The Imperial Navy is led by the Sealords, or the Admiralty, in their fortress at Queensport.
They oversee all naval operations in and out of the Kaltstaat, including those of Merchants
and mercenaries. It is their duty to maintain a strong presence in the Northern Seas and to
ensure safety and prosperity on the waves.

Current Lord Admiral:
Mathieu de Courtnay

Sailors -
The bulk of the Navy, it is comprised of hardy seafarers of various races and genders. They carry out the day-to-day
tasks aboard the naval vessels and fight when the occasion calls for it. There are three types of sailor when it comes
to the Imperial Navy; the unaffiliated, the affiliated and the experienced. Based upon experience with the Navy itself,
loyalty to the Empire and general competency, those who join the Navy will find themselves filed into one of these
ranks. Any sailors with exceptional skill in a trade may find that their captain offers to pay them an extra sum at the
end of each voyage, for their expertise. Whilst unaffiliated sailors are essentially little more than mercenaries, the
affiliated sailors are considered to be Kaltic citizens when aboard their vessel. Those who ensure to dedicated their
service to the Kaltstaat are sought after more dearly than those who are simply in it for the coin and may find that
they are offered more voyages.

Officers -
The trusted lieutenants, quartermasters and surgeons of the various vessels of the Imperial Navy. They are expected to
be a shining example of what it means to be of Imperial society and to carry out the orders of their commanders with
utmost efficiency. Loyalty is required of the Officers which is why they are expected to pay the price of an Imperial
Commission, signed by the Imperial Family themselves, denoting them as a leal ambassador of their Naval will. It is
expected that an aspiring officer shows some experience aboard a vessel before they attempt to purchase a commission
but it is largely left to the Admiral's purview. Those of the Officer rank may not serve in the military or navy of another
nation that is at war with the Kaltstaat and are expected to cut any ties should war break out.

Captains -
Whilst the Kaiserreich commands Knights on land, the Sea calls for a totally different commander; the Captain. They
are commissioned officers of the Imperial Navy, often having been promoted from an Officer and having purchased
their own commission. To be a Captain is to be entitled to your own vessel and the freedom to crew it as you see fit.
Each ship may have its own articles of command, but the Imperial Law rules supreme. Those of the Captain rank may
not serve in the military or navy of another nation that is at war with the Kaltstaat and are expected to cut any ties should
war break out.
