Kahlah
Lord of Altera
Kahlah is a young human female who was brought up with a love of nature. She is of slim build with very pale skin, haunting green eyes and masses of ginger curls. She has a crescent shaped scar on the palm of her right hand where an accident early in her career left her with a severe burn. Fortunately, she was able to apply a potion quickly enough and the damage was minimal.
At the age of fourteen Kahlah was lucky enough to be apprenticed to an elderly herbalist named Taryn. Although he was very strict, he was a fair teacher and taught her many secrets about plants like healing and curing of poisons. She was so quick and eager to learn that he began to teach her the more arcane potions that needed rare and dangerous ingredients. Unfortunately, before her training was complete, Taryn was stricken with an illness she had never encountered. As he lay delirious with fever, Kahlah desperately researched a cure for him, but to no avail. As she helped bury her former mentor, she vowed she would continue to research all there was to know about plants and plant lore. She gathered all Taryn’s books and strode out to a new land where she could gain employment from another herbalist, honouring Taryn's memory and making him proud of her.
Kahlah met and impressed the great herbalist, Sonyen The Miraculous. He saw great potential in her ability to grow and tend plants and use them for brewing potions of all varieties. She remained with him for five years, gaining experience and knowledge under his great tutelage. With Sonyen’s blessing, Kahlah decided the time had come for her to make her own way in life and seek her fortune. Her journey brought her to Mirage and the kind and benevolent Master of Mirage, Sir Rauyran, helped her set up a laboratory in The Gate with a shop in the town from which she could sell her wares.
