5. In your own words, how would you define metagaming and powergaming?
Metagaming is acting on out of character information with your character. IE: Karma knows that one character has an item that Karma's character wants, but Karma's character doesn't know. Karma's character seeks out the item anyway.
Powergaming is when your character forces an action upon another or does actions that otherwise would not be feasible. IE: Karma's character hits another character with his longsword, decapitating him. Instead of: Karma's character swings his longsword, aiming for the neck of another character. He would drive with his foot and select his swing carefully.
6. Do we allow X-Raying mods or X-Ray texture packs on the server?
Nope.
7. Tell us about yourself! Do you have any examples of your work?
I have my BA in mathematics and am currently getting my masters in education. I love tabletop rpg's and have has a little experience with minecraft rp servers such as Tale of Banners and Akavir (way back in the day lol).
8. Did anyone refer you? If not, how did you find our server?

About Your Character!

Current Setting of the Server:
The lands of Altera have long been laced with upheaval, supernatural turmoil that would threaten to shatter the realm or tear it asunder. Long, have the peoples of Altera withstood these tribulations, overcoming and persevering through the generations. Only too recently, have they settled the ire of Titans and Gods. Though the days were dark and long, the realm did survive, through tenacity and reverence. The memories of their trials behind them still fresh, the realm sits in a state of unease and angst . . . with eyes on the horizon.
In the skies above, the stars flicker and burn across the auburn colors of the setting sun, streaks of color in the gathering dark. The Realm of Altera awaits . . .

Kobal is shorter for his kind, standing at around 5'10 with stocky, wide shoulders and built with practical muscle. His skin is a muddy red color that contrasts against his muted yellow eyes. His face is set with thick eyebrows and a mane of black hair. His clothing is practical and light. Usually made of different leathers and furs, his clothing covers the essentials with a little decoration from previous hunts.

Kobal sits in the thick undergrowth, his longbow held carefully in his hand. An arrow is already loosed from its quiver as he stares at the deer he's been tracking for the past couple hours. He had previously muddled his dull red skin color with the mud and vegetation of the area to provide some sort of camouflage. As he awaits the deer to turn broadside, his eyes flick to the leaves of the tree above to check the wind direction. The wind is against him, helpful for the smell. Finally the buck turns broadside and the arrow finds its way to the string. Kobal pulls the string back slowly, the bending of the wood and the stretching of the sinew whining quietly as it stretches. And with a powerful thunk, the arrow launches through the air and smacks into it's target. Behind the shoulder for the lungs, it was a bit too far back but it would do. The buck shuddered in shock, its body not realizing that the creature is near death. Its muscles spaz for a moment as it bucks through the forest. With a quick jog, Kobal is able to follow the trail of broken branches, not even mentioning the sound. A couple hundred yards from the dugout, the corpse of the creature lays slain. Kobal begins the tedious process of gutting the beast, ridding himself of parts that he doesn't find use for. Eventually, after all the processing was done, he began to lug the corpse back home.
For Kobal, home was a small cabin where he lived with his father. He never knew his mother, but his father was an ex-guard for a small farming town who left to raise Kobal. He had taught him the basics of how to draw and shoot a bow, as well as where to shoot a deer so it would be felled quickly. As Kobal lugged his kill back to the cabin, he was brought to a sight of his father cutting wood. The brown haired Half-Spawn gave a reassuring nod as his son brought in his kill.
Father: "Another clean kill?"
Kobal: "Went down easy enough.. Do we want to smoke it or eat it fresh?"
Father: He slammed the splitting maul down into the wood, leaving the axe embedded within the splitting log. "Ah- probably should smoke it. Winter is coming and we probably won't be able to forage our way to meals as much."
Kobal handed the game off to his father, leaving him with the job of splitting the rest of the wood to him. It took him about a half hour to split the rest of the wood, and by that time something good had started to smell. He stacked the last few bits of spruce and made his way in. Much to his surprise, his father had begun to prepare two venison steaks.
Father: "Thought I'd brighten the day with a surprise." He says as he slaps the meat down onto a couple plates, sided with potatoes and foraged goods.
And so the night went on, the cabin filled with laughter and familial company.

About Your Character!
This section is about the character you intend to use once you join the server.We ask that new players follow these guidelines during this portion of the application:
- Characters begin with basic skills and gear. No advanced armor or weaponry. Skills and abilities are appropriate to a novice level. Skills should be learned through roleplay, not through backstory.
- Characters fit the lore. If you choose to play as a Moor Elf, for example, we expect appearance and details to be fitting with base lore.
- Characters cannot use magic in any way. The test itself should not mention magic either. HollowWorld uses a restricted magic system and it is only accessible to those who find and learn from a teacher in-game.
- Tests should not be violent. No murder, killing, death, torture. In the past, 8 out of 10 applications featured characters fighting off bandits or slaying passersby. We don't want to see how well you can script a fight scene. We want to see how well you can tell a story, how well you can roleplay.
- Be creative and be original. Do not use tests/characters whose home villages were burned, parents murdered, and then set off to be an orphan assassin. It has been done before. Please don't do it again.
- Written portion of the test is required to be a 400 word minimum. If the test doesn't meet the minimum, Staff may ask you to extend the test before the application is considered.
