The Truths of Duty

MRPolo13

The Arbiter of the Gods
These are the rules in place for Inquisitors to carry out.

Inquisitors shall carry out their duties to the best of their abilities. While under certain, very specific, circumstances failure may be accepted, it is usually not taken lightly. In this, Inquisitors can be proud to be an elite of Altera, greater than many lords and kings in more than just titles, but both spiritually and physically. They shall therefore follow these laws of duty.

1. There is no such thing as an "off-duty Inquisitor". Inquisitors live for the Church, and when not performing a mission, they are to simply keep a lookout and be cautious. This will fill most days for Inquisitors, as normal members of the society. Civilian clothing is allowed and encouraged, and so is socialising with other people.

2. Inquisitors may leave their service to the Church if they so desire. The Church shall not hold them back, and will offer certain incentives, but ex-Inquisitors will be expected to return favours if truly required.

3. Any Inquisitor may arrest someone on the basis of suspected heresy or major breaking of the Divine Law. However, strong arguments or evidence should be presented. Marshalls may arrest people without evidence, but if they do such they are then put away from the case to keep the judge unbiased and objective. They're allowed to keep the case if there is sufficient evidence, but any bias that is found may put them under punishments from Grand Marshall or Grand Inquisitor, which may be severe.

4. Inquisitors should remain objective. They shall not arrest someone based on the person's appearance, race, political standing or other.

5. Inquisitors are expected to help the society. They do not exist purely as a means of terror, but also as members of the society, and are expected to feed the starving or offer a warm spot to those in need.

6. Inquisitors are allowed to marry, but beware of the consequences of having a difficult life such as that of an Inquisitor tied in with family.

7. You do not wish to find out what happens to Inquisitors that break these rules...

I'ma laugh when you attempt to arrest someone in either crossroads or a different town. Nobody likes listening to a inquisition.

This is just a forewarning, don't take it offensively but this won't end well.

@MRPolo13 What happened to the people who did that with the last inquisition?
They're working with ME. I'd like all of you to please keep in mind that we are approaching this with the best OOC intentions- to create wonderful new developments and overall have fun!
You naysayers need to be more polite and maybe try and work with us, because we would love to work with you.
Be excellent to each other... OOCly!

I'd like to extend a small point of advice.

To avoid issue, it may be wise to add a rule about working with sovereign houses rather than going through or over them. Removing the bit about being better than kings would also be ideal. ICly, your character will already have a steep reputation hill to climb. Characters, especially ones that were around for the dismantling of the old inquisition, will not be happy of this choice. Putting something out there that says "We plan to act better this time," would certainly help with said struggle.

That is most certainly what's being alluded here, anyway. Check the other threads, specifically here http://hollowworld.co.uk/threads/the-grand-inquisition-grey-robes-and-additional-information.30571/ . We're not going to be above the law. We'll be far more cautious this time around.
