Nid Arach - The Tables Have Turned
In an event, split over two days lasting a total of more than 10 hours, the forces of good have driven the Arachian Lord and his minions out of Nid Arach's Fortress.

What does this mean for the region and for you?

Arachian Troops:

The Arachian Lord and some of his henchmen and minions in the lower levels have escaped with their lives, while the forces of Good ravaged their way up the tower, slaying all in their path. Where the Arachians have fled to is unknown to the public, though they've gone to a place that can be found (and if found will be revealed). Their number have dwindled to somewhere between twenty and fourty at this point. Although bested, the Dark Lord is not beaten. He will no longer be able to perform large scale things like defending and expanding the fort, building dungeons, or performing raids, but he will scheme from the shadows...

Nid Arach:
Nid Arach has fallen back to the state in which it was after the "Righteous Assault". This state is that during the "Villains Under The Moon" series. Just like back then, the Arachians will not be present anymore to defend the fortress. A few dark-themed characters will be lingering around the fort in search of objects and valuables that were left behind after the Arachians fled.

During the "Villains Under The Moon" series, nobody truly guarded the fort. The region became a no-man's land. The swamp was still deadly, the monsters had free reign and did multiply, buildings started to fall into decay and the fort became ruined. Parts of the bridges broke down and some towers lost pieces of walls. You may expect the same to happen now, where the fort will become even more ruined and new potential villains seek to make a claim to Nid Arach's buildings and riches. The region is not as dangerous as when an army could march out of the gates at any second, but it's still very lethal.

Team EVIL:
The Arachians can no longer provide supplies for you, though you can still gain their trust and accompanying boons. After the "Righteous Assault" the Dark Order fled the fortress and lost all of the Arachians' respect. You now have a chance to do it differently. Your base and things you gained or were rewarded will still be there and accessible to you. Though do know this; the fort is no longer safe. The forces of Good have taken over. It's free reign for both teams now and even random outsiders and other factions are free to walk in now. There is, however, still a place where you can get supplies and safe haven: Kalrak's base, which you'll be escorted to at your next event.

Team GOOD:
You've taken revenge for your friends' deaths and did what you set out to do months ago; to destroy the evil presence within Nid Arach. After weeks of preparation, you did it! You've reduced the region to a no-man's land, where no one true power holds sway. Arachians no longer pose the threat they once did. However, you did not manage to kill the Arachian Lord, who will be brooding on a plan for revenge and to take back what is his. You've now free reign in the region. Arachians will no longer shoot you from the fort, so you can explore much easier. You will find out through RP where it is safe to go, where challenges may still lay in wake, and where new ones may arise. Now you may plan on what you'll do with the fort, though be advised; it's still not a safe place to be!

Kalrak's Forces:
Kalrak, an evil warlord from Blorb's campaign, had joined forces with the Arachians about two weeks ago. Their base of operations remains untouched and will remain a safe haven for Team EVIL. I still have to figure out with Blorbis83 what will happen if Team GOOD comes across their base and if there's things or clues to find there in regard to his campaign, but we'll work it out before we get there, I'm sure.

Future of Nid Arach:
Nid Arach will persist. Though it'll change. A healthy region is a changing region. The fort became a ruin, the ruin became inhabited again. Now, the inhabitants have been driven out once again. What will the future hold? I've no idea, but I'm eager to find out and I'm always open to whatever RP decides to make happen here. I'm open to almost all ideas on what to do now, as long as it makes sense in RP, except toppling the main tower, that's my baby.

I'm eager to do a few more Villains Under The Moon events, those are fun. I'll likely ease up a bit with the Two Teams events, hosting them no more than once a week for each team. Perhaps less. I might even change it around entirely and host dedicated events to each team alternating, with loose DMs in between. Not sure yet, for now we'll continue with the Two Teams.

All in all, there will be less of a constant foe, and more random encounters at different places in the region, not concentrated around the fort. To me, it feels like I've just gotten more freedom to find whatever is most enjoyable with the current players and my current mood :)

FAQ / A.M.A
Nid Arach's changing, that's spooky, ask me anything about it.

Does this mean there is the possibility of both sides interacting with each other now?
I would say that the chances have increased to run into each other, but that this is still prohibited during the usual Team Events. The team events were brought into life so both sides can have the best of everything, while being safe from one-another. Now that the lines have blurred, those that want to run into each other can more easily do so.

Regarding simultaneous team events: Could they find a safe-room OOC and just chill?
The teams will both get 5 more events in the current format, before we switch to a new format. I liked your idea a lot and have gone to work with conceptualizing it. The new format will envelop both teams being hosted at the same time. I will have to DM less intensive, because the arachians are gone. In these 5 events, both teams have the time to prepare for the new format, by making safe havens inside Nid Arach. When they then run into another team and don't fancy the fight, they can try and reach a safe haven. These safe havens will feature all sorts of things, like NPC-traders with their own abilities, crafting stations, defensive traps, a look out tower perhaps, etc.

Just asking for clarification because that sound super cool (and because I don't really know how it works in the first place)

How much could Team Good or Team Evil lie in wait OOC with the intention to run into each-other? Could they find a safe-room OOC and just chill? or would you have to be present as a DM/Aspect of chaos the entire time? How much does having to PM you before venturing into Nid Arach for non-team event stuff factor into this?

Would they both have to arrange to meet 'by chance IC' OOC?

Muahaha! Fear not, Kralak will make the infidels pay! I will look around for some ruins that Kralak can use as his base of operations. I’ll also be releasing a thread detailing the campaign soon :)

For every ic visit to Nid Arach you need to pm me so I can DM. There is just too much going on in the region in terms of essence of chaos, traps, wildlife, and loot to find.

During team events, the other team is not allowed in the region. (regard them as private. They take normally about an hour, see the ongoing events links in the Nid Arach thread, link in signature)

Teams may host other events not classified as team events, to which other people may be invited or allowed.

When others know ic that you're going there at one point, they may pm me ooc to ask to join in the DM visit. Yes, they may also oocly arrange it among themselves to run into each other.

Good, plus the base you already have, which I sent over discord :)

I like this idea and will see if I ever change the team events or stop hosting them to implement this. Safe haven spots in Nid Arach sounds very good. If ever I stop the usual Team events that could be an option to let the teams continue regardless. (the idea is sound, cause hosting both teams at once does spare me an extra day a week of dming)
