His right arm has a set of lacerations from the grip of a bladed whip. Shrapnel scarring up the right side. Left arm has a slash with smaller lacerations along it, scarred a Shalheranan white.
Voice: Dry and straightforward despite frequent gaps in his sentences. He does his best to hide his Sangrian dialect.

Personality:

Likes:
Quiet, restful moments.
Dislikes: Confrontation--particularly from himself.
Strengths: Studious, motivated, self-disciplined. Habitual. Cautious.

Possessions:

Research Materials:

  • Four components of a massive crystalline beetle exoskeleton.
  • A brain component from a Qlippoth colossus [kept in a jar].
  • A vial of imp dust.
  • A vial of crystalline dust as well as recent samples or gemstone.
  • A vial of imp dust.
  • A vial of infernal flora.
  • Constant samples of blooded silver essence.

Wardrobe: A piecemeal tunic with a mismatched pauldron and gauntlet on the right arm--none of them are particularly sturdy enough to properly serve as armour. His entire wardrobe seems to source from different places, nothing quite lining up as a matched set beyond a pair of socks.
  • Iron Gauntlet—part of a pair, with only one of them seeing use. The other is damaged beyond function.
  • Riding Boots—Both similar in make, one seems slightly bigger and more worn than the other.
  • Drakodo Cloak—A masterfully made garment for abating harsh heat. It has been caught in an explosion.
Artifacts:
NAME: The Beetle
DESCRIPTION: A small beetle preserved in what appears to be red amber.
EFFECT: When kept on someone's person, insects keep appearing in their hair every few moments. Spiders seem to crawl out from nowhere, beetles, scorpions. All nonvenemous, and docile. If The Beetle is destroyed, it smashes easily into a powder. The person who smashes it has the powder suddenly sucked in through their nose and mouth, and are wracked with an intense, breathless cough for one round.
ITEM HOLDER: Lysander.
Absorbed into Lysander's cruxstone.
"The red amber Cruxstone conjures an intangible aura of beetles and locusts flying amid spells in a matching vermillion coloration. The spectral swarm never moves beyond the range of the spell cast."
NAME: Communal Heart
DESCRIPTION: A bejeweled red heart that seems to glow from within.
EFFECT: When individuals willingly open their minds to the red heart and touch it along with another willing target, they begin to share visions and surface level thoughts between each other. The longer they remain in contact with the heart, the more invasive the thoughts become and the harder it is to break away from contact. If in contact for more than 30minutes, both targets will start to hear demonic whispers in the back of their minds as they share deeper flashes of vital memories. If in contact for every hour after first touch, they must roll a Mind+Determination and get 3 successes in order to break free, or be stuck dwelling deeper between their invasive communion. It becomes dull after at least one target breaks contact and cannot be used until an ooc day passes. The targets are free to break away through their own will before an hour lapses.
HOLDER: Lysander.
Destroyed with the aide of the Grey Lady, Vowrawn and Ashna.

Jewelry: Nothing.

Pets/Animals: An amethyst firefly from the Crystalline Ridge. Caught by Asero.

Owned Homes: None.

Carried Inventory: A pack of travelling supplies, including a bedroll and waterskin. A notebook, bow and rapier, all given by people Lysander holds in high regard. Once holding a grey cloak for the same purpose, it has since been used irreparably and replaced by a drakodo leather cloak. Alchemical supplies, including samples of Ashen Bloom, bottles of the drug “Reverie”, samples of hydrophobic oil, blooded silver essence, banishing powder, firebreath. Banishing powder of his own make.
General Inventory: Nothing beyond what he carries with him at this time. An old amber he tends to bring around with him.

General Wealth: Poor. Nearly squalid.

