You swear you can feel eyes staring back at you.

Riseport is a violent region. While the owners aren't literally out to kill people who wander, it best suits the surrounding environment. The jungle is deadly, and you are likely to die if you enter and roam it alone and inexperienced.
-----------
Riseport is a hot, humid location based in the southern jungles. Based and influenced around that of the Amazon, including the masses of wildlife. The jungle is alive - Watchful and active, and serving as a defense all in itself should people be cast out of Riseport's safer walls.

While the port is fairly large and deals with a variety of imports and exports, there's also two more sections of note. A fortified wall surrounds the main hub of Riseports infrastructure - Though this is in part to keep most of the wild animals out and at bay it provides a very capable defence in the event of other sorts of hostility from outside. Looking upwards is the Rise, a much cooler place to live above the canopy.
It is on the Rise that the ruling family resides, House Fuvur.

Where is Riseport?

+[Dynamap Link]+

In order to get to Riseport, you must take a ship via a Dockmaster. It is not accessible unless you wish to risk serious injury by traipsing down south through the unkind jungle masses otherwise.

Small boats do occasional excursions to the ruins to the east, however only under guidance or permission from either Nylarii or Nwalme Fuvur. The location is extremely hostile. All the jungle between Riseport and this place is considered House Fuvur territory.

Region Rules
"Fuvur word is law."

IC Rules, or Guidelines:
- The Fuvur family rules Riseport. Their word is law in Riseport, but otherwise it's essentially a lawless region.
- Suffice to say if you are not a resident of Riseport and you enter to cause harm or problems, you're an enemy of Riseport and it's inhabitants. You'll be dealt with accordingly.
- Do not venture into the Jungle unguided. You will likely perish.
- Do not climb the Rise. If you don't die from falling, you'll die for disobeying the rule in the first place.

- Do not enter the Rise Fort without permission.
- You're expected to live and work in Riseport if given a place of residence.

OOC Rules:
- Don't wander into the jungle alone and inexperienced. When there's big events going on or when we're free, Lannis Mitch blargtheawesome , or I can DM for you. But we can't do that all the time, and the short answer for 'would I survive in the jungle alone?' is 'No.'
- No destroying builds and editing without asking first. Most places have interiors and the like already, and I'm alright with edits providing you just ask first.
- Stealing, harassment and OOC rudeness aren't tolerated, which is a given since they're server rules too.
- Remember that Riseport is a Violent region. Consent is not needed for things to happen to your character here.
- After 2-3 weeks of inactivity, I'll reclaim your house. Lemme know in advance, yeah?
-

Flora, Fauna and Geology
- - -

The jungles of Riseport are vast and exceptionally lively. While not everything within them has been documented so far, multiple excursions and expeditions have provided a bit of insight. Though this knowledge may be partly privvy to only the Fuvurs.

There are several 'locations' within the jungle. The Mangroves are the sections that connect to the swamplands beside Zima'Maloj, and to an extent, that of the river to the East.
(Copy pasted from: [x] and [x])
Emergent - The tallest trees are the emergents, towering as much as 200 feet above the forest floor with trunks that measure up to 16 feet around. Most of these trees are broad-leaved, hardwood evergreens. Sunlight is plentiful up here. Animals found are eagles, monkeys, bats and butterflies.

Canopy - This is the primary layer of the forest and forms a roof over the two remaining layers. Most canopy trees have smooth, oval leaves that come to a point. It's a maze of leaves and branches. Many animals live in this area since food is abundant. Those animals include: snakes, toucans and treefrogs.

Understory - Little sunshine reaches this area so the plants have to grow larger leaves to reach the sunlight. The plants in this area seldom grow to 12 feet. Many animals live here including jaguars, red-eyed tree frogs and leopards. There is a large concentration of insects here.

Floor - It's very dark down here. Almost no plants grow in this area, as a result. Since hardly any sun reaches the forest floor things begin to decay quickly. A leaf that might take one year to decompose in a regular climate will disappear in 6 weeks. Giant anteaters live in this layer.

Mangroves - These are mangroves—shrub and tree species that live along shores, rivers, and estuaries in the tropics and subtropics. Mangroves are remarkably tough. Most live on muddy soil, but some also grow on sand, peat, and coral rock. They live in water up to 100 times saltier than most other plants can tolerate. They thrive despite twice-daily flooding by ocean tides; even if this water were fresh, the flooding alone would drown most trees. Growing where land and water meet, mangroves bear the brunt of ocean-borne storms and hurricanes.

East River - The river to the East of Riseport. It's more or less matched to that of the Amazon, with sections of mangroves.

Flora

Name - Notes/Description - Effects - Yields
(Not all mine. Lots of research into rainforests with multiple websites, and some copy pasting from 'em. Wikipedia and rainforestalliance are two I recall.)

Harmful:

Lawyer Vine
Barbed vines with thin needle like barbs. Easy to hook in skin and clothing, easy to tangle in. Prone to growing near trees and wrapping around them, over years 'strangling' the tree.
- Barbed/Thorns - Irritation via embedding in skin. Need tweezering out.
- Yeilds nothing.

