The Republic of Mosouria is a tiny, safe nation, notable for its compulsory vegetarianism, compulsory military service, and devotion to social welfare. The quiet, industrious population of 16 million Mosourians are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.
The enormous, socially-minded government juggles the competing demands of Welfare, Spirituality, and Education. The average income tax rate is 73.2%, and even higher for the wealthy.
The imploded Mosourian economy, worth 72.1 billion Crowns a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. The industrial sector, which is quite specialized, is led by the Cheese Exports industry, with major contributions from Tourism, Book Publishing, and Information Technology. Average income is 4,507 Crowns, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.
Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Mosouria's national animal is the Snake, which slithers freely in the nation's many lush forests.

Although the origins of Ancient Mosouria have been lost to time Modern Mosouria was born from the ashes of the civil war between the two main military powers of Ancient Mosouria, The movement known as Purity and the Traditionalists. It has taken nearly a hundred years for the scattered peoples to band together into a stable government.