Health:

Illnesses:
None.
Allergies: None he knows of.
Injuries: On the mend from bug bites and a glimmersteel slash across the arm.
Sleeping Habits: Restful with an attempt at regiment, but prone to staying awake into the night and sleeping through parts of the morn. Plagues of nightmares and existential dread eat at his calm.
Energy Levels: Outwardly low. When he is made excitable there is something evident about it.
Eating Habits: Basic. He will filch food from others if absolutely necessary. Subsists on a diet of meat and bread. Occasionally insects or other nearby meats if truly desperate. Or curious.
Exercise Habits: He practices drills each day to ensure some amount of preparation with his weapons.
Memory: Takes notes.
Unhealthy Habits: He has an addictive and fixating personality, manifesting in a blossoming use of Ashen Bloom and an extreme focus on the arcane. Obsessive and paranoid. Tends to do taste-tests on research.
Drinking Habits: Bad if he has access to drink. Normally too poor and frugal with radiant to afford.

History:

Birthplace:
A small village in South Sangria.
The Brief Story: Born fourth of five to farmers in an unremarkable community, Lysander did his best to abide by and keep up with his brothers and sisters. Eventually taking up gravetending under Devoss, a retired man-at-arms. Lysander was regaled with some stories of old and taught lessons in reading and writing. Research and some degree of weaponry. Then the day came that he had to bury his mentor. Devoss had succumbed to a war wound while digging a grave and was found much too late. Scared and sobered by the experience, Lysander left to travel to avoid locking into a similar fate.

Travel took him South--through the Ashland coast, past Linlea, Sanardu, Mockingbay, Kingfisher. While in Storm's Landing, he began to meet storied people--storied enough to reroute. Travels took him to Verdant Valley, then Mockingbay once more. The happenings of Mockingbay occupied him and his little travelling party, and seemed to be the catalyst to their forming into a new iteration of the Rangers Guild, which Lysander was grandfathered into unwittingly. Since, events of the crystal gorge and demonic incursion have occupied him, as well as his own personal blundering through interpersonal relations.

The expanded experiences:

Childhood:
The unremarkable third son, Lysander was always lagging in strength or intellect behind his siblings in some capacity--a plight he shared with his younger sister for a time.
Teen Years: Unremarkable in turn. As his brothers took up as a baker and squire and sisters wed and turned to faith respectively, Lysander's plight as one of the town's gravekeepers was a soulless existence in many senses of the term. He found joy in small things, but felt a covetous need to catch up to the rest of the family as well as others his age.

Combat:
  • Lysander was the first to engage Lowan, figment of Riposte, in a duel. He was triumphed over handily.
Peaceful or violent: Violent if provoked--which he tends to be on a hair now.

Weaponry:
  • Swan: A blooded silver rapier given to Lysander by Frost out of charity. Lysander keeps the weapon on him at all times and practices with it daily.
  • Graceful Yew Bow: An as-yet unnamed yew bow given by Som.
  • Shabby Shortsword: A weapon made of salvaged and discarded materials, now left behind in favour of the rapier granted by Frost.
  • Banishing Powder: A mixture capable of igniting undead or otherwise aberrant entities in a stalk of white flame.
  • Firebreath: Kept in reserve for the rainiest of proverbial days, a powder that allows Lysander to breathe fire for a moment.
Combat Training:
  • Informal lessons from Devoss in swordplay.
  • Drills taken from manuscripts.
  • Archery practice with Rhyla.
  • An ill-attempted duel with Freia.
  • Fought off an Ash Hound via rapier in the Mockingbay campaign conclusion.
  • Combatted blightland mages alongside the rangers.
  • Grappling spar with Cieren.

    • Resisted the touch of the an Ivory General's mental attack.
    • Utilized a cogimency-based artifact, a trophy gained from the demon.
    • Through experimentation, resolved that the demons' abilities are arcane in origin--the artifact not slipping past darkthread.
  • Mortan: Versed.
    • Met a survivor of Mortan: Lothaire.
    • Given a base understanding of the practice, not intent on prying further for Lothaire's sake.
    • Prompted to draw parallels between Mortan and the figment Riposte's verbal abilities.
    • Overhearing a conversation prompts him to consider parallels with the current Infernal boom.
    • Read of the supposed incantation "Siempris", used to ward off corruption and possession. Likely not working for any amount of reasons, the dissolution of Mortan may be a factor.

