If you haven't seen Downton Abbey, then watch the series, now. It's amazing and I think having a town set up like that is a wonderful idea.
Basically it's a big house/castle thing with everyone living inside of it. There will be gardens and people could RP as maid/servant/gardener/woodcutter/miner/cook. There will be servant's quarters, her lady's chambers, his lordship's rooms, kitchen, library, study, and a whole lot more.
Food would be grown in the garden, and the house would be located near a lake if possible.
All in all, I think it's a splendid idea. If I ever get enough money then I'd gladly do it.
I think I'd like to name it Downton as well.
