"Young men may be ambitious, but they are still shy and infantile. It takes age and bitterness to truly come to terms with one's capacity for ruthlessness."

The Fuvurian government is comparable to many old, successful authoritarian regimes. It is extremely centralized, with the leader holding the power of life and death, success or failure, poverty or wealth, over every single citizen. The only thing that checks the power of the autocrat is the threat of soft power on the part of the advisors the autocrat chooses to surround himself with; and so, they are locked in a delicate balance. They can be dismissed or appointed at whim, and anyone, or anything, within the reach of the autocrat can be appointed to any court position at any time. But no ruler can rule on his own, and delegating the tasks of state to incompetent but loyal advisors weakens the state overall. But competent advisors are often ambitious in their own right, and this risks the stability of the realm.

"Make not an enemy of your own people; but, if you must have an enemy, make one of your people's enemies."

Positions of Importance
(a note on linguistics: there isn't a word for "courtier", "aide", etc in the fuvurian dialect. and since the only language recognized in legal matters in house fuvur is elven, advisors are the general term for courtiers)

Lord/Lady of House Fuvur. Currently held by Nwalme Fuvur, who for the time being is stylizing the title as Witch-King (more long-form, "Witch-King of the Fuvurian Dominion" granting him seniority over every vassal despite holding no lands personally). The position implies control over members of the Fuvurian family, but there is no legal nor material backing behind this implied power. As such, the title is mostly just a prestigious one, and people who hold it depend on the respect that it confers in order to actually do anything.

Autarch of Sanardu. Held by Aelyth Fuvur, by far the position which holds the most power inside the realm. Sanardu, considered unbiasedly by the residents to be the eponymous greatest city of the new world, is an economic powerhouse and the seat of all power that the realm can muster. As all roads lead to Rome in the real world, so to do all realms in the Fuvurian Dominion lead to Sanardu.

Personal Advisors. Nikolche Variclav. The personal, professional, and highly valued servants of the royal family. Nominally anyone in the family can claim use of them to some end, and in fact they are legally obliged to perform any task asked of them, there is a precedent for only the lord of the house ordering them personally. They serve as counselors, diplomats, champions, friends. They are chosen for their discretion and competence, personally appointed by the lord of the house.

Dukes. More accurately, overseers. These people are appointed to oversee vast swaths of land, collect taxes, ensure safe shipping, and so on. But they do not own the lands they operate, they merely ensure that they run smoothly and that everything is delivered to Sanardu on time. Dukes may stylize themselves as anything they please, but their formal titles at court are mostly geographical in nature. At present, all dukes are:
Duke of the Broken South. Josef Mandovi. Named because of the relative lack of strong, centralized powers dominating the region as well as the uneven coastline and the mountainous terrain.
Unread Duke of the Eastern Cape of the Broken South. Arike. This title is mostly ironic, but Arike is acknowledged as overseeing the minor lands that Fuvur holds on the south eastern cape of the continent.

Moghuls. Nikolche Variclav, Josef Mandovi, Andre Ursae. An old title borrowed from a dead regime. Moghuls can colloquially be referred to as lords, as there is no functional difference between the two. They are land-holders outside of Sanardu, which are effectively their own independant states outside of having to deliver regular tribute to Sanardu.

Advisors. The servants, courtiers, aides, and so on of the powerful people in Sanardu. Their numbers constantly fluctuate, and someone can be considered an advisor without even realizing they are one. Serving as an official servant to any of the high and mighty of the upper crust of society nets them this role. Whether it be royal ass wiper or a cherished lifelong, loyal servant.

Given the seat of power of the entire regime is Sanardu, comparatively minor roles inside the city have a lot of sway over the rest of the empire by virtue of rubbing shoulders with the major power players on a day-to-day basis and being able to influence their actions by virtue of ensuring the efficient running of the city. These roles include:

Master of the Collectors. Unfilled. The man in charge of the collection of all taxes from merchants and residents inside the city, as well as ensuring the safe transfer of tribute from the lands outside Sanardu to secure places inside the city itself (or at least, in charge of the staff who do that on their behalf).

Observer of Law. Unfilled. The holder of this position is in charge of the judges, lawyers, and justice inside the city. As Sanardu has no written constitution but records each legal case, they are tasked with ensuring that the precedents set by common law are seen to in legal case in the city.

Organizer of Ceremonies. Unfilled. They are in charge of ensuring that events taking place in the city are conducted appropriately. Foreign visitors are catered for, the safety of all is assured, and so on. They are also in charge of ensuring the comfort of foreign nobility visiting the realm, asusming such nobility are favored by the Fuvurian regime at that time.

Wielder of Law. Unfilled. In charge of ensuring that criminals are dealt with effectively, and that the safety of the city and its citizens is maintained. Essentially they are the leader of all guard forces inside the city.

Mayor Shipwright. Unfilled. In charge of the maintenance and repairs of the navy docked at the city, including foreign ships there on a temporary basis as a courtesy.