  • Present for Milah’s testimony regarding “Magic” the ascendant divine.
  • Study of old tomes tips Lysander off to the beings of Thyrien and 'the unnamed Goddess of Undeath', both of whom are likely progenitors of the Grey Lady herself, but suitable court candidates nonetheless.
  • Given notice of the state of arcane practice as blasphemy, damning his soul to judgement--but in pursuit of the safety of the realms within the Grey Lady's tenets he does not concern himself with his own damnation.
  • Studied one of the Jishrim source trees as Quill's assistant.
  • Told of the divines’ prior proclivity toward physical form.
  • Dubbed Magic "Felicite", in lack of a formal name beyond "Magic" or "Arcane" (both otherwise easily confused with their respective terms).

  • Intending to make contact with the Grey Lady through Ashna to ask further questions.

Relationships:

Trusted:

  • Himself, and for a time only himself. As Lysander spends more and more time in his own head, he has begun to feel a detachment or even paranoia when contrasted with who he was when he set out on his journey. The naiveté he harboured has sobered into a curiosity of things beyond not only his scope, but some of his peers as well. He cannot manage his addiction to learning, nor his addiction to substance—but if Lysander cannot trust himself he cannot continue. There are needs he must meet.
  • Ashna : Among his dearest friends, colleagues and allies, Ashna has begun to permit herself a lapse in guard around Lysander--one he does not note lightly. The priestess gives Lysander chances to learn in faith and the authority to speak his mind. While not blessed, he works to honour the Grey Lady, and do right by his friend.
  • Cel : He is unsure where they stand entirely. She venerates him as a Pollyanna-type figure despite constant mounting evidence to the contrary. She tells him he is one of the few to believe in her proper, and he was ready to leave his aspirations of being a ranger for her sake. He fears for her soul and for the company she keeps, and even greater for the future they have set out for one another. Lysander feels a terrible guilt that he has not been there, and is unsure if he is even fit to be. Eirlys asked him if he loved the woman, and the answer is complicated; it always has been.
  • Som : There are things she needs that he cannot be, nor become for her; even if he wishes he could be. Somnastra exercises patience and trust in his judgement at times that he does not feel he can of himself—and the provided test for graduation is evidence of a threshold. The two have a close bond—closer than he thought, but he cannot help but feel he has missed out on something. Som grounds him when his fears would carry him away, and has the tendency to inspire the best in others around her.
Closest Friends:
  • Cieren : The first of Lysander's closest friends that he had met. While they may differ as people in many ways, Lysander finds solace in where they are similar more than where they are not. He enjoys her earnest nature and optimistic outlook, letting both keep his in line in turn. She is quick to act, a counterpart to his caution and very much his physical better.
  • Snowdrop : Trifling confidant. They both seem to be comfortable with one another; fast friends. Both parties have made missteps and hasty actions, but they retain a bond that survives mistakes. His current source of comfort and insecure security, the woman seems to consider him more genuine than she does others, especially herself. He does not intend to betray that trust.
  • Halvar : Although he feels a close bond with many of the rangers, Lys cannot help but feel closest to Halvar. The man is genuine, speaks his mind and knows where to ask for and offer help. Lys could not ask for a better friend and colleague.
  • Harl : One of Lysander’s most uncomplicated friendships, in his own eyes. Harlow and he serve as means of alleviating one another’s stresses. The two have both let walls down that they seldom would for others—and Lysander would do so again.
  • Kharn : Kharn was the first to approach Lysander after the results of his failed duel, and quick to offer dueling advice. Lysander and he have crossed paths frequently since, and for all intents and purposes, the assassin is considered a part of the Rangers. He has saved Lysander's life on multiple occasions and demonstrated himself as an impressive and invaluable friend. Where there would be jealousy, Lys has grown fond of the man enough to be happy for him.
Friends:
