See the Internet Historians video on No Mans Sky and you'll see that it really did get better, and I believe it's had 2 or 3 updates since that video. One of the new ones just came out a day or two ago that even further expands its content.

Yeah dude the game's been updated. The latest one which was yesterday revamped planet generation and the game feels new again.
