Day 2 Guys,

Today's selected biome is Desert.

Let me first say, the mapmaker's server has been down all day today, so I have not been able to get on and do one without a resource pack or lighting on. This is all stuff we took yesterday.

Unlike our current, and relatively empty desert and out of the way on only the southern most reaches of our map, our new deserts are vast, intimidating, and full of wonderful natural structures and topography. From rolling dunes, to enormous mesas, to a full-on oasis river region, and everything in between, you can Bedouin to your hearts content in our new deserts. This new desert takes up a central position in the current map and will likely provide many interesting RP experiences in the future to come.

As the deserts are fairly large (much larger than the swamp), I'm going to be devoting more than just 5 measly pictures to it.

And now for some pics, taken again by myself and the lovely Elz

Some pretty monstrous dunes.

Many stretches of the desert can go on for many kilometers with nary a spot of rest for the weary and thirsty traveler.

This lovely shot by Elz, shows that the desert isn't just a barren wasteland, it has life clinging to its edges, just struggling to survive.

One of the many large mesas that make up the desert. Perfect for a cliff-side abode, a Kasbah, or even a fully-functional town.

The Red Dunes to the far south make up an interesting contrast to the white and yellow sands of the north. Here, the dunes are more gentle and sloping as we get closer to the bone-dry shores.

Another by Elz. Not all is sand and dirt within the desert. Some areas look like mountains or volcanos from a long-gone-by era. Rifts and Valleys run rampant through this region.

If one knows where to look, the rare oasis can provide respite to the weary traveler.

And the last picture for today's deserts is the tallest mountain in the area I could find. Beautifully crafted of stone, sandstone, and hardened clay, it poses a menacing figure over the sand dunes below it for kilometers around.

Any questions?

You may salivate now.

Can we get some of these without shaders/texture pack as requested in the last thread? I can't run shaders, so it would be nice to see it vanilla.