  • Aryn : The exalt of Theodra saved his life and complimented his shooting. Few could count themselves so privileged and Lys finds himself in a position he had previously been unable to fathom. There is a feeling of importance in their encounters—even the most mundane of them. There is a strange dynamic in their friendship, if Aryn considers it that in exchange at least.
  • Candice : Evidently storied, Candice is often thinking, speaking or acting outside of Lysander’s comprehension. He has no dislike for her, in fact he enjoys her company quite a bit—but Lys cannot help but feel some barrier to overcome to understand her.
  • Ced : The third place archer at the Spring Festival, sought by Lysander upon his skirting from the ceremony. They have spoken a few times since, or at least been present as others engage. He is entrenched in the lore of the Rangers Guild, and even if he weren’t, he would still be vaunted by Lysander for his skills as a mage.
  • Glomlir : A halfling cook that gives an undue luxury to much of the guild, Lysander in particular. While he cannot be a proper mentor to the man yet, Lysander felt great pride in his successful initiation and looks forward to learning more alchemy nuance in the event that Glomlir surpasses his knowledge.
  • Hysope : A dwarven woman with hidden eccentricities. Whether genuine or just for the sake of humour, her interest in insects is a passion Lysander happily shares—and so is her faith. While Lys feels he is not committal or reliable enough for the Lady’s blessing even still, he knows the faith is in good hands between Hysope and Laicelem.
  • Jacob : A man with a complicated past. Though he seems somewhat lax from their general interactions, there is an anger in him stoked by a grudge that Lysander cannot fully fathom. He is reliable, strong and provides much-needed levity when the moment requires it. He seems to look for excuses to lose his shirt.
  • Jaden (Seeker Major) : Despite the rage of the blaze at his fingertips, Jaden has been warm to Lysander. He uses his spells with a care that takes time and experience to notice, and his words and actions follow a similar principle. To be trusted by him—complimented too—is a feeling difficult to verbalize. An accomplishment, no doubt.
  • Joseph (Seeker Minor) : A powerful and clever mage and fast friend. Lysander has found Joseph clever and quick on his feet in combat, as well as kind and caring for his comrades. He seems to look for reasons to find value in others; a trait Lys is attempting to adopt.
  • Laicelem : A more recent Ranger and trustworthy comrade, Laic and Lys seem to get along well. Laicelem’s faith is his own choice, but Lysander feels that if he has contributed to it in any way, he can be as proud of himself as he is of Laicelem for his progression. While Lys is no true cleric of the Grey Lady, Laicelem will always hear his advice or experience should he request it.
  • Marian : Of all his peers, Lysander is still just warming up to Marian—they see each other frequently and engage, but there always seems to be something keeping their discussions brief. She carries grace in her step similar to Somnastra—though in each in their own way. He sees them as the ideal pair of leaders for the Guild, each balancing an aspect where the other may lack. A very good shot too.
  • Nywyn : A much more cerebral scholar than Lysander, but a good friend to have. Lysander appreciates his bookkeeping and study of metaphysics, but both of those are extensions of Nywyn as a person whom he truly appreciates. They have not seen each other in some time, and Lysander misses him.
  • Quill : The mage has put her faith in him as has he in her. She remains as one of the most consistent and grounded sources of advice, and her storied past lends to that. She has saved his life once already, with possibly more instances he is otherwise unaware of.
  • Rhyla : Sociable and competitive, Rhyla is good company that Lysander seeks to keep when he is next able. She is considered more than reliable and capable, and is a name that comes to mind when help is needed. It has been some time since he last encountered her.
  • Sylvia : A woman in constant flux in Lysander’s life. He has been hard on her, and a recent moment between them has made clear just how highly she thinks of him. Unwarranted, in Lys’ opinion. He must remain a steadfast support in her life or risk losing her; something he would not wish to come.
Loose Acquaintances
  • Aelyth : Immediate to offer help in study, Aelyth is someone Lysander wishes to know better. With the success of her trip in the blightlands, Lysander is given both a chance to rest easier at night as well as a future destination for his travels.
  • Aki : An overeager child, seemingly kept under Ashna's watch for her own sake as well as others. Lysander has no issue with her, but needs further evidence to make up his mind properly.
