What is this section for?

This forum section is here to allow you to share your own writing with the community - in this section specifically relating to the in-game world of Altera.

What can I write?

It remains entirely up to you. Poetry or prose; character monologues or thought tracks; diary entries, journals, the musings of characters; songs, rhymes, even plays - you are free to explore any form of writing you choose.

In terms of more mature themes, we would ask that writing that might be inappropriate or disturbing audiences be kept to a minimum, and that there are relevant warning tags both in the thread title and on the post itself detailing the nature of the content.

As to how far is too far, we cite that anything venturing too much into the "M" rating is inappropriate for this forum and thus subject to removal without warning. Details of content specific to age ratings can be found here, but do be sure to scroll down the page for explanations of each: {Click}

Does it have to be "real" in-game?

Pieces posted may be canon, meaning that it relates to a real part of the in-game roleplaying story, but this is not compulsory. You may wish to write a non-canon piece set in the same world, perhaps exploring alternate sides to events, unplayed characters, or the oh-so-popular shipping fanfiction.

In the case of either, it is best to identify such early in the post to prevent misconceptions regarding characters and events. Happily, this can be done very easily by utilising the provided thread status tags: [Canon] for real writing/stories, [Fan-Fic] for anything else.

Can I comment on the work of other people?

Remember - this remains a forum visible to the community, so posting here allows for others to comment and critique, so be aware that others may offer suggestions and improvements.

In the same way, those commenting should remain aware that thoughtless comments regarding people's work can be extremely hurtful, and can reduce their confidence and incentive in continuing to post. Please ensure, therefore, that any criticism is constructive and courteous, as our writers put a lot of time and thought into their work.

Thank you all, and happy writing!
