"No fortress is as impregnable as the mind, and even that is easily broken."

Another announcement to the peoples of Sanardu. The Radiant as a currency shall no longer be accepted in the Fuvurian Empire, and in its place will be a currency known as Scales. Functionally, it is similar to the Radiant, but with less in circulation and made of more precious material, Scales are generally worth more than the Radiant by direct comparison. Major businesses in Sanardu will be able to exchange Radiants for Scales at no cost for travellers, while particularly undeveloped communities likely will unofficially accept the Radiant for some time yet, given that it would be impractical to have large sums of money in especially rural locales.

The currency operates as such, from least to most valuable (a note of common practice: to derive half of the amount of these coins, it's common practice to just get half of the coin. these are typically called "Half [name]," except for the half scale, which is then known as a "quarter scale."):

The Silver Scale (2r): A silver coin slightly wider and thicker than the common Radiant. It holds the face of the current emperor on it on one side, in this case Nwalme, and an ouroboros on the other side as the symbol of Fuvur and Sanardu. The words "Fear no Threat" are along the rim, a shortened version of the Fuvurian motto "Fear Not the Man Who Threatens."
Bronzed Scale (16r): For those of us in the real world that find it strange to see a copper alloy being worth more than silver, yes I agree. But the lore says that copper is much rarer in the new world than it is in the real world, so I'm going to presume it's rarer than silver and therefore more expensive. Bronzed Scales are minted with a depiction of a a mountain (representing both the mountains of Sanardu and the rises of Riseport) on one side, and the face of the current heir, in this case Trystan, on the other side. The words "Fear no Threat" are also on these coins.
Half Scale (50r): These scales represent being worth half the "standard" coin which is valued at 100r. Another strange fact of the different metal rarities in this world, Half Scales are silver billon: an alloy of silver and copper. It's about 40% silver to 60% copper. A griffon head is depicted on one side (in reference to the most majestic but dangerous animal of the new world), while the other face has the face of the eldest daughter of the reigning emperor (Tzemik. the girl not the cat).
Full Scale (100r): These are really quite small golden coins, about the size of a modern American dime, but that's just because gold is worth so much. Their small size makes them quite portable, and so the rich and well-to-do of Fuvur often carry them in large quantities. One side has a tree (symbolic of the jungles of Riseport), while the other is has the traditional motto: "Fear no Threat."

These are the coins not commonly in circulation, because of their extreme value, but which exist anyway.

Proper Scale (1,000r): A larger version of the Full Scale, and often much more decorative. One side depicts the traditional motto inscribed as if it were decorative vines along one edge, the full "Fear Not the Man Who Threatens." The other side depicts a disembodied hissing snake.
Fuvurian Gold (10,000r): Molded of a gold and copper alloy that gives the coin a distinctive rosey allure in addition to the usual shine of gold. One side bears the face of the heir's wife (Arianne), while the other side depicts the same silver crown seen in Fuvur's heraldry.
Crowned Scales (25,000r): Minted from green gold, that being a specific alloy of gold and silver, it gives the coin a strange greenish yellowish hue. While this in and of itself makes it valuable, the fact that the rim is studded with diamonds tends to make it even more valuable. Typically used more as a status symbol than actual currency, the coin is so valuable that only a few dozen have been made, and all belong to the upper echelon of Fuvurian society. One side depicts the ruling emperor's wife (Nylarii Fuvur), while the other side depicts the facade of the Thousand Vaults Bank in Sanardu. The phrases "Fear no Threat" and "Grant No Concessions" appear on the rims of the coin.

{ The Thousand Vaults }

An state-owned organization operating out of Sanardu. It has one branch organization of the same name which exists in the lands of Artois, operated locally but still owned by the Fuvurian state. They also operate the only mint in Sanardu, where these coins are minted, regulated again by the Fuvurian state. There is little to say of the organization itself, beside for propagandized boasts of its reliability, honesty, and the low interest rates on its loans. It is rumored to contain more than a thousand vaults in the area behind the counter where only the employees and Fuvurian nobles are allowed to go. It keeps safe many treasures of the house and its peoples. Whether they be monetary, some relics of darker times in its history, important civic documents, or (in especially wild rumors) magical artifacts. And Walt Disney's head, cryogenically frozen, in a jar on the back shelf hidden by the Kellogs box.