  • Alyssa : Aryn and Aelyth's spawn. Helpful with an attitude, the girl's mild crisis of identity (or rather, her place) resonates with him. Lys only hopes he understands that crisis properly, otherwise he has pointlessly projected his own past experiences on a child that gains nothing from it.
  • Arvyth : The man's "instincts" concern him, especially after the discharge of magic by them. Lysander fears for the man's next outburst, if it ever comes--and it seems Arvyth fears the judgement that will face him if it does.
  • Athos : A weathered man. While Lysander disagrees with the man on the prospects of divine, he respects his decisions and experience. His distant mentorship in wielding a sword has been formative.
  • Atrus : The two share fields of study, though Atrus is far and away ahead of Lysander in this regard. Despite a detached introduction, the two have since managed conversation favourably. Atrus' acquaintance with Lilith and Lothaire, and equating experience between the latter with Lysander leaves him thinking that group is helpful to know.
  • Bernard : Lysander feels little for him beyond responsibility, and that comes due to Astreia's care and investment in the boy's wellbeing. There is a gnawing school of thought in his mind that sees him as nothing more than a test subject, but he will not abide by that. Bernard is young, and should not have to harrow what he has.
  • Citrine : A dark heart. Lysander understands the woman's wariness, even maintaining his own in Mockingbay. After seeing the acts taken against her firsthand, he understands her distance.
  • Falx : One of two papermen that seems very acute to Lysander's research. Enough to warrant concern. The man has a snappy wit that Lysander cannot keep up with at times, and he thinks back on some sentences to realize the subtleties implanted within.
  • Fjord : The man has a charm to him, a nice counterbalance to Lys' slate-faced nature. He enjoyed their initial encounter, as well as others since. An eye is out for the heterochrome without question.
  • Freia : There seems to be some amount of reconciliation between the two of them, and Lysander is glad for it. The actual normal conversation they had was insightful as to what her worldview is—and he finds he can understand it now.
  • Frost : Charitable. The woman made his sword--one significantly suited to him based on one conversation alone. He considers himself indebted, and has promised some fashion of repayment.
  • Isla : Initially the one to accommodate Lysander in conversation, Isla is recognized as the social counterpart of Atrus and her union. While he has had comparatively fewer interactions with Isla, she is seen as a helpful hand for someone as asocial as Lysander.
  • Leofric : A Jaxite present for the duels with the figment. Leofric offered some manner of religious mentorship, and while Lysander declined, the youth's patronage is noted favourably. He will be kept in mind if Lysander's Sangrian heritage requires a priest of Jax.
  • Leonhardt : Amenable in most of their interactions, the Count gave him some pause after a recent encounter with Reinhard--but Lysander would sooner consider the man's judgement than condemn it after their interactions thus far were positive.
  • Lilith : Met briefly with her coven of magic compatriots, Lilith's physicality is noticed second to her commanding aura. The witch exudes magic with each breath. She and the others seem to remember him, which is paramount to flattery. Their recent encounter brought this to a head for him, and he has observed her actions intently since.
  • Lothaire : The two initially met due to Lothaire's eye-drawing appearance sparking all manner of questions in Lysander. When he became composed enough to see past Lothaire aesthetically, his weathered experience was sobering to perceive. Lysander is left curious of if he reminds Lothaire of someone, but is not about to ask yet.
  • Meridian : The other of his 'nosy friends', and easily the nosier of the two. Lysander has details of his life he wishes to keep under wraps, and Meridian and Falx have appeared just in time to make that difficult; however they are hopefully unaware of this. The man seems to care about Bernard in a way Lysander cannot find himself doing, and he thusly respects him for it. The child needs it.
  • Mylohk : The halfspawn was met during a group encounter regarding the Mockingbay conspiracy. Seemingly able enough, Lysander is not entirely able to distinguish a nuanced opinion just yet. He would help nurse Mylohk's fever again if needbe.
