[ RELICS OF ALTERA ]
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

When the moon shone purple and the lands plagued by all manner of peculiar beast and mystery, items were slowly discovered that held a unique magical quality. Whilst some place the moon as the origin for such things, they have emerged elsewhere and from different times, including the vast chambers of Qlippoth and the Keepers hoard. Some powerful mages have been known to even create their own form of relic, though perhaps not in the same light.
Whatever the case may be, it is known that magic can imbue items of varying potency and enchant them with traits that are either a boon or a curse, and entirely separately from the gifts granted to those who follow the Divine.

[ DIVINE ARTIFACTS ]
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
These items are specifically granted to an individual as a result of reaching Sacred (Tier Two) with their chosen Divine, and is that person alone who becomes ‘attuned’ to the item. As a result, no one but these individuals can wield the item in full, should they do so, they will find that using them in some capacity will injure them.
Divine Artifacts and their effects are fully understood once they are given to the chosen Faithful, an innate understanding.

Arcane: If a Mage so much as willingly touches a Divine Artifact, they are subjected to an intense burning pain from the location they touched it, and thrown back several feet. They will find themselves greatly stressed and anxious for several days after, and white burn marks.

Non-Arcane: Whilst they can touch, hold, and transport divine artifacts from one place to another, willingly trying to use it unless in dire circumstances, be it swing a sword or play a lute, it will cause much the same response as above minus the throwback. (Dire circumstances refer to the example of a shield being used so you're not without defence, picking up a sword to attack an enemy when the Blessed has been knocked out the fight, etc.)

Other Faithful: If an Artifact is used by another of the same Faith, there is no drawbacks, though it should be in dire circumstances and not a common occurrence. In time where a Faithful not of the same God uses it, however, Divine Staff should be contacted. Divine Artifacts should not be given away for safe-keeping - Please send a message to Divine Staff if there is some situation where you want to pass on an item and we'll look into how to make it work (though it is not a guarantee).

[ DIVINE TRINKETS ]
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Blessed may only hold one 'Divine Artifact' at a time unless they reach Tier Four in which they can hold two, but there are additional items of Divine nature that can be held onto. These items cannot be held by those of the Arcane - Holding them burns them much like the effects of Holy Water - but can be held onto by any Blessed or Non-Arcane characters. There is no rule on if a Jishrimite holds onto an item of Theodran origins or vice versa.
There is a limit to 5 of these per character.
Note: Can be held if there is more of a buffer between item and the hands, like wrapping an item in bundles of cloth, but it still seems to get warm through the fabric. This does not mean the item can be used in any capacity by a Mage, however, and only handled.

[ SPELLBOUND RELICS ]
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
These items are available to all, be it Arcane, Divine, or neither. They do not require attunement in the lower tiers, but as an example the ‘Legendary’ tier is limited to one per character and this means even if it is ‘in your possession’.
Spellbound relics in most scenarios are not understood to be magical nor have abilities and are required to be examined; with most trying to will things to occur with them until they eventually discover their main purpose.
Some relics are limited in their magical energy and can be depleted with enough use.

[Legendary]
Relics at this tier are limited to one per character (Or one per region in the case of things such as wells and unique trees), and are generally noted as being the most powerful relics available. Should an individual have more than one they find they are overwhelmed with the conflicting magics of two items and are subject to great consequences and even death.
[Fabled]
Relics under this category are not common, and as a result have a level of effect much stronger than that of a mundane nature. It is possible to hold a maximum of two of these items on one character.
[Commonplace]
Either extremely limited in scope, or extremely weak, the power imbuing these artifacts is weak enough that one person may have a large quantity of them. While carrying five on oneself at a time comes with no ill effect, neither would storing more than the five on their person put at tremendous inherent risk anywhere they are stored. Not from the artifacts, anyway: doubtlessly it would attract thieves.

[ DEMONIC ANTIQUES ]
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
These items are generally granted by an Archfiend or found within the Hellscape. They do not require attunement in the commonplace tier, but do require it in the higher tiers. The properties of these antiques can be known by those contracted and gifted with them, and should be learned through usage by others. Some relics are limited in their magical energy and can be depleted with enough use.

Demonic Antiques are unique- where they might be tied to the Fiendish entity that created it, and thus, can be manipulated, altered, or destroyed if not in the possession of those favored by the Archfiend. Some granted artifacts will be tied to the Abyssal contracted themselves and written as thus.

In addition, these antiques have a chance of corrupting the being that continues to keep hold of the object. This could be through subtly enhancing malicious or intrusive thoughts, or through more physical and drastic means. The antique will include a description –or one or more of the following can be used as flavor if the player chooses it. The holder..:
  • ..begins to have trouble sleeping, showing dark circles under their eyes. Wherever the antique is held or placed on their body, purple-blue veins will appear upon their skin.
  • ..begins to carry a more abrasive attitude towards others.
  • ..daydreams of hearing demonic whispers in their ear, unintelligible to them.
  • ..will gradually roll for {Infernal} when grabbing the object.

[ NULLIFICATION ]
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
In some situations, an Artifact or a Relic may lose its power - And in these cases the item will remain but no longer be able to be used in the way it was. A ticket should be submitted for the item to be created IG and for logging purposes.

[ RULES ]
▬▬▬▬▬▬
  1. Do not make up your own Artifacts unless it is for event usage, in which the item cannot go to yourself and must be submitted through Lore for approval.
  2. Do not metagame knowledge of these Artifacts, their existence, nor who they are in possession of.
  3. If an artifact or relic in your possession was broken, stolen, or given away, inform Lore/Divine staff so they can update the catalogue and take action if necessary.
  4. If you have created a Relic or are attempting to make one, a research conversation with Lore is required.
  5. If you are inactive for 6+ months, Lore/Events staff can have relics move, be taken, or be rendered inert at their discretion. The Catalogue will be updated.
  6. Old artifacts with inactive characters is not something staff will address, but if you have a strong claim and the holder will not work with you, feel free to take it to moderation.