Datura, 'Thornapple'
Datura has been used in traditional medicine to relieve asthma symptoms and as an analgesic during surgery or bonesetting. It is also a powerful hallucinogen and deliriant, which is used spiritually for the intense visions it produces. Fatally toxic in higher doses.
Reaches around 2-5ft in height, and noted by a fibrous white root.
- Hallucinogen/Delirant - Via consuming.
- Yeilds nothing.

Strychnos
Strychnos is a common vine with a rough, brown bark from the rainforest. The vine grows upwards alone trees with the help of hooks at the young tops of the plant. The poison from the roots and stem of this plant is 'Curare'.
This causes weakness of the skeletal muscles and, when administered in a sufficient dose, eventual death by asphyxiation due to paralysis of the diaphragm.
In medicinal purposes, it is used to help cure fever, bruises and kidney stones, and can be used as an anesthetic.
- Muscle Relaxant -Via Injestion/Bloodstream.
- Often used to coat arrow tips in hunting.

'Dumb Cane'
Dieffenbachia is a perennial herbaceous plant with straight stem, and simple, alternate leaves containing white spots and flecks. Sap from the dumb cane plant that gets into a human mouth will make the tongue swell, causing speechlessness in adults and sometimes killing children. This effect was used by slave-owners to torture unruly slaves working in plantations.
- Painful stinging and swelling - Via chewing.

Gympie
A single-stemmed plant reaching 1–3 metres in height. It has large, heart-shaped leaves. It is best known for stinging hairs that cover the whole plant and deliver a potent neurotoxin when touched.
Contact with the leaves hairs to penetrate the skin. The sting causes an extremely painful stinging sensation that can last for days, weeks, or months, and the injured area becomes covered with small, red spots joining together to form a red, swollen mass.
- Neurotoxin - Via stinging into the skin.
- Yeilds nothing.

Non-Harmful:

Riseport Nut Tree(We are not Brazil)
Famous for reaching heights of over 160 feet, the Riseport nut tree towers above other trees in the rainforest. During the first two months of the year, its fruit -- which is roughly the size of a human fist and can weigh up to 5 pounds -- ripens and falls to the ground.
Inside the fruits’ hard, woody exterior are anywhere from 10 to 21 nuts arranged in a pattern similar to segments of an orange.
- No effects.
- Yeilds nuts, edible from point of harvest.

Coffee Plant
Multiple stems and branches, essentially a small bush. The coffee plant is an evergreen, with a light gray bark and five-inch leaves that are dark green and glossy. Coffee flowers are small, white and fragrant, helping to attract pollinating insects. When the flowers fall off the plant, berries begin to develop in their place, ripening from a dark green to a bright crimson. Two small green coffee beans, surrounded by skin and pulp, are found inside of the berry.
- No effects.
- Yeilds coffee beans. The leaves can be used for tea.

Cacao
The fruits and flowers of the cacao tree grow directly from its trunk. The tree grows an oblong fruit commonly called a pod, which can be four to 12 inches long. When the pod is young it is green in color, and can turn yellow, red or purple when ripe. Each pod contains 20 to 60 reddish-brown cocoa beans up to an inch long, which are usually arranged in five rows surrounded by a sugary pulp.
- No effects.
- Yeilds cocoa.
"Cocoa has been a food for humans since as far back as 600 to 200 B.C. when the first hot chocolate drink was made from mashed cocoa seeds."

Kapok
A giant in the rainforests, the kapok tree can reach up to 200 feet in height. Due to its extreme height, the kapok, or ceiba tree, towers over the other rainforest vegetation. The trunk can expand to nine or 10 feet in diameter.
Its wood is lightweight and porous; good for making carvings, coffins and dugout canoes.
- No effects.
- Yeilds wood, see above.

Cork
Growing to heights of 65 feet (20 meters), cork oak is a unique and valuable tree species. Unlike many other oak trees, cork oak is an evergreen and does not drop its leaves. The thick and knobbly dark grey bark which covers it is the portion known as “cork.”
During cork harvest, the tree remains standing while large sections of its outer bark -- the cork itself -- are cut and peeled from the tree. Cork oak is unique in its ability to regenerate its outer bark.
- No effects.
- Yeilds cork.

Ramon Tree
This tree stretches to heights of more than 120 feet and provides habitat and nutrition for an array of rainforest residents. Its bark is thin, smooth and whitish-grey in color with a sticky, milky sap inside. You can eat the orange fruit it produces, as well as the small, bright green seed contained within it.
- No effects.
- Yeilds Ramon nuts and orange fruits.
"When dried, it can be stored for up to 5 years without spoiling, making it an important food source in regions with frequent periods of drought and food instability. It tastes similar to a potato and can be eaten raw, boiled or roasted."

Sapodilla
The sapodilla tree is a slow growing evergreen that can reach heights of 100 feet. Strong and wind-resistant, it maintains an extensive root system. Sapodilla flowers are small, bell shaped and cream colored. The fruit is shaped like an egg with rough, brown skin when ripe, which protects the grainy yellow fruit inside. The ripe sapodilla fruit is soft, sweet and juicy with a similar taste to a pear.
- No effects.
- Yeilds sapodilla fruit, and it's wood.
"It can be eaten raw or made into jam. The fruit and leaves are used in traditional medicine to treat coughs and colds. The sapodilla wood is a deep red color, strong and durable."