  • Nimue : An orphan from the Landing streets. Lysander empathizes with her plight and means to help if he can, but his resources differ greatly from the traditional financial sponsorship. She seemed to be in good hands with Valtae.
  • Raelur : A peer in worship of the Grey Lady, and one much his senior at that. Raelur was met alongside Mylohk and Trefor, and was amenable in the group investigation of a woman's murder in the Mockingbay temple.
  • Reinhard : Pitied. Reinhard’s self-reflection seems to have been obscured by self-delusion once more.
  • Suhkoiza : She has the cadence of someone on the road, even if they tend to meet in the same place at every instance. Lys and Suhkoiza have both taken on a role in Eirlys' life with a staked investment, but even without that Lysander considers Suhkoiza (or "Soup", if he is struggling to say the name) an ally. A good head on her shoulders.
  • Sycamore : Lysander and the caparii's relationship has not reached friendship, but they have had enough personal encounters in recent days to foster a bond. He disagrees with her passive stance on dealing with threats in public, but can sooner find collaborative beliefs between them than stick to their differences. She is responsible for his not dying by Freia's hand.
  • Trefor : Among the trio of the "Realmsguard" that Lysander met in Mockingbay, and among the duo he was given chance to assist with fever. The man seems amenable from what Lysander could tell.
  • Valtae : Kindhearted and eager to assist, Lysander has had only positive interactions with the woman. While they are not exactly close, Valtae has shown herself to be dependable and willing to lend aid whenever possible. He has the tendency to find himself in tatters that she puts back together.
  • Veldric : Just a boy. Lilith's boy. Lysander and his first formal conversation made it clear that many know Lilith's reputation, but few know her in-person. Perhaps Lysander is just barely among that vaunted group, and it gives clarity to the youth. Or perhaps it was hollow words to him. He has an eye on Veldric.
Disfavored Individuals:
  • Aleksei : Self-righteous and misguided down a path he can somehow delude others into believing in. The Inquisition and all its peons deserve the worst, and are an active threat to the realm they state they wish to protect. He would do well to keep his mouth shut and listen, but it seems doubtful he has the capacity to consider anyone beyond himself.
  • Aza : Theatric. To his own detriment. Lysander knows there is a person under there, but he seems to want the demon to be a part of his personality. If he weren't entirely visibly one already, Lysander would have sniffed him out in time. Should the caparii take him up on the experiments offer, he intends to be as ethical as possible.
  • James Stirling : It is astounding how deftly one can destroy his repute, but Lys now understands why Joseph has disowned his father. A shameful creep of a man that would cast on someone unprovoked just to start a problem, then dare to insinuate his noble stature should allow he get away with it. Cretin.
  • Matthias : A mad dog. Let loose in the worst of ways, Matthias is indicative of the reasons Aleksei wanted a Mage Law. A spitfire far too willing to sling spell and sword at the risk of everyone around him. There was the briefest instance where Lysander thought they could be friends; but his cold demeanour does not mesh with Matthias' raging anger.
  • Melarue : The former lead of the Dranoden brood, evidently grappling with exorcism and motherhood all at once. Lysander has not interacted with her proper since the exorcism, but she seems more lucid than before. He is hopeful that she has shed the disillusions instilled in her by the fiend patron.
Hated:
  • Skraag : "Beware the Soul Stealer, and cut down those dead that rise in his image." Skraag and those that follow him are misguidedly carrying their ire over mortality out through lashing out upon the rest of the realm. The effigies and undead littering the countryside are evidence enough that the safety of others doesn't matter to them. Only their own ends. There are even some that delude themselves into believing vyrism a blessing and the Lady's cure a curse.
Wary Of:
  • Outside forces : Malevolent or otherwise unknown entities like Qlippoth, Jishrim, demons, and anything else beyond Lysander's scope of fathom.

Some updates--I've been staggering them steadily but since I am unlikely to RP super consistently until June I thought I would put the time in.

  • Matt “von Ivanov” : An absolute buffoon that would say something one moment and go against it entirely in an instant. His declaration of Aleksei as his father is indicative of just how misguided he is.
We made the list!!!
