Second divine presence at Frostwarts has happened. After Shalheranna, now too Visage. Tideborne

At a secret meeting within Frostwarts, Visage appeared through smoke and mirrors before the present group and accepted their sacrifices, disappearing again but not before telling those present to follow a certain individual in their midst.

The appearance of a Spectre is added to divine presence header. Not divine in itself, but noteworthy and to do with the Grey Lady.
Also added:
  • The Veil - Jin Elsattir - A book detailing the kinds of ghosts that are in our realm now, the realms that exist beside our own, and the possible reason for them being here, based off Ventare Seymour's lesson.

The Great Literary Award Ceremony has finished. The top books are now in bold and green to indicate they are recommended reads. There are also signs added to the bookcases that name the top reads, and they've been put in the first slot of each chest! With the help of Cranium Olligreen and Mapboy , Frostwarts has elected the following books as the best of each category, along with this explanation:
  • Notes on the Woodland Wendigo by Asero Crow as the best book for Plants & Creatures.
    Why:
It is very hard to choose just one, but I chose this one because of the historical significance this book has had.
When there was little known about the beast, Asero took it upon himself to describe it in as much detail as possible.
It is the collection of new knowledge that is perhaps most valuable, so this beautiful book is the winner.
    - Bartooliinii (Kublai)
  • 'Divine Balance' by Volare as the best piece of literature listed in our 'Divines' section.
Why - While many of the works compiled were of noble intent and valiant effort, most if not all catered to the whims of a specific deity one held dear. While this attribute should not be mocked, it is abundantly clear that our Pantheon exists as a balance. Forces clash and collide, yet in equal measure provide stability. This novel demonstrates clearly that for us as a civilisation to prosper, all of our Pantheon must be recognised in equal measures. Two competing deities must remain opposed, lest one best the other and gain the upper hand, throwing the scales of our world into chaos.
    - Cranium (Sylvar)
  • 'Path to Magic' by Kethron Dramaign as the best piece of literature listed in our "Arcane" section.
Why - With such a limited and publicised knowledge of the Arcane arts, a simple layman may only fathom the feats and ventures the schools may accomplish. This specific book provides ample insight into the advantages, dangers and relative difficult going into any area provides. Whilst not revealing familial secrets, this novel allows a simple reader to provoke an interest and further pursue their desired path in life.
    - Cranium (Sylvar)
  • 'Alteran Time' by Alak Briza as the best literature in our 'Theories and Philosophies' section.
Why - The book details some incredible different perspectives on how time may truly function, and incorporates theories including both the gods and traditional observations, using metaphors that the layperson can easily understand to grasp the ideas presented. The book concisely presents several different perspectives, as well as Alak's take on the subject. It is certainly a great introduction to the world of philosophical thought!
    - Mapboy (Eastoft)
  • 'Gromm's Farewell; an autobiography' by Gromm as the best piece of literature listed in our 'People & Their Journals' section.
Why - Most books in this section are put there because they describe an organisation, group of people, or are the journal of a specific person. Some of the works mention famous Alterans, but none of them describe so well in chronological order, with a proper beginning and an end, the life of an individual. This book gives not just a glimpse into Gromm's life, but makes you understand the time in which he lived.
    - Bartooliinii (Kublai)
  • 'The Task' by Galim Aeltus as the best piece of literature listed in our 'Artifacts, Relics and items' section.
Why - The Task is a tale, rather than a description. The reader gets to know everything there is to know about the artifact, except its name. What's more, is that the author gives us an insight into what it's like to wield the weapon. What sacrifices need to be made to obtain it. And what dread comes with the usage of the axe. What better way to know what there is to know about an artifact than from the point of view of its wielder?
    - Bartooliinii (Kublai)
  • 'Timeline of Altera' by Gromm as the best literature in the 'Historical Records' section.
Why - While many of the books in this section give much more detailed information, Timeline of Altera gives a general scope of our world, allowing new historians and scholars to have all the starting information they need to begin their studies. The organization of the book is very understandable and approachable, adding to that particular appeal.
    - Olligreen (Jin)
  • 'Maceo - Songbook' by Bart the Bard as the best song/poem in the 'Poetry & Songs' section.
Why - The art in this section is quite varied in length, topic, and tone, so it was much like comparing apples to oranges deciding which was the best. Still, Maceo had clever enough lines, flowing enough rhythm and a compelling enough storyline to make it a cut above the rest.
    - Olligreen (Jin)
  • 'The key' by Unknown as the best piece of literature listed in our 'Secrets, Mysteries & Prophecies' section.
Why - It is a multi-layered book. It is a copy of an ancient tome, but with an author's note. Information is offered on both the one who conserved the old book, as well as the author of the old book itself. The mystery inside tells of dark and unknown creatures and ties them to Queen Grief herself. It is an interesting read that warps you back into the times of the many Exoduses.
    - Bartooliinii (Kublai)
  • 'Evil Races: Syrien' by Gromm as the best piece of literature listed in our 'Races & Languages' section.
Why - The book details an entire race that has gone extinct. No new books can be written except on this topic with new information, unless it is based on the things that are left behind to do research on. Such things as this very book.
    - Bartooliinii (Kublai)
  • 'Sanctum Report' by Malek Tarren as the best piece of literature listed in our 'Places & Locations' section.
Why - This section often describes places from the point of view of its creators or inhabitants. Black Sanctum report describes it from the point of view of a visitor, very detailed, and also names other locations near the place. A good piece to add to any archive.
    - Bartooliinii (Kublai)
  • 'Anxiety' by Unknown as the best piece of literature listed in our 'Guides & Professions' section.
Why - There are countless professions to make guides about. Countless of things you need a helping hand with to get the hang of. Yet, in most all of them, anxiety can play a role in the level of progress you make. The short little book on anxiety and the few insights given is a nice comfort when studying the many guides in our library.
    - Bartooliinii (Kublai)
  • 'The Tiny Spider' by Azure Cerridwen as the best piece of literature listed in our 'Tales & Fiction' section.
Why - The Tiny Spider is a book about neglectance, ignorance, and knowledge. It takes place in a library and is a warning as much as entertainment. It is an old story, but still today quite relevant and educational!
    - Bartooliinii (Kublai)
  • 'The Gambler's Grimoire' by Balatro as the best piece of literature listed in our 'Games & Gambling' section.
Why - Likely the first book about games ever written in Altera. There were only three other books and this one's history made it stand out.
    - Bartooliinii (Kublai)
  • 'Naval Warfare' by Balatro as the best piece of literature listed in our 'Warfare' section.
Why - A series of five, unfortunately our library misses part 2, all in all these five short books give a whole description with useful tactics and notes of worth to anyone interested in naval warfare. Other than that, there was but one book to choose from.
    - Bartooliinii (Kublai)
  • 'Dwarven Origin Myth' by Retold by Krummi as the best piece of literature listed in our 'Myths & Legends' section.
Why - One of the few myths that have turned to folklore that have turned to superstitions close to belief to some Dwarves. This myth is deep rooted in the Dwarven culture; you can find statues of two of the main characters from the myth in Dwarven fortresses and homes for references to their golden olden days.
    - Bartooliinii (Kublai)
  • 'Rumors' by Alteran Gazette as the best piece of literature listed in our 'Newspapers' section.
Why - Who doesn't like juicy gossip and a few rumors? It's even more interesting when it's about the well known people of the day gone by.

