The Rangers' Guild
is a collection of highly skilled individuals who make their living from the wilds around them. The Guild is a family to those who need one, it is a haven to those who need safety, and it is a friend to the like-minded. Founded by an Immortal Queen and Nylas Swifteye, the Elven Rebel.
Contrary to popular belief,
the Guild is not a club. It isn't a cult, or a sect that you sign up for and are immediately initiated into. In most cases, recruits are sought out by existing members for their appropriate abilities or lifestyle, and become a Ranger through training, both mentally and physically for an indefinite amount of time.
Those that don the cloak
and join the family are the smart, the subtle, the swift of thought and bow, the fleet of foot and blade. When you have truly proven yourself a useful, nay, integral part of the Guild, you will graduate from a recruit, and adopt the Ranger title. Each member is a highly valued and respected Ranger; a brother or sister in arms.

Our goal.
It used to be that we spent our time hunting the Slayers, what little there are left of them.
Now, for the most part, our time is spent growing in numbers and strength, gaining influence in houses and lands far stretched across the Northern Kingdoms.
We keep a watchful eye on the events that happen in the Northern Kingdoms, ever ready to step in and restore the peace. If that means putting down false Kings, or sabotaging corrupt organisations, then so be it. The way of the Ranger is to be one with the land, wishing to hone oneself in their skill. A Ranger is tasked with keeping the peace, before and after graduation. They stand as a family beside one another, in blood or without.
Politics.
The Guild is not affiliated with any political house. We remain an independent body, ruled by ourselves and not subject to house restrictions.
This means that if you belong to a house, you can join our ranks, but it is important not to let your alliances cloud your thoughts when making crucial decisions. The Guild comes before everything, house or no house.
It is known that we are currently working with the Elven House Saeradan. They have granted us lands in the verdant forests of the Elven Isles and in return we watch over Tauredal and Cridhe, offering protection and stability.
Crown Affiliation:
The position of Crown Ranger is that which stands loyal to the appointing, under oath. Those that depart from the position without leave are given the title 'Oathbreaker'. Punishment for breaking oath is left to the discretion of the Crown, as are the responsibilities paired with the title, within reason. The position can be handed off to another Ranger, with the approval of both the Crown, and the recipient. Those known to have the position are:
Nylas Swifteye under Draco Lonmar.
Ced J'Sera under Leminth Arduin.
Dayter Arretez, successor under Leminth Arduin.
There has been no Crown Ranger since the dissolution of the Silver Crown.
Religion.
Religion is not strictly necessary, but Theodra is the Guild's matron deity. She has influenced our luck directly in the past, and as such several Rangers are indebted to her.
Rangers are advised to offer homage to her, as she embodies all that the Rangers strive to accomplish. Shalherana and Sallana are common deities amongst the Rangers, too.
Locations:
Tauredal Ranger Hall - The oldest facility dedicated to the Rangers in Altera, it is also the largest single structure to be under the care of the Rangers, if an eldnari can be called a structure. It long lay disused, but has recently been renovated with common room open to the public, an office for the resident managing Ranger, and bunks for a small contingent of visiting Rangers and recruits.
Training Camp - The location of the Ranger's training camp is not quite a secret, but information regarding it is tightly controlled by the Sentinels.
Greythorne Hall, Grafjell - One of the newest facilities for the Rangers, this Hall is currently headed by Ranger Jaden Seeker. It serves as a pivotal location for the Rangers in Grafjell and the Western parts of the Northern Kingdoms. Not only this, but it is a testament of the relationship between the Isles and the Rangers. The Hall was named after and dedicated to the late Abel Thorne.
Legacy:
The Rangers were formed initially by Nylas Swifteye, and an Immortal Queen, initially a rebellion against Leo Decroix's Slayers, and the threat of Queen Grief. Taking place in loyalty to the Crown after some time, under both the reign of Draco Lonmar, and successor Leminth Arduin. Several members were additionally part of the Order of the Blackened Skull, as well as the Guardians. In the most recent Exodus, King's Ranger Dayter Arretez was among elected executive officers, put on the sidelines for injuries. During the elementals and corruption crisis, the Rangers were known as key players, with offences and deliberation to facilitate action.
Rules:
- Be discreet. Rangers are quiet, calculating. If your character is a brash, loud-mouthed warrior, then the Guild isn’t for you.
- While a fully-fledged Ranger might be incredibly quick and agile, that does not make him a ninja. Don’t be over-powered; even Rangers make mistakes.
- Your character doesn't join this Guild and instantly become proficient at archery, or any of the other skills required to be a Ranger. If they already know some skills that’s fine, but they need to learn the other ones, then practice on their own. They'll will receive as many lessons as they need.
- Honestly, we focus mainly on RP skills when someone wants to join, so make sure you have a convincing, “real” character. That means no demigodninjaorphanassassins. Activity is our second priority, so the more active you are the better!
Want to join? Find us, and we’ll talk.
