It's a PS2 game, and I know nobody owns a PS2 anymore really, but what the heck.

"15 years ago, there was a war. Well... war's broken out here plenty of times before. They've tried to invade the southlands through the northern valley time and time again. Luck was never on their side, though, and their victories didn't last long. They didn't realize that times had changed. Facing one defeat after another, losing territory and watching their nation dwindle, they built up their industrial strength to unprecedented heights and used it to wage one final battle against the world. That was 15 years ago. They fought ferociously, but were utterly defeated. The Belkans then committed the unthinkable-- they used nuclear weapons on their own soil. Seeing this tragedy unfold before their own eyes, the victorious countries vowed to throw down their weapons. The world was once again at peace. And thanks to them, it seemed it would last forever. On a distant island, far away from civilization, the protectors of the peace take to the skies." -Albert Genette

Albert is a freelance journalist who was hired to cover the story of Captain Jack Bartlett, a fierce fighter pilot who fought in the Belkan war 15 years ago. He was one of the best fighter pilots in the Osean Army.

One day, Captain Bartlett is running a training mission when a squad of unidentified bogeys is detected. His unexperienced squad is the only one close enough to make the intercept, and they order the bogeys to land. The bogeys respond by opening fire on the rookies. The bogeys were not bogeys at all. They were zeros. Aces. 8 rookies died because the command room thought the zeros were just bogeys.

On another mission, an unidentified, unmanned drone is detected, and it does not land when it is ordered to. Bogeys appear out of nowhere to defend the aircraft, and this is the first mission of the game. Against orders, Bartlett and his squad opens fire as he refuses to let any more of his men die.

Later, all of the unidentified vehicles are traced to Yuktobania, an ally of Osea from the war 15 years ago. Yuktobania has declared war on Osea and launched a major offensive. As Osea fights closer and closer to the Yuktobanian capital, the Wardog squad, which the main character who you play as, callsign "Blaze", leads, begins to discover the real truth of the Yuktobanians' betrayal. It is in fact not the Yukes at all. At the core of the whole matter is an enemy that was thought to be destroyed years ago. And they have infiltrated both countries and thrusted them into a war. A war which the wardog squadron is at the core at, and neither country is on their side.

This game is AMAZING. The best air combat game I have ever played. I highly recommend it for anybody who owns a PS2.
