Personal Information

Backstory: Kralak was born to a poor family of refugees turned farmers and fanatic acolytes to Shalherana somewhere in the south. His family were liked by their neighbors as they were fair-minded and kind to everyone they met. However, their landlord, a greedy dwarf named Rokke, treated them poorly and generally sent bands of enforcers (also mostly made up of dwarves) to intimidate the mainly human farmers. Dwarven and elven tenants were generally left alone, as the landlord touted them as more hardworking and wiser than the human tenants, who he felt were beholden to him. The refugees- including Kralak's family- all took this in stride, as they believed that humans were the children of Jishrim, wicked and prone to sin; it was only right that they be kept in check. It was this fanaticism that allowed Rokke to levy particularly harsh rents and punishments upon the community of humans. Thusly, with his power and wealth growing, he began to enrich the lives of his non-human tenants and enforcers, eventually coming to accept these prejudices as a simple truth.

Kralak went on through life tolerating the injustices his family and friends faced, eventually marrying a local butcher's daughter named Iseult. Together, they were to have a child, and it was this family that gave him the most joy throughout this terrible, cruel life. Yet upon the year of her pregnancy, a great famine struck the land they lived on, resulting in much suffering to his friends, family, and fellow tenants. The villagers begged the landlord to allow them to keep what grain they could grow for themselves, but in his usual ways, Rokke favored only those who were not of mankind, believing his profits to be more important than the welfare of what were arguably replaceable tenants. Despite Kralak's best efforts, Iseult died whilst giving birth to his daughter, who also passed due to malnutrition a few years later. Kralak's heart could take no more and thus began his long journey for vengeance.

He abandoned peace and set out to convert his fellow tenants to war and righteous justice. He found that his tongue was more powerful than any sword, and within the year he led the tenants on a spree of bloodshed and hatred. First, the enforcers were murdered in their sleep, then, Rokke was boiled alive in his own cauldron as a testament to his greed. But their hearts were not content, and so they turned on the non-human tenants who had for so long flaunted their supposed superiority in their faces. When all was said and done, Kralak took control of the lands and began to build a small, armed band dedicated to the uplifting of downtrodden humans everywhere.

Personality: Kralak does not appear to be a vicious warlord on first glance. Instead, he often greets people with a smile and makes a display of giving away his vast hoard of wealth and food to poor humans in various settlements. He often inspires those he meets by his remarkable gifts of intuition, being able to pinpoint the strengths and desires within the hearts of all he meets. Being a megalomaniac and a profligate, Kralak often throws feasts and parties for grateful masses who get to experience tastes, sounds, and sights beyond their wildest imaginings. There is a darker side, to Kralak, of course, and it takes the form of his sheer contempt for his opponents. His glare seems to darken the room around him, and while he does not raise his voice, his words of anger are enough to cause one to cover their ears. He makes sure to tell his enemies what a disappointment they are, and what glories they could have achieved, all if they had shown him his obedience. Further, when it comes to the usage of force, Kralak is all too familiar with how to exact the most pain and suffering. He has no issue discarding those who have disappointed him. At times, his killings are done with such ease that it is impossible for one to justify, that is, until he turns and begins to speak.

Favorite Things:

- Humanity, in all their wisdom and cunning. He believes they are all too often seen as mundane, fallible creatures. If only people knew how angelic, how divine they truly could be!

- The sounds of gratitude and obedience.

- The sounds of applause.

- Things of the exotic, the luxurious, the powerful; the unattainable.

- War, the smell of smoke, the sound of steel against deserving flesh, the taste of bitter iron, and the rough embrace of his hand upon an enemy's throat.

- Riding, especially upon a noble steed carapaced for war.

Least Favorite Things:

- Injustice, especially towards humans.

- Rigidity, stoicism, an unwillingness to use force; these are the facades of a fearful, slavish person. Those who cannot be reforged into better people must be cracked and tossed into the sea.

- Pompous elves

- Ingratitude

Kralak enjoys speaking to people and convincing them to do things they might not ordinarily do. He is adept at twisting opinions and people's perceptions of reality.

Swordplay- 7/10- Kralak is an able swordsman, but prefers to stay out of the fighting unless absolutely necessary.

Polearms- 5/10- Spears, halberds, and pollaxes are within Kralak's range of familiarity, but he's not an expert.

Strategy- 10/10- To achieve his goals, Kralak believes he must have a firm plan for everything and that one must not leave anything to chance. As such, he's become quite the expert at thinking ahead both in war and in social situations. He finds comfort in creating contingency plans.

Command/Tactics- 6/10- Kralak is an adept commander; he understands how to inspire his soldiers with courage and his enemies with fear. He is able to quickly act in situations while still taking into account various factors, such as the terrain, the morale of his men, their weaponry, etc. Kralak prefers using underhanded tactics against his foes, such as poisonings, sabotages, ambushes, and lightning raids.

Relations

Bok'ra (Master)- "I will not fail you. Together, my lord, we will create a kingdom for Jishrim, upon this most troubled earth." After a long period of distrust, Kralak now considers Bok'ra to be a friend and ally. He has much to learn from him, but he hopes that he can one day match his prowess in sowing chaos. Retro Hagrid

Kyle of the Kyle Dynasty- "You and your countless relatives have led my armies to glory. Your services have not escaped my gratitude." The Kyles are a strange but ultimately helpful set of pawns in Kralak's goal for world domination. drbrownca

Coinpike- "What wonders we have already achieved! It is a shame you do not have the eyes to see them the way I do, little man." A mercenary in the employ of Kralak, Coinpike has proved himself to be a useful commander for his armies. Sussurous

Calidici- "We have not talked in a long while, what a shame. I would not lie if I said I did not have my eyes on you. Perhaps, one day, you will be my Queen." Calidici is one of Kralak's more elusive companions, though she is still just as cruel as the rest of his followers. WinterTheOnly

Aislin ("Daughter")- "How strange it is, how you turn the wheels of my heart in the opposite direction." Aislin is the closest thing Kralak has to a daughter, and her interactions with him were the closest he ever came to turning away from his dark deeds. Ultimately, however, his love was self-defeating, as he let her go to be with her family, causing his heart to be sealed with anguish and hatred. Galaxy
