how to get admin approval for a non standard character

For the level four spirit blessed trait, a magic wielding character or for playing a race that is not on the standard playable races list the following requirements must be met:

5 mods or admins (at least one must be an admin) who are willing to risk their integrity to vouch for your ability to stay in character while playing, that you roleplay well, and that you do not write over powered characters.

that you have a good backstory that fits with the lore.

send Legion or Itzza a PM with these things, include the mods and admins that are willing to vouch for you in the conversation. when they all have posted that you are good to go legion or itzza will approve or deny based on your story, they may ask you to change some things but likely nothing major.

the non playable races are very limited, before going through all the work to get approved contact the both of them and let them know what you want to play they'll say ye or ne, dont get pissed if they say ne.

I was wondering, i would gladly contribute to the server and its lore by putting time in a big backstory about a race, but the thing is that you said that only 6 month-old members of hollowworld could create new races. You see, i do understand that rule, and i still respect your decision, but i wondering if you could let me have a chance with my idea...(text that would give the identity of said player here)...
So i was wondering if i could create my race, and you could maybe give me an opinion?
By the way, my idea was (insert title of race here). But if you want more infos, gimme a chance .

no they can not create new races, they can play as a different race. the races that will be allowed will be in the denizens of altera section. it is not made yet however it will include the bad guys and weirdo races that inhabit altera but do not play a big role in alteran politics.

short list that will end up in the denizens of altera section:

ogres (big ass orc things)
nakam (cat people)
merfolk (fish people)
shades (sentient corporeal spirits)
fey (fairies, dryads, nymphs, brownies etc. NOT NICE FAIRIES!!!)
gricks (small forest dwelling humanoids with a propensity for violence, trickery and thievery)


please note that if you really want to play as one of these things understand that the common folk of altera will see your character for what it is... a monster. they will (or should) be prejudiced and making allies will be difficult.

I added magic to the admin approval list. This is to prevent the most common of OP characters. Most of those who have magical abilities have them because the Gods granted them said abilities so they naturally join the church as a cleric of their patron god or goddess.

Please note that just because you are a priest or priestess does not mean that you are a nice person. There are gods and goddesses that cover every spectrum of morality and empathy.

If you want to play as a magical character but do not have 6 months with the server yet then incorporate your budding magical ability into your character and your role-play. If you get to 6 months and you can not find mods and admins to vouch for you or if your application gets denied... then your character may have some magical ability but will never be able to do more than chill her tankard of ale or clean the room with the wave of a hand.

If you are already playing as a caster then do not fret. you are good to keep your character. I will however be asking the mods to keep an eye out for OP magic users. If they tell you that your character must go through the approval process it is probably because you are playing like an ass. If a mod tells you to go through the approval process just do it. Dont give them grief. If you have less than 6 months on the server you will just have to wait, but that waiting period will give you time to make contact with other mods and to prove what a good role player you really are.

Update:

I am removing the 6 month rule. From here on out, non-standard character approval will be totally down to how well you write, how much it makes sense, whether or not its reasonable, and if it fits into the world of Altera.

For example, you may be able to write an absolutely incredible profile about a steam punk engineer. Ill still decline it though, because steampunk does not fit in Altera.

All other rules still apply. If you want to make a new race, the lore had better be damned good. And I still make no promises.
