5. In your own words, how would you define metagaming and powergaming?
Metagaming is using information that you learned OOC while roleplaying when your character shouldn’t have been able to know that information within the roleplay they’re in. An example would be learning a language of a race that your character is not/didn't learn in RP and trying to speak that language to other characters of that race. Another example would be reading a player's thoughts and acting on them.
Powergaming is forcing an action onto another character/characters without letting them react or giving them a choice to decide the effects of said action. Powergaming is usually used in making a character always win/invincible and it takes the choice away from other roleplayers when it comes to what they want to have happen to their own characters. An example would be instantly killing another character in a battle.
6. Do we allow X-Raying mods or X-Ray texture packs on the server?
No, X-Raying mods and X-Ray texture packs are not allowed on the server.

8. Tell us about yourself!
Hey, my name’s Padma and I’m going to be a sophomore in highschool soon! I’ve always liked roleplaying and used to roleplay on different servers, but I’ve been interested in applying to HollowWorld since I was 13. I love cats and dogs and have two cats of my own, named Leo and Peter, and I’m hoping to get a dog soon (though I doubt either of my cats are looking forward to that). In my free time, I usually just end up reading, watching Netflix/Youtube, or hanging out with my friends. When it comes to music, I mainly just listen to whatever’s popular at the time since I don’t have any interest in more niche genres of music. I listen to a lot of artists like Ariana Grande or Billie Eilish, or just whatever’s on the radio.

Moor Elf
Appearance:
Evos has a relatively slim build, as expected of a moor elf. He has creamy white hair that’s messy and cuts off around his chin, bangs covering part of his forehead. His skin tone is dark grey and he has violet eyes. Though he doesn’t follow the Moor tradition of growing his hair out, he does sometimes keep two small braids that frame his face in place of braiding all of his hair. When it comes to clothing, Evos typically dons tunics and trousers or robes.

The bright and warm bonfire roared, illuminating the area as freshly cut logs from the forest were thrown in. All around, moor elves from different clans laughed and cheered as they talked, all wearing distinctive masks decorated with vibrant colors and designs. The smell of meat and various other dishes wafted through the air.
“It’s already that time of year again,” Evos thought to himself. “The festival of masks.”
Even though he was quite young, the sights and smells of the festival of masks were something he had come to know quite well. It was a time when everyone could let loose and relax, and celebrate how hard they had worked the passing year. Of course, the feast was also a bonus. A wide variety of dishes and drinks were spread out across tables, just the sight of which made his mouth water.
He got up from his seat next to the bonfire, walking over to the table to grab a bite to eat.
A firm hand clapped him on the back. He jolted, just barely avoiding knocking over a couple of drinks. “Hey, Evos,” a familiar voice called out, laughing.
He sighed, turning around to face one of his close friends, Lisabet. “Do you always have to try and sneak up on me,” he grumbled.
Lisabet chuckled, grabbing a drink for herself and handing another to Evos. Letting out a heavy sigh, he took a sip. It’s sweet.
“So, you actually came to the festival this time around. Didn't think you had it in you,” Lisabet teased.
Evos groaned, rolling his eyes. “It's not like I wanted to. But my parents were really insistent this time that I at least come and check it out. They say it'll do me no good to just be locked up in my room all the time.
Lisabet hummed, taking a sip of her drink. “Well, they're not wrong. You’re sixteen, Evos. You’re not an adult yet but you're not that young either.” She waved her arms around dramatically, continuing, “You have to start looking at the world around you. Though you may not like it, you need to put some serious thought into your future. Don't you have any goals, any dreams you want to achieve?”
“Dreams, huh…” Evos trailed off, swirling the sparkling liquid in his glass. “I can’t say I do…”
She sighed, giving him another pat on the back. “Well, think about it later. But for now, we are going to go talk to people.” Evos shot her a pleading look and she shook her head. “C’mon, it’ll be fun! Besides, when else are you gonna have a chance to meet new people?” She grabbed his arm, dragging him over to a group of her own friends.
The night continued on eventlessly, Lisabet taking him from one group of people to the next. Evos tried his best to be polite and friendly, but her question was the only thing he was thinking about. It wasn't something Evos had ever really stopped to think about, after all.
What… are my dreams?
He continued to wrestle with the question for the rest of the day, but by the time the events of the festival died down, and all the partygoers were sound asleep in their beds, Evos still hadn’t found a clear answer.
He stood outside in the now quiet lot, looking up to see countless stars spanning across the expanse of the night sky. He knew he should probably go home, and that his parents would be worried that he was out so late, but he needed a little bit more time. He wanted to be somewhere where he could think.
“My dream in life…” He whispered out loud to himself, staring at the dirt underneath his feet. “Is to find something to live for. I want to have a purpose.”
He let out a breath that he didn’t know he was holding.
The future was uncertain, that’s for sure. And neither he or anybody else could truly predict what was going to happen. He didn’t even know what he planned on doing yet.
But one thing was for sure. And that was having a dream to look forward to, to chase after, even if it seemed insignificant would make everything seem just a little bit better.
Current Setting of the Server:
The lands of Altera have long been laced with upheaval, supernatural turmoil that would threaten to shatter the realm or tear it asunder. Long, have the peoples of Altera withstood these tribulations, overcoming and persevering through the generations. Only too recently, the realm tangled with the Behemoth Qlippoth, awakened by monsoon rains and with which came the Ashen Blight plague and eldritch abominations. Though the days were dark and long, the realm did survive, through its tenacity and reverence. The memories of the trials behind them still fresh, the realm sits in a state of unease and angst . . . with eyes on the horizon.
In the skies above, the heavens fall and burn across the auburn colors of the setting sun, streaks of color in the gathering dark. The Realm of Altera awaits . . .