Poinsettia
The colorful part of the poinsettia is not the petals but rather the leaves. The actual flowers are small, yellowish stalks in the middle of the brightly-colored leaves. A poinsettia grows in the form of a small bush or tree that can reach heights of up to 15 feet.
- May cause stomach upset if eaten.
- Yeilds red dye.
"They used the red leaves of the plant to make dyes for fabric and clothing."

Imports, Exports, and Trade

- - -
Riseport imports little and exports plenty, though new trade routes are always acceptable and sought after for relation benefits. What Riseport has to offer is vast, exotic, and unique to its climate.

For a lot of these items, like exotic pelts and birds, they're treated as individual purchases. They cannot be bought in bulk and regularly shipped.

Exports/Produced Goods

Riseport Tobacco
Riseport Smoking Tobacco is just normal tobacco. Perfectly fine, nothing to worry about, nosiree. Up until the actual Riseport part comes into play. Unlike most tobaccos before the semi-modern era, this stuff doesn't feel like quite as much like you're inhaling smoke. Though, it's still quite unpleasant, and is definitely an acquired taste- especially since the proper use of the drug involves inhaling it deeply. It's got a mild stimulant affect like normal tobacco, in small dosages, but in larger dosages it acts more akin to a depressant. Slows your reaction time, relaxes the hell out of you, and makes it pretty difficult to get angry.
Notably, has a very pungent, earthy scent, and thick light grey smoke.

See more:
=
Mind that, beyond that, the rest of this information on the product is not public knowledge.

What makes it really special is the special blend of thirty seven herbs and spices (not really). The tobacco is soaked in a substance extracted from the roots of two plants that grow naturally in the jungles of Riseport. One of plant has calming properties, and is nonaddictive. Another plant that also grows in the jungle, and is also in the mix, is addictive. It has neurological effects, and while they're not apparent in small dosages, the plant is addiction-forming (of the chemical dependency sort). Tobacco, processed and all that for smoking, is left to soak in this stuff for a few hours before the excess is squeezed off like water from a sponge and it's ready to be packaged for exporting.

In small dosages, you're getting more tobacco than herbal extracts. Thus, it acts as a mild stimulant, and that's about it. This would be a handful of puffs, mind.
In moderate dosages, you'll feel more sensitive, and really quite relaxed. There's a slight slackening of inhibition- but only slight. You'll probably notice that you're a fair bit easier to bruise, but you're not an overripe fruit.
In large dosages, it becomes uncomfortable, but odds are you're a bit too out of it to care. Your extremities prickle and tingle, and might start getting bruised for no apparent reason. This would be about one and a half pounds of the stuff.
In the event of an overdose, which would be quite an impressive feat of stupidity for smoking so much in one go, it causes your neural pathways to get fiddly and you'll probably experience paralysis of one of your important bits- like your heart or lungs. It would take around five pounds to get this bad off.

Addiction to the stuff isn't all that bad. Headaches and nausea, that's about it. But it does form fairly quickly, and last for quite awhile. After two or three weeks of regular consumption, you'd have three or four months of withdrawal.

Long-term usage, something like three or four years where you end up taking a large dosage a few times every week, would result in a permanent deadening of the sense of touch. No one's taken it this long who exists at the time of this writing though, so.

Wooden Crafts
Riseport supplies many wood products, though anything complex or particularly ... unique requires a personal commission.

Examples of just about anything that can be bought: Small wooden crafts, hunting bows, basic furniture, quarterstaves, etcetera.
Examples of things too complex or flashy to be bought casually: Anything tailored to one specific person, war bows, specially designed items, etcetera.

Places of Interest
- - - -

Theres a variety of places in Riseport, and this is more a post to remind myself of what I actually have. Some aren't too accessible, but most of it should be.
==
The Docks - Active and usually fairly loud, there are various warehouses here and they're constantly being shipped to and from. There's ships to Tamor and Veilmere each day, plus various trade vessels to other ports. It's here where a large portion of basic housing rests, usually temporary until enough coin is amassed for residents to upgrade to other ones.

The Walls - The walls protect the hospital, the mines, the vault, and most importantly the only way onto the Rise itself. The gates are only closed in emergencies. The tops of the walls are wide and sturdy as a secure archery point for many, should the time come. A moat surrounds its base.

The Rise - Overlooking all of Riseport and its surrounding jungle, this is home to the Fuvur Manor primarily. It is also atop here that the Fortress rests, secure in its location and not open to civilians at all. Access to the 'Underground' is through this.

The Underground - Through the fortress and part of the rise, there lies networks of caverns and tunnels, easy to get lost in and home to anything the Fuvurs believe requires the utmost secrecy and protection.

Nah, I'm sure there were a couple of websites that just said where they originate from and how hard it is to find them. I had rarity on animals too but I just can't keep up with it all
