The Confederacy of Centuras is a very large, safe nation, renowned for its keen interest in outer space, irreverence towards religion, and absence of drug laws. The hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 118 million Centurasians are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.

The medium-sized, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Welfare, Law & Order, and Education. The average income tax rate is 34.8%.

The strong Centurasian economy, worth 7.35 trillion Diviniums a year, is broadly diversified and led by the Information Technology industry, with major contributions from Arms Manufacturing, Furniture Restoration, and Book Publishing. Black market activity is notable. Average income is 62,265 Diviniums, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 4.2 times as much as the poorest.

All new "spies" are fifteen-year-old acne-ridden kids on computers, the government strictly regulates whale harvest quotas, the government seizes private property for the 'good of the people', and the most common psychiatric diagnosis is to 'stop whining and grow up'. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Centuras's national animal is the Spider, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.
