House Wise has set certain laws that are to be followed all throughout the Empire. They are enforced in every major and minor city, port, and travel stop that is part of the Wise Empire.
1. The Wise bloodline is held at the highest regard. Their word is law.
2. Murder is a most vile crime. There is no justification for needless loss of life.
3. Do not attack or assault any man or woman for needless reasons.
4. Thievery is not tolerated. Leave that to the uncivilized bandits.
5. Do not vandalize or otherwise destroy public or private property.
6. It is your duty to notify a Guard of anyone not following the law(s). As such, it is the Guard's duty to enforce the law. For your own safety, do not take it upon yourself to enforce the law.
7. Treat all guests and visitors with respect. Be hospitable towards them.
8. The laws are subject to change- more may be added due to specific circumstances.
The Emperor or Empress can hold a trial to judge the guilt or innocence of anyone accused of breaking any of the laws. One who is only accused will be allowed to stay at their residence, but must not travel outside of the Empire. If one is caught breaking a law, they will be required to stay in a jail cell until a trial has taken place and a verdict is reached for their punishment.
A trial in House Wise functions much like any ordinary trial- the accused may have evidence or witnesses to defend them, and the accuser may have the same to prove their case. Any illegal tampering (such as, but not limited to: bribery, destroying or tampering with evidence, blackmail, extortion) will be severely punished and is forbidden to allow for fair justice.
