences are similar to those given by Qlippoth, but lack specific direction or actual meaning. Any interpretation of the hallucinations is vapid conjecture.

Speckled Whitecap — A small mushroom with a thin stem and domed head (cap) — a very light green in color, which glows vibrantly at night or in complete darkness. Illuminates to the effectiveness of small candles, inferior to glowstone or other proper lighting sources. The cap has numerous grey spots (scales), which help identify it. Relatively common in humid areas, such as coastal areas or southern tropics, likes low-light conditions such as caves or under trees. Can also be cooked at eaten without negative side effects — very unique taste, similar to that found from a Morel mushroom, and has a flavor best brought out by butter.

Medicinal uses: helps clot blood slightly faster.

Ashen Blight — Ashen Blight (post-slumber) is different in nature to the ravenous, endlessly thirsty and ever expanding fungus that was found during the height of the Forlorn crisis. It carries numerous parallel qualities, but is different in several important ways: 1.) the fungus grows at a slower rate and will eventually level out, 2.) the fungus can still cause illness but it does not induce telepathic connections to Qlippoth and 3.) the fungus is more mundane to treat and requires less aggressive methods of treatment. Advanced stages of illness induced by the Ashen Blight still induce hallucinations (similar to Ashen Bloom) as well as fever and sweating. Not contagious from person to person.

Medicinal uses: None

Carnivorous Gulper Weed — A large plant about six feet tall (two meters) that is similar to a Venus fly trap. Glows softly at night or in complete darkness, illuminates to the effectiveness of small candles, inferior to glowstone or other proper lighting sources. Green in color and with small, somewhat frail spines, the plant eats mostly bugs and small birds that land on its maw. The Gulper Weed attracts its prey by secreting a sweet smelling sticky paste onto the the base of its maw. It is possible that in rare conditions, a Gulper Weed could get large enough to pose a threat to a child or even a grown man, though this is unlikely. The “honey” the Gulper Weed makes is unique and quite tasty — it can be harvested by cutting the plant down or by carefully scraping the maw of the plant.

Medicinal uses: None
