The Confederacy can definitely be considered old fashioned with slavery still being practiced (Though with more humane and acceptable living conditions and punishments than there were a couple hundred years ago) and also the fact that waistcoats have been considered the height of male fashion for the last couple centuries. It is a Stratocracy (Lead by the military) where if you want to be promoted to a more national position ou will need to be well versed in politics and diplomacy.

National Religion: Though Dorthan accepts all religions, almost all ethnic Dorthanians believe in the teachings of Edgar Makorth whose collected writings named "The ways of Battle" have been passed down through families since the first cities were settled in Dorthan. Some museums claim to have the original copy of his writings but authentication is near impossible.

Basics of the Dorthanian Government
The Dorthanian government is run by the military in a republic like system. Dorthan is divided up into states and each state is run by Senior General. The Senior General position is acquired by a former dying and the High General appointing a new one to run from a pool of candidates that are chosen from that state's populace voting for 5 possible candidates. When the High General dies his position is then voted on by the current Senior Generals from one of themselves.

History
The early dates are largely estimated from archaeological sites found across Dorthan.
8000 BC - Humans first begin settling the land in Dorthan and practice basic agriculture.
1000 BC - The early Dorthanians begin a warlike society in which their life revolves around raiding and pillaging other nearby settlements to show their people's power.
800 BC - The General Edward the Great conquers and unites the peoples of the area of Dorthan and forms The Federation of Dorthan.
850 BCE~1300 CE - In this time period the Federation of Dorthan sold groups of its soldiers and slaves as mercenaries to other countries in exchange for gold and other valuables.
1326 - Dorthan recalls all of its soldiers and mercs from other nations and goes to war with the Tringens to its east.
January 1332 - Dorthan succeeds in defeating the Tringins and the soldiers return home to heal and rest.
May 1332 - The Abrians to Dorthan's west attack as the soldiers from the War of Tringen Aggression.
September 1332 - The Abrians arrive at the capital of Dorthan, Wrathport and force the acting High-General to sign the peace treaty that placed Dorthan as apart of the newly formed Abrian Empire under Emperor Andrew VIII.
1333~1689 - In this time period under the Abrian Empire the Dorthanians are used as the bulk of the military to conquer a large amount of area extending from the city of Abria to the Smoky Forest.
1891 - With news of the fall of the Tarcheyan Empire the Abrians enforce stricter laws to keep its citizens from rising up and rebelling.
1919 - Abrian anti-slavery activists start becoming popular.
1922 - After centuries of Abrian rule and feeling like the Abrians live lavishly while the people of Dorthan pull all the hard work rebel groups start rising up in Dorthan with secret support from the Governor of the Province of Dorthan and monetary and armaments from the Republic of Octois.
1936 - The Governor of Dorthan Samuel Bohannan declares Dorthan a free nation and takes up the role of High-General of Dorthan and with military support from the Republic of Octois the Dorthanians rebel against the Abrian Empire.
March 1, 1947 - After years of fighting across Dorthan and the Abrian Empire the allied forces of Octois and Dorthan approach Abria where they successfully capture Emperor Alexander IV and force him to sign the treaty which releases the provinces and peoples of the Abrian Empire.
March 5, 1947 - With the treaty signed the forces of Octois and Dorthan leave Abria.
March 6, 1947 - Under a technicality in the treaty Dorthan continually bombs the defenseless city of Abria and other major Abrian cities.
March 16, 1947 - After ten days of bombings the last major cities of Abria are reduced to ruins and the Dorthanian armies leave the former capital of the Abrian Empire free.
1948 - The Dorthanians celebrate their first year of freedom and elect High-General Samuel Bohannan as their leader. They begin the construction of their new nation.

Republic of Octois - Dorthan has a very trusting and friendly relation with the Octoisans starting from their original support in the war for independence to modern day trade deals and embassies. @Fraser028
People's Republic of Tarcheya - Dorthan has a slightly friendly relationship with the Tarcheyans mostly due to being in the Pact, they think that the Tarcheyans make good soldiers but not as good as Dorthanians. There are also rumors that the Tarcheyans build science with hammers. @OneRedBlock
Constitutional Monarchy of Arhemia - Dorthan likes the Arhemians for their political prowess, strong economy, and seemingly endless ideas. They are in the Pact together. @Gregor
Dictatorship of Curitis - They are fat. @The Courier
Constitutional Monarchy of Zanala - Dorthan admires Zanala for its strong economy and it's influence in the Pact. They are in the Pact together. @Lord_Sinclair
Republic of Rondileau - The Dorthanians don't know much abo it Rondileau but are willing to trust them to an extent. They are in the Pact together. @xlockedon
Sammaru - They are the common unintelligent thugs of the international community.
Dictatorship of Chichanista - Dorthan sees Chichanista as the ones that are carrying the Commonwealth and that they are no better than the third-world nations that they ally themselves with. @Tomato150
Armed Republic of Kronea - Dorthan sees Kronea as one of the few nations outside the Pact that has admirable qualities. They admire Kronea for its very efficient policies and for its well versed politicians. @Valonyx

Dorthanian Annexation
*This story can be seen on all major news channels across the world.*
"Hello Dorthan, this is Johnathan Grimbler your anchorman, and tonight we have some news you probably have already heard of. Last saturday High-General John Oswald signed an order that annexed nearly all the land from Dorthan to the Abrian Sea. This land contains much of the Dorthanian Mountains and almost all of old Abria our previous oppressors whose cities we invaded and destroyed many decades ago in our revolution for freedom. The High-General has ordered many divisions of the Dorthanian military to go in and set up provincial governments with Senior General Matthew Barton in charge of the operation. Another part of the annexation was the Emperor's Islands, islands in the middle of the ocean that were apart of the Abrian Empire and which we believe after the revolution some remaining Abrian officials retreated to along with the remaining Abrian Legion, however that was clearly decades ago and we believe them to be long dead by now. The High-General has sent naval ships carrying supplies and settlers to the main island to set up a trading colony. We will have more on this story at ten."​