The backstory of how Frostwarts got its name has been expanded :D

Backstory:
Many a person has asked the headmaster of Frostwarts how the school got by its name. The tale tells of an old deranged man sitting on the very site where the people wished to build the school. He would not move, not for money, not for food, not for shelter. His only desire was that the school was to be called 'Frostwarts', after which he'd give a very peculiar chuckle. The moment the headmaster sent a letter to Halbed's officials that he had agreed to call the school Frostwarts, the moment it was put black on white, was the moment the man had disappeared. Nobody had seen him leave or knows where he went.

In his place, instead, were a few insignificant old items that he wore on his person. This gave rise to rumors among students that the old man is still sometimes seen walking naked through the school grounds. The abandoned items have since become heirlooms to the school and may be obtained by anyone who studies at Frostwarts through very unexpected means. An item could present itself to them in a time of need, it could magically appear in a reward for a feat, or it can be randomly stumbled upon by pure chance of luck.

These items are known to possess magical properties in the theme of their origin and always display the blue and white colors of Frostwarts' banner.

Term 3 at Frostwarts will be quite a bit different.

In 2020, someone will step in and temporarily replace Kublai, for the duration of one term, as headmaster of Frostwarts.
Classes subjects are going to be darker; lessons on Greylings, Burglary, Evil Creatures and Dark Gods to name a few.
If you have a character that is able to teach evil subjects, please contact me.

As Headmaster, the character would have the power to change a thing or two within the school. The restricted section in the foundations may no longer be restricted for instance, if that suits the character. Points may be awarded for much different feats than before, based on cruelty instead of good learning? A difference in decoration, or task could be given to perform horrible acts or lose points. Who knows?.....

Darkness Intensifies!!
